  1. Ok call me a purist or a curmudgeon but Harrison Bader and Henry Aaron should never even be in the same topic of conversation.
  2. He would stand out next to Hank Aaron? Either you are a little excited or completely unaware of Hank Aaron’s career.
  3. Raya has never really put up top notch numbers in the minors which is concerning. He has somehow made it to AAA anyway. He is very much a borderline prospect in my view.
  4. Interesting info - thanks for compiling it. I think some people have positive impressions of the job he has done because he ushered in the analytics era for the Twins. To take a more global view, the job of a POBO involves lots of decisions. Who you hire or fire; who you draft, who you trade and on and on. When judged on that basis Falvey has a mediocre track record - not horrible but not strong enough. One of his downfalls is lack of flexibility in his decision making process. I get the impression that he is open to change but only after the sample size is large enough to make him feel comfortable. Unfortunately in some areas that means entire seasons must pass. IMO the best leaders base their structures around analytics but have enough baseball experience and acumen to adjust before the answer is plain to see for everyone.
  5. I don’t know if he will hit but he never playing third in the bigs. Get him to first now so he can be competent there in case he does hit. You don’t develop plus fielders at a given position by not having them play there.
  6. I think this is correct. FWIW Brooks looks better at third than second to me.
  7. I think they are interesting to look at mainly to confirm or deny what my impression was of the game. I don’t blame them for outcomes.
  8. Didn’t see the game but I bet it was fun watching Buck score from first on that double.
  9. Julien babip in 2023 was 373. He hasn’t been good otherwise.
  10. It makes me really nervous that Em Rod has a similar hitting profile to Julien. I think his bust potential is higher than people around here would like to admit. He does bring something with the glove so that helps.
  11. I think both are in trouble but of the two Miranda has the better chance. He has to learn the strike zone which is in his control theoretically. Julien just can’t hit MLB pitching which is outside his control. Given that both are liabilities in the field and bad baserunners I’m not sure there is much point in waiting around.
  12. I think what they did is defensible and I don’t care for the FO. They had a bunch of guys approaching their primes. I’m referring to Larnach Wallner Lewis Jeffers Julien Miranda Martin and even Castro to a certain extent. There were question marks with all of them but potential upside existed. If most of them took the next step it would have worked out (and it still could but it’s getting late early). Falvey rolled the dice and came up empty so far. Gotta think the same confidence will not be extended next year (it better not be) meaning these guys better get it going or the Twins need to move on.
  13. Juliens babip in 2023 was 373. Whatever Julien is going to be it ain’t gonna look like 2023. He was a flawed prospect and unfortunately for him and us the flaws are showing up.
  14. One of the few times I will disagree with you - I think Keaschall will struggle to be anything better than ok in the field.
  15. To clarify, I’m speaking about the long term. We also have to see if Lee is going to hit
  16. Royce was the number1 overall pick, primarily because of his athleticism. If he has to DH or play first this will be another developmental failure. Keaschall is not a good fielder and maybe worse than that yet some people want him to play 2nd, a position requiring athleticism, over Royce the top draft pick? Makes no sense.
  17. I was following on mlb gameday. They had Paddack at 92-93 from the very first inning. Don’t know how accurate that is. His stuff seems to vary quite a bit.
  18. As always thanks for these articles. He really was a smart baseball man.
  19. This is correct. Part of the calculus of the contact play is the other runners moving up even if the runner at home is out. When that doesn’t happen the contact play is no longer as effective. On a related note this is my biggest beef about the way the Twins use analytics. They adhere to them rigidly regardless of situation. I’m not putting the contact play on with France at third or the other night when Lee was sent on the contact play and was out by a mile.
  20. How about the real problem? They scored two runs. The pitching did its job the hitters didn’t.
  21. Nice play by Lee but he needs to get rid of the casual flips to first.
