  1. Somehow Brooks Lee who is a sled caught the foul pop that Jeffers had to catch last night.
  2. Nowhere in my posts did I suggest Royce should be demoted generally or for this play. The catcher ran considerably farther than the third baseman. Royce is playing the game in a limited way.
  3. I thought the same thing. Not only did Jeffers run a long way Royce wasnt even in the TV picture when Jeffers caught it.
  4. Yep. This is the part people are overlooking to a certain extent. We have multiple option to play third Thats are better than this version of Royce.
  5. So how does Jeffers run way down the third base to catch that foul and Royce is not even in the picture?
  6. TK once said “ leadership is a two out double with runners on” or something like that.
  7. Lots of Good information but equally as important is how he is being pitched to. Did pitchers start pitching him differently halfway through last year? Can Royce adjust? I hope he figures it out but many a hitter has burst on the scene only struggle once the league gets a book on them.
  8. Is it as simple as the league has adjusted to him and he has not adjusted back? He doesn’t have that many mlb at bats. It’s quite a common scenario with young players.
  9. Forbes reported the Twins made $19 million in 2023. I have not seen any estimates for 2024. I find no credibility in your “it has been reported” statement.
  10. I think he was referring to front office and some people’s belief that they try to save face in their personnel decisions. To the other point, I’m completely confident Royce wants out of this slump more than anyone. It’s a weird social dynamic that people want to assign fault in all situations of failure.
  11. I was referring to Wichita as I was out of the loop for a week. Agreed on his fielding ability but I think he could get better through better conditioning. Without getting too personal he doesn’t have the physique of a pro athlete.
  12. Apparently Gonzalez has been promoted. I’m not his biggest fan due to defensive limitations but always good to see someone go earn a promotion through superior performance. Hoping K Culpepper is next.
  13. I’m no SABR metric genius but the idea behind no such thing as “clutch” is based on research that shows clutch numbers being random from year to year and player to player. There probably are players that tighten up in those moments and others that lock in better in those moments but I think the research shows that for the vast majority of players it’s just random.
  14. I think it may be as simple as he makes contact more often than other players.
  15. I did. It was a close play at second. Royce went back to the bag in a very unaggressive fashion. Again the point is trying to return to a base is a normal baseball play not some high wire act. If you can’t do it we’ve got problems.
  16. Not getting doubled off second is a normal play. If you can’t dive back to the base without risking significant injury then there is no acceptable level of risk and you simply can’t play the game.
  17. If you are referring to my post you have mischaracterized what I said in a big way. I referred to being able to play the game normally ie make normal baseball plays. I said nothing about “risking significant injury”.
  18. I don’t understand the criteria being used for selecting the players but Brad Radke has to be included in any Twins pitching list. Drafted and developed by the Twins and played his entire career here.
  19. Royce isnt good enough to play this way. If you can’t play the game normally then your value to the team is always going to be limited unless you are a true elite player. On the play where he got doubled off I assumed he made a mental mistake. If he really accepted getting doubled off because he didn’t want to risk injury that’s way worse and he shouldn’t be out there.
  20. Zebby is living proof that control and command are two different things. He doesn’t walk anybody but does not locate his pitches with accuracy often enough.
  21. Given that you are a die hard fan you will need to attend tomorrow using your own cash money.
  22. Why was Royce tipping his hat to the guy catching his fly ball to the warming track?
