  1. Back in the day when you suspect a bunt was coming you went hard up and in. Preilipp gave him a prime pitch to bunt.
  2. Nice play on both ends. Runner had a good jump.
  3. MLB is brutal on young players. As we’ve seen they can have immediate success but when the league sees them a few times and the book is out they can struggle mightily. Hence TKs quote about not knowing what you have, good or bad, until they have 1000-1500 at bats. With Royce being hurt so frequently it took him a while to accumulate the at bats. Teams definitely know how to pitch to him now. It’s up to him to adjust. I think it’s time to stop referring to Royce as having a lot of “talent” - I don’t think it’s true rather it’s a byproduct of him being drafted 1/1.
  4. To quote Denny Green, the Twins are who we thought they are. The only reason this topic came up is because most of the rest of the league has stunk. I will say it appears Zoll might be a bit more aggressive in these roster moves compared to Falvey. I’m happy he took action.
  5. They are on a 75 win pace which is what many people expected. I don’t view that as terrible but I don’t see any real difference that would suggest we are “in it”. Run differential is a crude stat. The Twins are streaky in that they will score 11 one game and then 1 and 2 the next two games. Total looks fine but you lost two of three.
  6. There is zero chance Houston sees the big leagues next year. Lee will have to hit a crap ton better to play first base on a contending team. I would bring Culpepper up this year but wait until he hits his stride. Hopefully he would come up and never go back.
  7. It’s difficult to say because AAA numbers are so inflated it’s hard to project what someone might do in the bigs. However a good sign would be if he started mashing fastballs. Being able to hit the heater is the first test any hitter gets. If you can’t do it you’re toast. Defensively he’s cooked. If he does start to hit he will need to DH. He’s getting slower and his jumps and routes to the ball have gotten inexplicably worse. His strong arm is not useful because he is mostly inaccurate. My prediction is Wallner will join the group of bat only players Falvey was in love with early in his tenure.
  8. Unfortunately he will be another black hole with the bat, which we have too many already.
  9. Lemons has done well for a waiver wire pickup. I would welcome him on my team as a utility man off the bench. He is not a starter on a contender.
  10. Wow. The Twins have sunk to a new low. This franchise is pathetic.
  11. Not being snarky but Brooks legging out a triple does not remind me of Buck.
  12. Drone shot showed there are about 5000 people at tonight’s game. I’m a little worried about Martin and Lee. Both seem to be regressing.
  13. Royce needs to go wherever the best minor league hitting coach and start from scratch. The idea that he is going to St Paul for a couple weeks and come back mashing is silly. He needs to rebuild his swing and approach and then apply it successfully in the minors. Done properly this is a multiple month process it’s basically his last chance so do it right.
  14. Rojas was great. You can see why they wanted him last year. Still needs better control but the stuff is electric.
  15. I e kind of noticed that Garcia seems to lack control 😀
  16. I think Garcia is actually Pedro Cerrano from Major League.
