  1. His hitting profile is kind of what the Twins lineup needs. Obviously he has a couple more levels to conquer but the bat looks like a good fit for the big club. He is not a good fielder but does have a good arm. He has one opportunity to improve in the field: get in better physical condition. Without getting personal he doesn’t appear to have the fitness level of a big leaguer.
  2. No matter how the club plays between now and the deadline I am not buying. This offense is in need of an overhaul that is not possible at the deadline. As is the offense craters so frequently it makes getting to the playoffs unlikely and even if they get there and playoff caliber pitching will shut the offense down hard. I would sell on all expiring contracts and one of Larnach or Wallner (my main off season goal is adding an athletic plus outfielder). I would listen on Durán but would have to be blown away. Julien, Miranda and Stewart would all be available in trade as well.
  3. I would have bets lots that Hrbek had a three homer game.
  4. As always an interesting topic. I think SWR will provide good value to the Twins. He will likely always be a 4th or 5th starter but that is still valuable - he sets a decent floor for the rotation. He’s been durable which is valuable in and of itself. I think if he can gain experience using his whole arsenal of average pitches that will be his “strength” and he will be able to go a little longer in games. He seems to compete well on the mound which some of our other pitchers could learn from.
  5. This is a perfect example of why I want a new FO. The bad decisions outweigh the good decision by a margin that says failure. They are not particularly good at developing players and make lots of player evaluation mistakes. Nobody is perfect but they just aren’t good enough in these two areas.
  6. I’m glad they pulled the plug. Biomechanics are tricky things - if he compensated for the hip with a bad movement it could injure his arm which would be really bad.
  7. Agreed. At this point I would bring up Julien and let him play second and Lee at third. And I’m not really a fan of Julien but that is how strongly I believe Royce needs to get healthy and right in the batters box.
  8. I think the group of good young players plus Skubal is a little more important.
  9. Certainly appears that the impending move. I think it would be a huge mistake as well.
  10. Strong game by Brooks Lee at third. He looks like our best fielder there. If he can get an extended run there we might have a solid left side of the infield.
  11. Perhaps Lucas can weigh in here but I’ve been told by Physical Therapists that muscle pulls are a result of weak muscles and / or muscle imbalances not lack of flexibility.
  12. Agree on all counts particularly number 3. They are going to have to win close games to make the playoffs and Thats means fundamentally strong baseball something they frequently struggle with.
  13. I feel like the chatter about the pipeline started too soon. Fans got excited when these college pitchers started having success at AA and AAA. However the biggest jump is to the show so we really don’t know yet about guys like Festa, Mathews and even SWR. Hope for the best but let’s not be surprised if several don’t make it.
  14. The lineup needs a jolt. A jolt bigger than what can be done at the deadline. I would sell at this point. Not strip it down as I think it can be re tooled in the off season.
  15. Paddack looks afraid to challenge their hitters. Nibble, nibble.
  16. Hans - Are you aware that Buck has a full no trade clause? He’s not going anywhere.
  17. Me too. My guess is the higher totals are a combo of wanting them to gain experience stealing even if they get thrown out plus catchers were don’t throw as well, pitchers who don’t hold runners and are wild and infielders not as adept applying tags. The Cardinals back in the day were one of my favorite teams because they ran so much.
  18. Thanks for the thoughtful post. I was going to do a slight variation of this but will just include it here for better discussion. This last off season I wrote about 2025 being a make or break year (to varying degrees) for a bunch of players. The FO bet on these players which was a defensible position given their ages and experience levels. In this group I included Miranda, Jeffers, Martin, Julien, Larnach and to a lesser extent Wallner and Lewis. I didn’t include pitchers in my post. None of these players have taken a clear step forward. IMO Larnach and Jeffers have treaded water. The others have disappointed in degrees varying from injury disappointment to complete cratering. Of course all have another half season to improve their play. The other complicating factor is that they are all slow (except Martin) and all are below average or worse defensively. Unless something changes dramatically most of these guys shouldn’t be counted on when planning for 2026.
