  1. I would rather have Kenta at 12 million than Kyle Gibson at 13.
  2. Love this. I’d do it in a heartbeat.
  3. This. If you are going to expend valuable trade assets get a difference maker.
  4. I would hang on to SWR as he still has a chance. The rest of them are literally non factors. If we have to use any of them extensively in 2024 it will mean we have a crappy bullpen. Again. More proof that prospects fail at every level with the jump to the big leagues being the hardest. When Balazovic was having a very hot and miss season at AA I posted something to the effect that pitchers who end up being good in the majors typically don’t have the ups and downs he had in AA. This observation was highly unpopular but it’s really hard to make the show and stay there.
  5. Polo and Kepler are valuable to win now teams. No rebuilding club wants them. How many clubs fit that description I don’t know. Seattle and the Yankees come to mind. However all clubs would be interested in Julien I would think. Can someone tell me what Juliens trade value is compared to Polancos?
  6. Seems about right. Kind of surprised the Twins weren’t in for that deal.
  7. It will be interesting to see how other front offices will value Max. Will they give any weight to the last two months or focus on the prior years
  8. One factor in play here is that two years ago he was playing Wisconsin high school baseball. It may take him awhile to adjust to the much higher level of pitching.
  9. If he has a full season next year like his second half he would. Mind you I’m not predicting that but I never thought he would have the second half that he did. Plus if they move him in the off season they can go out and add a right handed outfielder.
  10. I think trading him this off season will yield better value because the new club could extend the QO. At the deadline there is no QO. Granted this scenario is only valid if Max has a good year.
  11. Wow I hadn’t seen those babip numbers. Me think serious regression is on the way.
  12. I have no idea what to do here. I know that I wouldn’t extend him nor would I give him the QO. That means he’s a short term asset that would be good to cash in. It’s hard to know what to expect from him in 2024 but generally I would put more emphasis on the 2.5 years he was not good with the bat over the last half season. So all of the above means he should be moved. BUT we don’t have enough outfield depth to move him without bringing someone back in via trade or free agency which kind of brings us full circle. I suppose it would be worth it if we could bring in a younger right handed hitting outfielder but seems like really threading the needle.
  13. No. Move Julien to first if AK can’t stay healthy. Infield defense is better when Polanco is playing second base. I know what the metrics say but I don’t believe they are all encompassing.
  14. As to the title of the thread I’m sure the Twins gave plenty of consideration when they decided to cut payroll. Not a decision anyone would take lightly especially knowing it would not be popular. So no they will not be reconsidering cutting payroll. As to the rest of the discussion the Pohlads own the team. We don’t get a vote. If I was deciding I wouldn’t cut payroll right now but I don’t control that so I’m not going to worry about it.
  15. He’s fun to watch. Shoulder injuries scare me. That’s about all I know
  16. I was speaking generally. You’ll notice if you read carefully I didn’t mention Gibsons name. Reading comprehension is a good thing.
  17. I’ve never really bought into the “eat innings” concept. I don’t really care if a guy can go out and pitch 6 innings to a 5.5 era. That generally means you lose. I want no part of pitchers with that profile.
  18. Hyperbole much? Me thinks you are overvaluing Julien just a wee bit. Or maybe a country mile.
  19. I like the Seattle trade. I would substitute Julien for Polanco and hopefully save Priellipp. If we are going to give up prospects let’s get a pitcher that will be a difference maker. Too many question marks with the other pitchers.
  20. Good luck to him. I’m glad we moved on as he is one of the more fundamentally unsound player to play for the Twins.
  21. Lee is a switch hitter who is a plus defender. Julien is a good hitter but is only the strong side of a platoon and his defense is sub par. I would take Lee 10 times out of 10
  22. Ok. Everyone repeat after me. Byron Buxton has a no trade clause. He is not going to be traded. He signed for less money so he could stay in Minnesota. He is not going to be traded.
  23. It’s ironic that Tommy John is so prevalent yet shoulder injuries seem to be the death blow to pitchers. Seems like very few make successful returns after serious shoulder problems. That’s why I want no part of Tyler Mahle. It’s not the TJ it was the shoulder problems he had before that.
  24. I’m really skeptical of his overall prospect value. He’s another guy that really is a DH assuming he can hit mlb pitching which is a big if. Having said that if you are on the forty man there is a decent chance you will be called up due to multiple injuries etc.
  25. He’s already been traded to the Rockies.
