  1. And apparently free agency isn’t an option so yea doesn’t look good.
  2. It’s easy to understand why they didn’t want to keep SWR. Smh
  3. I believe those two homers end to end would reach Lakeville.
  4. Happy for Vanimal and Chief that they got see a comeback and sorry they will have to witness Lawrence.
  5. I assume they moved Lee in anticipation of Culpepper being up or perhaps they know Lee is destined to be a third baseman and want to get him started on that path.
  6. It’s pretty much been his problem since he came up. To say “if he can only keep it off the barrel he will be good” seems empty.
  7. So much for “we can build a bullpen on the fly”.
  8. This has been the worst plate umpiring I’ve seen this season.
  9. Yea and they even screwed up the positioning of the cutoff man.
  10. The tag was to his chest. His hand made it to the base.
  11. More stunning defensive play from Wallner. He should sit.
  12. It’s bad enough that Gray can’t play but does he have to be brain dead too?
  13. It’s also tough to quantify in a vacuum. You can live with a slightly below average defender if they can really hit. Likewise if combined slightly below average defense with a mediocre bat you have a problem. A problem the Twins face all over the diamond.
  14. Buck has full 10 and 5 rights - full no trade. I want him to stay and finish his career here. However if he wants to go, he’s earned the chance to play for a ring.
  15. Thanks for the interesting post. Full disclosure: I’m a bit of a fielding metric skeptic however these numbers pretty much match the eye test. I consider Martin more average but he has improved for sure. Bell at +1 is a head scratcher as he is a genuinely bad fielder. A real SS would help immensely but realistically they could improve everywhere except CF and when Clemens plays first. Of course the real challenge is finding players that can hit and field.
  16. This. It’s time to be decisive with this roster. Play Royce nearly everyday for the rest of this year. If he doesn’t turn it around move on. I would wait a little longer with Lee but not much or he is the utility guy. Larnach should be gone and Wallner too unless he really turns it around. Same for Martin, he will not be a starter with this level of production. This FO had to stop waiting until guys are 28 years old to decide if they are part of a winning team
  17. I think there are several reasons we where we are: 1 Falvey early drafting strategy drafting bat first players 2 Lack of development 3 Maybe most importantly being indecisive about roster construction. Larnach is a good example - we should have moved on and pursued other better options but whatever method they used to decide told them to hang on. I don’t think there is any doubt now that you have to finish the teardown at the deadline. People are all excited about our farm system. I don’t see it. Hopefully Culpepper makes it and Jenkins will be good. That’s two guys and we need upgrades all over the place. The one bright spot is starting pitching- truly something to build around.
  18. To me it looks like his off speed stuff is not fooling anyone. The fastball plays but there is a big drop off after that. The last few times I’ve watched he was struggling with control as well.
