    I believe we read an article like this every year. It’s kind of silly. Do we think we are the only team with good players hurt that will come back around the deadline?

    If you are just quoting Passen then that isn’t our FO talking. I am unaware of any statements regarding payroll made by the FO or Joe Pohlad in quite some time.

    No quibbles other than they have to keep Camargo. While I wouldn’t count on him I wouldn’t give up on Canterino unless absolutely forced to. I would love to add Margot to the list but Martin just won’t seize the opportunity.

    Will be interesting to watch it unfold. If the Twins pocket this money, well let’s just say Twins Daily will be quite active. I don’t have any idea what they will do but I have no doubt that it wouldn’t bother them a bit to take the money and do nothing.

    That would make sense. Fingers crossed it facilitates a trade for a good starter.

    Has MLB stated when the amount will be determined and when the clubs will be notified? If they don’t specifics before the deadline it won’t do much good for this year.

    I think you are spot on. Martin and Julien in particular are contributing next to nothing and should be optioned to see if they can gain some confidence with the bat. I predicted some strong regression for Julien as his babip last year was not sustainable and his unique approach was certainly going to be adjusted to but the guy has just cratered. I would give Lee a little more run but he has to get a few hits somewhere along the line. I think the chances of Farmer or Margot getting cut are almost nil.

    Because he can get the qualifying offer the return will have to exceed that value. That would be something like Keaschall or better. That’s a lot for 10 starts. The time to add a starter was last winter and the Twins made a mess of that.

    Correct. We will know after it happens. At that point we judge them by their actions and not their words.

    Yea I’m not liking Festas chances against this lineup. He will need 60 pitches to get thru 3.

    Am I missing something? Why is Vasquez hitting with two catchers on the bench? So Buck runs for him but doesn’t pinch hit?

    Nope. I’m not his biggest fan but I feel bad for him. He’s really struggling - he probably needs to go back to St Paul to see if can gain some confidence.

    Yea Lee hasn’t been lighting it up but at least has a chance and can play a couple positions.

    I’m not arguing because I haven’t followed him closely. Didn’t he take this contract because he couldn’t get a long term deal last year? He has been hurt this year and a little up and down so I wouldn’t think things would change that much from a contract standpoint but I could easily be wrong as free agency can be funny. I’m still highly doubtful the Twins would take that chance. Which isn’t an endorsement on my part just my assessment of the payroll situation.
