  1. Too many of these “funny” stories. Leave it to Randball Stu.
  2. I think teams are doing that already. I recently read a quote from a FO type that said as much. I apologize as I can’t remember who it was or which team. I think your comments on development strike to the heart of the matter. For me there is too much attention to prospect and farm system rankings. It’s almost as if that is the game itself. The real question is how many quality big league players has your system produced? IMO on the lineup side the Twins track record under Falvey is underwhelming. It’s the biggest reason I want a change in the FO. I don’t know if it’s drafting or development - ultimately it doesn’t matter as it’s clear the results aren’t there.
  3. I’m happy for Varland. He’s got a good chance to be a big leaguer for a while.
  4. Announced attendance of 12,414. There couldn’t have been more 3000 people there. Paddack, like Festa, just lost it in the fifth. Alcala with 41 pitches. Does he have options left? I’m done with the guy.
  5. Can we please stop with the “superstar in waiting” crap. Royce has proven that he is a streaky hitter who is subpar in the field and not fast anymore. Let’s let him show it on the field before we shower him with accolades. As for where he plays, Lee is the best third baseman if he hits which is still unknown.
  6. Another metric measuring things that cannot be accurately measured. I will say they have made far fewer bonehead plays on the bases this year which is a big improvement all by itself. And Buck being healthy is huge. The guy is so dangerous when he gets on base.
  7. Keaschall makes watching fun. He is pretty fast but his trick is getting great jumps and getting up to speed really quickly. As for his fielding, he was awful. His arm was non existent on the throw from second and he wasn’t close to fielding that short hop. Hopefully first game in the field jitters. If Lee hits he is my third baseman. He looks smooth and comfortable over there with quick enough hands for the hot shots. Clearly better than Royce there. Felt bad for all the players from both teams. Laz Diaz was so bad and inconsistent that you really couldn’t know what to do as a hitter or a pitcher. Finally, if pitchers want to go deeper in games they need to perform when that time comes. Festa got to the fifth and pretty much spit the bit.
  8. To not answer the question I don’t think Falveys is going anywhere regardless of their record so long as the Pohlads own the team. Do I have confidence that his leadership will get us to sustainable success? No I don’t. Being a really good POBO means making a lot of winning decisions. Falveys is decidedly meh in this regard - not horrible but certainly not above average.
  9. This is Falveys 9th season. Would you consider that sufficient job security? To be clear I’m not being snarky as I think you bring up a good point. I feel he is quickly approaching the point where we can draw some firm conclusions about his org philosophies decision making acumen.
  10. Thats no joke. He should be bunting every time he can move a runner over. The sample is beyond large enough - he’s cooked.
  11. Most scouting reports on his defense are not good - lacks the quickness and lateral movement to excel at third. But a slugging first baseman is just fine. Like all defensively limited players the bat will determine where they end up. So far so good for him.
  12. This is interesting- it’s almost like you guys would rather have something to b*tch about than to enjoy the most exciting win of the year.
  13. Ok all you second guessers - thumbs up or down on Varland in the 8th? No thumbs, no second guessing.
  14. Keaschall needed to get two on that.
  15. It’s somewhat a byproduct of a couple of their guiding principles. They have been reluctant to use high draft picks on pitchers so selecting Greene may not have even been on their list. I believe they got Royce to sign for under slot so they got one of the pitchers for over slot. This was one of the first times where I notice that Falvey was going to outsmart everyone. I mean anyone saying they wouldn’t want Greene over Royce right now is crazy but thats hindsight. Royce could still end up being the better pick as they both should have many years left.
  16. This. I think baseball overall has little appeal to people less than 30 years old. The three true outcomes have made watching pretty boring even for an older guy like me that grew up with it. You stack these problems on top of the Twins specific blunders (especially the TV debacle) and you have the perfect storm for apathy.
  17. I don’t “hate” the Pohlads - hate is an emotion that is too strong for sports. I don’t think they are good owners and Thats goes all the way back to relocation and contraction threats. They have made a series of mistakes, especially lately that has likely sealed the deal with most fans. I do believe they have realized they would have a tough time reshaping their reputation with their customers.
  18. I get what you are saying but I assume they are trying to do their best. If they are just not good enough Thats is on the FO to find better players.
