  1. I would rather have Blewett than Funderburk and it ain’t even close.
  2. Or use the pitching to trade for a bat. They will likely have to do both given the current state of the lineup.
  3. The biggest limiting factor on innings accumulated is efficiency. If you consistently need 90 pitches to get to the fifth you just aren’t going to rack up many innings.
  4. I give Julien credit - he obviously is trying to make adjustments and he certainly looks better than last year. Both guys have a similar problem in that they have to hit - a lot - as they don’t offer anything else. I was of the opinion that Falvey should have given Miranda the first base job this year. I’m glad he didn’t listen to me. France is just ok and he is light years better than Miranda.
  5. His control is not good. If you look at him objectively he has given no indication that he will consistently produce in the big leagues.
  6. It doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is what they do for the Twins. If we were more realistic about prospects we wouldn’t have so many disappointed fans when the “can’t miss” prospect misses.
  7. SWR is an interesting pitcher. He gets by with guts and mixing up four average pitches enough to get guys out eventually. Thought maybe Varland would get a second inning to save some guys. Bader showed why having athletes is important: didn’t contribute with the bat but made an important catch. Time of game: 2:15. Nice crisp game.
  8. Gotta say the Mauer statue is really good.
  9. Lee has already done more than Miranda.
  10. Yea so you missed my point. Truckloads of mistakes have been made on routine plays that happen nearly every game with no apparent consequences. I’m much more concerned about accountability on those plays than on a screwy play we won’t see again for the rest of the year. Make no mistake I’m fine with him getting demoted mainly because he isn’t hitting.
  11. Miranda wasnt hitting at all so the demotion is fine with me. What I find interesting is that his bone head play is now the reason for some “accountability “. It was a bad play but a totally screwy play that Ive not seen before yet it’s the straw that breaks the camels back. Not the mistakes made every game on routine plays that we see over and over. This team makes so many fundamental mistakes nearly every game but this is the one that can’t be tolerated. I don’t get it. Maybe it’s a new era of accountability.
  12. My Twins fan experience today was to turn on the radio and listen to Attebery talk about the size of Bruce Bochy head for an entire half inning. Turned it off. Got home and turned on the TV just in time to see Miranda’s brilliant baserunning. Turned it off. The Twins are horrible at fundamentals and have been for years.
  13. To add on one more downer - if we do blow it up does anybody want this FO in charge of that process?
  14. This. It has kind of been a trait of Falvey from the get go. And there is zero evidence that there unique philosophies actually work.
  15. Those guys are logical candidates but nobody is giving you anything for those guys except Jax and Ober. Here is what I think is the crux of the issue. It doesn’t make sense to blow this thing up if you are still paying Correa and to a lesser degree Buxton. The next question is can you deal them? I don’t think you can because you would have to get them to waive their no trade clauses and find someone that actually wants them. I don’t see anyone (right now) lining up to pay C4 $30+ million a year even if he waives hisNTC. The other factor is that most of the time you are dumping proven veterans in this scenario. Other than some pitching we don’t have that. Who realistically is giving anything for Larnach, Miranda, Julien et al. These are not young players with upside. So my conclusion is that blowing it up sounds good but isnt really an option. If you are keeping C4 and Buck then you want to keep the pitching. I think we better Hope like hell that EmRod and Keaschall are stars.
  16. Agreed. But who are we selling? I would think Castro Bader France Vasquez if anyone would take him - same with Paddack.
  17. Interesting that Culpepper and Winokur are getting The reps at SS. DeBarge and DeAndre in utility like roles.
  18. What could be more fun than watching my retirement savings disappear? Reading how bad the Twins are.
  19. Here is the thing: the manager is a problem in my estimation. One of about 10 huge problems the Twins have. The FO has somehow constructed a lineup that can’t hit, is slow, is unathletic and is poor in the field. We are much further away from winning than a new manager. To be clear: i am not defending Rocco - I’m done with him and the FO. I’m saying our problems go well beyond them.
  20. Free agency won’t be an option anyway. I would wait this out to see if any of these guys step up. It’s hard to know what hole to plug when all you have is holes.
  21. Didn’t see the game. How did Alcalá give up 4 runs without recording an out? That guy can implode with the best (or worst) of them.
  22. My takeaway is that when you can’t score any runs you are only in the game if it is a close game where each mistake or decision is magnified. I will say that of all the reasons proposed for pulling him, not having a reliever start in the middle of an inning is lame. I know it is conventional wisdom in baseball now but if I have a reliever that curls up in the fetal position if they get brought in to the middle of the inning I’m getting a different reliever. Think of how many times this situation comes up during the course of the season.
  23. So Ive typed these observations several times this year. Several good fielding plays were made - all by KC. The Twins made several mistakes which cost them. If you are in close games mistakes are magnified. You are not going to win many close games playing like the Twins are right now. During spring training I mentioned that this season is going to be pivotal to the careers of Larnach Wallner Julien Miranda Martin Jeffers and Lewis. The early returns are not good.
