  1. Very well reasoned post. Being a big leaguer is really hard - I’ve always believed each of these guys is trying their best regardless of outcome. If they aren’t good enough that’s more on the FO for not finding better players. I will admit to getting frustrated when basic mental errors are made - it always amazes me that guys get to the bigs while making basic mental errors.
  2. The end of pitch to contact came from batters adjusting their launch angle to golf the sinkers out of the park. Pitchers responded to this with velocity up in the zone. Because it’s not common I think an Ober style pitcher can succeed but you really have to hit your spots.
  3. Another of the all bat, nothing else prospects we gathered frequently for a period of time. Even if he starts hitting he needs to be a DH.
  4. From memory, didn’t Royce sign under slot? I think we may have fell victim to Falvey is the smartest guy in the room syndrome.
  5. Forgot to add that Gray made two outstanding plays catching foul pops. Snarkily I will submit they were the two best defensive plays made by a Twins third baseman this year. For a low wattage pick up he’s been pretty good.
  6. Sim was obviously not sharp. It seems like his split is not the same or the league has figured it out. I have to say the Twins defense was putrid. Keaschall is not good in the field; in fact he’s really bad. He can’t throw and he has Julien like whiffs on routine plays. I’m kind of surprised as he is athletic enough but he is just not getting it done.
  7. I was hopeful Royce would bounce back this year as he cleaned up his swing but alas…. I still wish he would lower his hands and he still looks off balance on a lot of swings but I still think his main problem is his swing decision making. He seems slow to recognize what the incoming pitch is so he ends up late on the fastball and lunging on outside breaking balls. Perhaps that’s another way of saying his confidence is shot. If that’s the case mashing some AAA pitching might be the answer.
  8. I enjoy these articles. Always good to read about the farm.
  9. Obers change is so good it gives him something to build around even if it means pitching backwards. Really fun to watch. Perez is nasty.
  10. Thanks for that. When I read it I could picture it in my mind. He’s kind of got the quiet approach at the plate that Harmon had too. He squared up two as well as you can.
  11. Honestly I was surprised that the Athletic dedicated two writers to the Twins from the get go. It’s a dramatically changing landscape so I’m glad I don’t have to figure it out. Gleeman is in kind of a unique situation with the equity he has built in this market. I do feel “specialty” coverage of a given team has its place for hard core fans but there will definitely be a ceiling
  12. For me it’s all about what is best for the development of the player. Presumably MLB teams have people that can recognize when a prospect is ready. I don’t care what the Twins record is or who is playing SS currently. When it is deemed that KC is ready bring him up. If he is not let him continue to develop in St Paul. I appreciate the in depth nature of this article. I wish a little more of it was dedicated to his fielding.
  13. I think you are correct about the trades indicating a lack of confidence in Matthew’s, Festa etc. And they have been proven correct so far. Regarding trading the expiring contract players we win those trades automatically because we weren’t bringing them back and their contributions for the rest of 2025 were not needed because the Twins weren’t winning. Seems like this is the kind of trade Falvey had success with.
  14. I would like to point out that errors are not even a statistic with any meaning. That Rojas didn’t get an error on the swinging bunt play is embarrassing to the game.
  15. Rojas has huge upside if he can gain some command. Not surprised that Fundy got sent down. The guy has no control - you can’t have bullpen guys walking a guy an inning (his whip is sky high). Do not understand the love he gets.
  16. Bittersweet for me. I’m happy for Larnach. Small sample but it looks like he is rejuvenating his career. He is better in the field and hitting much better. All of this improvement at age 29 is unexpected. That’s kind of the problem too. A club can’t wait on guys for 3-4 years to figure things out which is kind of what the Twins do. They’ve had way too many of these guys hanging around. Are we going to wait until Royce is 29 to make a decision?
  17. Unbelievable. It’s almost like the human body wasn’t meant to throw 98 mph.
  18. And Taj to the IL and Adam’s recalled. That will solve our bullpen problems 😀
  19. My question is while “leaning in” did the Twins fall over?
  20. I think the final tally is quite accurate. Good work folks.
  21. I wasn’t a fan if the signing because I just didn’t think it was wise to use up that much payroll (Twins payroll) on a single player. Turns out I was right on that one. Part of the reason I didn’t want to sign him was I thought Royce could be the SS of the future. Boy was I wrong on that one. I did enjoy watching Correa particularly in the field. Correa throwing and Buck running were reasons enough to tune in.
  22. Way too early to tell. He is in the right place at the right time. And I agree with the others - if he pitches well he will be moved to a set up role quickly. The competition isn’t real stiff.
  23. Maybe more importantly I can’t recall any / many sends where the runner was DOA. He’s done a good job.
