  1. I think both are in trouble but of the two Miranda has the better chance. He has to learn the strike zone which is in his control theoretically. Julien just can’t hit MLB pitching which is outside his control. Given that both are liabilities in the field and bad baserunners I’m not sure there is much point in waiting around.
  2. I think what they did is defensible and I don’t care for the FO. They had a bunch of guys approaching their primes. I’m referring to Larnach Wallner Lewis Jeffers Julien Miranda Martin and even Castro to a certain extent. There were question marks with all of them but potential upside existed. If most of them took the next step it would have worked out (and it still could but it’s getting late early). Falvey rolled the dice and came up empty so far. Gotta think the same confidence will not be extended next year (it better not be) meaning these guys better get it going or the Twins need to move on.
  3. Juliens babip in 2023 was 373. Whatever Julien is going to be it ain’t gonna look like 2023. He was a flawed prospect and unfortunately for him and us the flaws are showing up.
  4. One of the few times I will disagree with you - I think Keaschall will struggle to be anything better than ok in the field.
  5. To clarify, I’m speaking about the long term. We also have to see if Lee is going to hit
  6. Royce was the number1 overall pick, primarily because of his athleticism. If he has to DH or play first this will be another developmental failure. Keaschall is not a good fielder and maybe worse than that yet some people want him to play 2nd, a position requiring athleticism, over Royce the top draft pick? Makes no sense.
  7. I was following on mlb gameday. They had Paddack at 92-93 from the very first inning. Don’t know how accurate that is. His stuff seems to vary quite a bit.
  8. As always thanks for these articles. He really was a smart baseball man.
  9. This is correct. Part of the calculus of the contact play is the other runners moving up even if the runner at home is out. When that doesn’t happen the contact play is no longer as effective. On a related note this is my biggest beef about the way the Twins use analytics. They adhere to them rigidly regardless of situation. I’m not putting the contact play on with France at third or the other night when Lee was sent on the contact play and was out by a mile.
  10. How about the real problem? They scored two runs. The pitching did its job the hitters didn’t.
  11. Nice play by Lee but he needs to get rid of the casual flips to first.
  12. Trevor almost got hit in the head with it. Yes it was catchable.
  13. I’m curious if that pitch was a little message about the one close to Bucks head
  14. Watching the Kernels - De Barge playing second has turned two really nice DPs. Quick hands and a strong arm.
  15. I guess I didn’t know we knew what Lee was getting back to?
  16. Alright. Let’s burn up their pen.
  17. Would have been close - much closer than France.
  18. Eddy breaks back to the bag and doesn’t score.
  19. As Bean mentions the Twins have played much cleaner baseball in the field and running the bases. Baders catch was exciting but he also does some little things well like getting to potential doubles quickly and cutting them off thereby holding the batter to a single.
