  1. Royce - you gotta slide. The Twins haven’t been making as many bad plays but that one stunk. Basically eliminated a prime scoring chance.
  2. Agreed. It would be nice to see if he can stick at SS. However he is getting very few starts there as Culpepper is the primary SS. This will be unpopular but I believe Winokur has a higher ceiling at SS then Culpepper.
  3. I think the whole concept of contrition and apologies is baloney. Who knows if they are even sincere? In my view you committed the act so now you live with the consequences and all the other stuff is unimportant. You don’t get to hit the undo button because you say something people want to hear. As far as the references to religion in this thread, it means nothing to me and I’m guessing many others. No place for it on this site.
  4. I remember that he had some good stuff. He could make good hitters look bad but it just never came together for him in the bigs.
  5. Flexor strain for Coulombe. Yikes that’s frequently a precursor to TJ.
  6. The biggest takeaway I see in this comparison is beware of the rebuild. You are guaranteed to suck for several years and there is no guarantee it will work.
  7. If Falvey is so smart why didn’t he keep Coulombe a couple years ago instead of several stiffs that were sent packing quickly?
  8. Players get weeded out at every level including trying to make the jump fromAAA to the bigs. Might be the hardest jump of all. Plenty of players have success in AAA and never stick in the bigs so his numbers in AAA don’t really mean that much.
  9. He’s got some swing and miss in his game but everything else is there. Speed, good hands and a rocket arm. I actually think he is the best SS prospect we have but the Twins obviously view Culpepper as the better SS.
  10. Agreed about the fastball. It either needs to be better ( not sure how that happens) or needs to be thrown less.
  11. I disagree with the notion that the Twins have extra pitching. They have a nice amount of pitching but right now I would rather have SWR, Paddack, Feata and Mathews than more prospects. It’s a long season and we are only in mid - May.
  12. I just hope this isn’t because the league has adjusted to him. My impression of him was a guy that mixed four pitches and was not predictable. I recently saw a pitch breakdown and he was throwing primarily fastball and slider. This is just my feeble memory but he isn’t a guy that can say here is my stuff, see if you can hit it. He has to mix things up and fool guys a bit.
  13. Generally speaking, I find the “funny” articles on TD to be not very funny. Usually sophomoric and predictable. Far, far fewer of these type articles would be an improvement to the site IMO.
  14. Interesting that at the end of the game substitutions were made to remove Lewis for defensive purposes. Buck and Bader save runs with their gloves.
  15. I’ve had similar thoughts- most pro leagues tend to be copy cat leagues. I guess the more flamethrowers there are would make guys like Coulombe more unique? In any event I enjoy watching pitchers getting outs with other methods besides velocity.
  16. This is a fair take we have no idea what Keaschall will do when he returns. Seems we can count on some additional aggressiveness on the bases but hitting wise we would be wise to temper expectations.
  17. Everyone in the lineup has question marks. For me they all have to contribute in some way most games. Whether that is a big hit or run saving catch. Where we get in trouble is when we have guys not hitting, making errors or outs on the bases. Thankfully the pitching should take some of the pressure off
  18. More than anything the win streak means the season should be meaningful. For a while I was worried we were going to have to wait until next year. I don’t do research so this is from memory: the Twins seem to consistently underperform their expected win / loss record. First does anybody know if that is factually true and second how is that calculated? In other words what’s the missing link? Fielding, costly baserunning mistakes, etc?
  19. I’m hopeful on the health front because prior to the plica surgery they could never really identify the problem. On e the plica surgery took place he has had much better health. Buck is always going to be streaky because he embodies the Twins hitting philosophy of try to pull and elevate everything. I think he has the strength and bat speed to still do damage if he took the outside pitch to right center. He had a ringing double the other day doing that. Anyway just so much fun to watch.
  20. It was confusing because of the way it was written. The information provided in the article is not persuasive compared to independent scouting reports. We obviously disagree and that’s fine.
