    I did. It was a close play at second. Royce went back to the bag in a very unaggressive fashion. Again the point is trying to return to a base is a normal baseball play not some high wire act. If you can’t do it we’ve got problems.

    Not getting doubled off second is a normal play. If you can’t dive back to the base without risking significant injury then there is no acceptable level of risk and you simply can’t play the game.

    If you are referring to my post you have mischaracterized what I said in a big way. I referred to being able to play the game normally ie make normal baseball plays. I said nothing about “risking significant injury”.

    I don’t understand the criteria being used for selecting the players but Brad Radke has to be included in any Twins pitching list. Drafted and developed by the Twins and played his entire career here.

    Royce isnt good enough to play this way. If you can’t play the game normally then your value to the team is always going to be limited unless you are a true elite player. On the play where he got doubled off I assumed he made a mental mistake. If he really accepted getting doubled off because he didn’t want to risk injury that’s way worse and he shouldn’t be out there.

    Zebby is living proof that control and command are two different things. He doesn’t walk anybody but does not locate his pitches with accuracy often enough.

    Ok Rocco wouldn’t let a lefty hit against a lefty last year to save his life. Now we have Kiersey hitting against a lefty in a tie game. He had no chance.

    There is potential there but I think you are correct about fans overestimating him. He’s never been good enough that you would say certain big leaguer.

    I saw that comment as well. I don’t get it - you are a pro athlete and are 10 lbs over weight?

    I actually agree with this idea. Why not have a promising young pitcher occupy the last couple spots in the pen instead of the retread vets? The whole “gotta keep em stretched out” theory isnt really valid anymore. Keep them stretched out so they can go 4.2 innings? You could have Festa and Sim or Mathews pitching 3 innings twice a week and save other arms while getting rid of marginal pitchers like Alcala and Funderburk.

    I like this thought process. Pitching roles are changing as we speak. If you forget all the traditional roles there are ways to get innings out of your best pitchers in a variety of ways.

    For once my memory was accurate. Boy would we take a Butch Wynegar on the Twins right now. I remember a game against the Angels I think where Butch got a moth in his ear and the game was delayed quite a bit. Gene Mauch was the manager of the Angels and was throwing a fit. Not sure why that sticks in my mind…… Thanks for this. I hope you do one on Bostock and Joe Cambria.

    The point of my post is a mediocre player on a good contract doesn’t get you closer to winning. Good players get you closer to winning especially at a position where offensive production is important. These good players can be obtained in a variety of ways so you can skip your lecture about how mid market teams acquire players.

    Here, here. Hoping Buck is back and neither have any long term consequences. I can’t get the thought out of my mind how badly Mauer and Morneau were affected by their concussions. It took quite a while and I don’t think either were ever the same after. Both probably had more previous brain trauma then Correa or Buxton so maybe it’s different. Anyway should be a great weekend at Target Field.

    Maybe they will start giving out a trophy at the end of the year for most WAR per payroll dollar spent.
