  1. Interesting. Do you say that because he will try to land a long term deal or he thinks he can get more than $30 million next year?
  2. He’s not gonna pass on the $30 million option next year right? I highly doubt the Twins will have an appetite for that.
  3. Here’s the thing. It seems the focus on Paddack relates to injury concerns which are true. My take is the guy isn’t that good. He is not the kind of starter that you wait around for because the production is worth the wait. Go get a starter and worry about Paddack later.
  4. I’m on the fence on this one. I think enough other teams are going to be interested that some team will give a decent prospect for him. Think Tanner Schobel level. I don’t like the walks and the injury history but if we get another injury to a starter it might mean missing the playoffs. And no I don’t think Varland or Festa are the answer now. So if I’m Falvey and I know I’m going after a better starter then I pass. If not I’m calling the Dodgers.
  5. People are focusing on SS too much. SS is really hard which is why there are so many failed SS. And we expect Castro to step in there flawlessly? If he could do that he would be a starter on another team. He is a utility guy and does a decent job at a bunch of positions. That is really valuable in that very few people can do it.
  6. I agree with this assessment. Players with poor throwing arms know it. It becomes a mental challenge when things get hurried. Like you I really liked Polanco but it was obvious he had a throwing issue. Martins arm is worse and he doesn’t have any of the other attributes Jorge brought to the table. I hope I’m wrong but he ain’t gonna make it.
  7. Great game from Pablo. Hat tip to Julien making a couple nice plays and getting a hit. As I have posted about a hundred times the Twins frequently play sloppy baseball. Sometimes it costs them and sometimes it doesn’t. Last night it cost them. I truly believe poor fundamentals have cost the Twins a half dozen games this year.
  8. I agree more than wholeheartedly. Baseball is really hard which is why I don’t get worked up when someone swings and misses on a nasty slider on the outside corner. That’s why botching easy plays is so detrimental and the Twins do it far too often. I think part of it is rooted in the notion of I can play anywhere which I think is complete BS except for a few players. Here is the list of Twins players that can effectively do it: Willi Castro. I hate sloppy baseball.
  9. Martin has a throwing problem. He has pretty much gagged anytime he has had to make an important throw.
  10. The guy swung when the ball was almost in Jeffers glove. Freak play.
  11. I guess not striking out matters.
  12. I will say now I would run Pablo out there for another inning.
  13. If Buck is healthy you want to keep him. If he is not healthy he won’t be in demand from other teams.
  14. I agree with this article as well. Winning draws attention away from the other stuff: losing puts it on the forefront. From a payroll perspective they should be able to manage it because they are in a position now to be able to fill backup roles with cheap young players. I haven’t always been a fan of Falvine as I don’t agree with some of principles they stick to but the results are starting to show. Their pitching is better than it used to be and they have a youngish lineup with more talent on the way.
  15. I think there is value in adding a legit starter even if he’s not playoff caliber. Paddack is worrisome to me and we are also one starter injury away from running Festa and Varland out there. I know a lot of people are big on those two I want nothing to do with them while we are chasing Cleveland.
  16. Yep. I wanted to trade Julien plus prospects last winter to Seattle for one of their starters. I strongly believed at that time he was a big regression candidate which has come to fruition. At this point they would be selling low so I wouldn’t bother. I would play him at first in St Paul and let him battle it out with Kiriloff next spring for the platoon first base spot.
  17. Since you deem them all “true” statements there is no curiosity on your point. You are making excuses for a guy that is a subpar fielder and hasn’t hit well. I wanted the FO to give AK the first base job this year. Boy am I glad they didn’t listen to me.
  18. Were we watching the same Alex Kirilloff? There is a reason they tried to send him to AAA.
  19. I love pitchers who can throw it over. That he doesn’t give up homers either is a pretty good combo. Does anyone have additional info on his secondary pitches?
  20. Sure but the plate is on the side of the ankle. Since he has had it in both feet that would kind of suggest he just has PF. Only a doctor would know for sure but I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions based on this info.
  21. My understanding is what came up in the medicals for the Giants and Mets was the plate in his ankle. Plantar Fasciitis is on the bottom of the foot so I doubt the problems are related
  22. Keaschall is an exciting prospect but is not a 5 tool player. Neither his arm or glove would grade out highly enough to be considered 5 tool. I too would consider SWR more valuable than Festa.
