  1. Excellent topic and welcome compared to beating various dead horses. I’m afraid I don’t have anything to offer since it’s unclear to me what they are actually trying to do. I know they have stated they are trying to win but I don’t really see it. I think they are trying to not be horrible while making some money in 2026. If this is the case then it doesn’t really matter. If they were really trying to win they would upgrade one of the corner outfield spots via trade or free agency. I knew that was dead when they tendered Larnach. So, since I don’t see them contending I would trade Larnach and Julien if that is even possible and roll with Roden / Martin in left. At least those guys might be part of the future. As crazy as it sounds I would give Outman 2 months to show something but be quick to cut him if he sucks. All of these guys will leave if / when EmRod, Jenkins and GG are ready for the bigs. Overall goal is to have a vision of what the future outfield is going to look like by the end of the year and I doubt any / many of these current MLB guys are part of the plan. There is no there, there.
  2. Perhaps they should just have him play with his left foot on the bag. He’ll never be late to the bag or allow a hit down the line. Seriously does anyone think this doesn’t have other consequences? If Bell has to be closer to the bag that leaves more territory for the second baseman to cover. Not like we are stellar there either
  3. I really don’t care what he says. I’ll be judging by his actions. If he really has been in charge for a month then it’s business as usual, which is not acceptable.
  4. This will sort itself out. They need to find four infielders that can hit and play good defense. Right now they have zero. They do have some possibilities but this season needs to be the year it gets figured out. I’m not worried where Lee is going to play because until he proves he can be an effective mlb hitter he won’t play anywhere. Keaschall has promise but he has to keep it up because he isn’t good to contribute much on defense. Royce is now at the point where “potential” becomes a dirty word. They had the same situation with the outfield a couple years ago and have been waiting around for them to develop ever since let’s not make the same mistake with the infield.
  5. The most interesting comment to me was the reference to running the same playbook over and over and expecting a different result. Falvey is a one trick pony and that trick ain’t working so Tom will get a chance to show us if he is serious.
  6. So Ryan or Lopez can’t bring back a player that can help fill one of those holes longer term? Or even Ober or SWR?
  7. Here is a wild idea. Trade for a controlled first baseman that actually could solve the problem. I’ve heard that one way to be a good team is to add good players. Just tossing out wild ideas here……
  8. This is it in a nutshell. And you just took of those opportunities and chucked it out the window.
  9. Business as usual. There were two obvious spots where we could acquire a difference making bat - first base and one of the corner outfield spots. I guess that’s not happening.
  10. He has a strong arm but not especially accurate and all the teams know it. Totally agree on your assessment of both Wallner and Larnach.
  11. If you ignore the Falvey word salad and look at what they’ve actually done it really doesn’t seem like they are trying this year. First off, they blew up their bullpen which they knew would take time to rebuild. They’ve signed nobody and made two very minor trades. Their actions don’t scream compete. I think the org philosophy is to try to win as many games as they can with a payroll less than $100 million. The Pohlads make their desired profit and the Twins win enough games to placate the masses.
  12. I really don’t have heartburn about the lack of free agent spending. For mid market teams big free agents contracts are risky business. What drives me nuts is the lack of aggressiveness in making the roster better. This lineup has been poor by any measure for several years but we just roll the same lineup out there and hope this is the year everyone figures it out. Be proactive and try to address deficiencies.
  13. And this list, my friends, is why Kody Clemens will be your starting first baseman. Seriously, if you are going to try this year then make a trade for a potential solution at first base.
  14. I love all of this other than handing a job to ERod. This squad has a much better chance next year and way more upside going forward.
  15. I get the feeling that some people don’t want to “rebuild” because it is risky to trade Ryan and Lopez because the return could completely flop. Of course this is true. My view is that it is also very risky to hold onto Ryan and Lopez, run back essentially the same club and win 76 games next year followed by a disrupted season in 27. We could end up in essentially the same spot but we wasted two trade assets that could lift us to a serious WS window of contention. Could Falvey thread the needle next year? Sure, just like it’s possible to flip heads 5 times in a row. If running back this same squad means there is a 65% likelihood that they win less than 80 games I’m all in on rolling the dice for a chance to develop a club that could be special.
  16. This is what I’ve been saying. If you look at it objectively this lineup has been poor for several years but just wait they are going to get better. Now we have the same lineup problem with a non-existent bullpen.
  17. My two cents……I am not worried about where to play Lee. He has to hit a lot better or his position will be Left Out. He would be fine at SS if we were going into a rebuild but supposedly we are trying to win so then we waste assets getting a stop gap? I’m hopeful about Culpepper but he has to successfully advance two more levels which is no sure thing. I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves with him. So the idea that we will live with Lee at SS for a couple months until Culpepper takes over has serious risk for a team trying to win now. Combined with the mess that is the bullpen this whole situation doesn’t add up to trying to win.
  18. Very good observations. LK was not considered a plus defender when drafted but it was kind of covered by his arm injury. Now that he should be fully healthy we can finally see what his arm will be. It shouldn’t take an experienced baseball person long to determine how his arm will play. IMO there is a real possibility that he can really only play first base.
  19. Kind of surprised they didn’t find a pitcher they could put in the bullpen. Plenty of opportunities.
  20. Good discussion. My biggest fear is that the Pohlads have given Falvey a mandate to not spend much money and don’t suck. Hence our current roster which will likely be below 500 but not horrible while the team turns a tidy profit.
  21. The Dodgers obviously don’t read Twins Daily.
  22. I agree with this. The Twins system is filled with 45 FV prospects. We need quality or pass.
