  1. I hear ya. Hopefully he’s healthy and just trying to get his mechanics straightened out. Even as is he would still be an acceptable #5 starter. We need all the starters we can get.
  2. It was crazy how easily Lee beat out that bunt and the bunt was just pushed over to the left side. This seems like something teams should be doing against the shift. Keaschall/ Martin / Larnach in the outfield……woof.
  3. I dont worry about the power aspect. He apparently has a sound swing - don’t mess with it. The power will develop as he matures and gains experience as a hitter. I don’t have any pre-set expectations for this year. Get healthy, gain development in AAA and come up to the Twins when it is right for his development. Does anyone know if he has resumed baseball activities yet?
  4. We will eventually find out through their performance. If I had to guess I would say yes in the field. Kpepper has the stronger arm and greater speed and athleticism. I’m not high on Lee as a SS but I give him credit for having good hands and turning routine plays into outs reliably. Anyone’s guess on who ends up being the better hitter. Both could succeed or fail but I look forward to finding out a lot more this year.
  5. That will certainly vary from person to person. I think language is interesting and important. Good writing will be above it. For me it’s about in the same category as outfielders throwing to the wrong base 😀
  6. Seems like an inaccurate ranking considering the Twins have played in a weak division for a while.
  7. I try not to get too worked up over grammatical errors especially on a site like this but since you opened the door….my pet peeve is the overuse of trendy jargon. I predict a summer of references to “post- hype” prospects. Another example being “lean into” or my favorite “intentional or intent”. As in the Twins made an intentional decision to run more. You mean there is an unintentional decision? Terms like this cast a bad light on the author in my opinion.
  8. KC is an important prospect for the Twins. If he can’t play legit SS in the bigs the Twins will either spend lots of money or trade capital to solve this problem. With his strong arm he should be able to play a little deeper ala Correa which helps his range. Here’s hoping….
  9. This has been posted before here. The walk rate with men on was really high and yea he’s going to suffer when it comes to hitting a flare to left to drive in a run but hitting solo homers isn’t necessarily his fault.
  10. I give him credit in that he’s trying to make adjustments. He is less open in his stance and has toned down the leg kick. Hopefully that closes up some holes in his swing. While I’m not a fan of three outcome baseball, if you will ever accept strikeouts its for a guy like Wallner and his power. The whole clutch thing is overblown. It’s more a function of the Twins not having many baserunners and opposing pitchers pitching carefully to him with men on.
  11. I agree with this. This is not a team that should be paying top dollar for pitchers or players in their 30s. Especially since starting pitcher seems to be an area of relative strength
  12. Whatever you want to call it, Zebby is a great example. In the minors he walked nobody because he threw it over and the hitters couldn’t make him pay. In the bigs, they can and are.
  13. I’m usually skeptical of prospects and reports on prospects. However I’m surprised at the lack of enthusiasm in this article given that he’s 19 and in high A. We take some 22 year old college pitcher and stick him in A ball and everyone gets excited when they have a whiff of success. Catching is really hard so I’m more than willing to believe that given some time he will get better. A left handed power hitting catcher is worth taking a chance on and worth waiting for.
  14. Sometimes I think people assume bad teams are “young”. The Twins are not a young team.
  15. Thanks for the info. Not surprised at all. Thought maybe Mendez would start in St Paul playing first
  16. I think his defense in CF is overrated but they brought him back and he has had a good spring so if that is what they were looking for it’s happened. I believe he would get claimed so unless Zoll is different than Falvey he will likely make the club. Maybe it’s only for a couple months but their track record in situations like this is pretty clear. Want to be clear - this what I think will happen not necessarily what I would do
  17. I said most of another year. He’s hurt right now with no spring training under his belt meaning he won’t start playing actual games until May at the soonest. Then he needs to perform at AAA as his numbers there last year indicated he was adjusting to AAA. Assuming he performs and doesn’t get hurt that puts a promotion date around August 1st. And it’s okay, he’s still young and can fulfill his potential.
  18. That was a weird play. Kind of an underarm throw that put Lee in a vulnerable position. Should have been two and would have prevented one run.
  19. Lots of good info here. Will be fun to watch for changes going forward, particularly what role Clemens gets.
  20. This is not a credible article. He needs most of another year in AAA. This is how the hype train gets going.
  21. There are some (few) players who can play multiple positions reasonably well. The Twins mistake is thinking that every player can do it.
  22. Each of these players is in a different boat so comparing them in the same way doesn’t make sense. Larnach is hardly a prospect and is what he is - a borderline player. SWR has already made it - he was projected to be 4/5 starter and has done that the last two years. Even Wallner is kind of a finished product he’s just not the product we were hoping for. Lewis, Lee and Martin are really the ones this premise applies to.
  23. Seems like a pretty decent number of players coming through. We do need Lewis to become the player drafted 1-1 should be.
