  1. Defense in mid season form. Lees lack of range is not ideal but it is a physical limitation. Martin throwing to the wrong base is an inexplicable mental mistake. That’s a play that you learn in Legion ball. Would have been a tie ball game. I don’t think Martin is the sharpest knife in the drawer.
  2. Each season is unique, so I see no correlation. Anything can happen so sure let’s hope for the best. Whats likely to happen is something different.
  3. He made swing changes so he’s trying. At this point I’m not hoping for 1-1 draft level performance. I would settle for solid production on both sides of the ball.
  4. Credit to Wallner - he made changes to his swing and looks much better. I think people are going to be disappointed in Preilipp I know he has quality stuff but he really hasn’t been that good in the minors and was mediocre last year at AAA. Stuff is great but when your whip is 1.5 something is wrong. Hopefully he is still regaining control after TJ.
  5. I think you nailed it Nick. Baseball is always more enjoyable when you have decent starting pitching and I believe the Twins have that. Buck is always worth watching and Keaschall is exciting as well. And it’s always interesting to watch young players try to make the jump to the show. I just hope that, once they prove they are ready, the Twins are aggressive about giving them that chance.
  6. They’ve been bad in spring training already. Almost every game there is a play or two not made. Nothing more frustrating for me than watching a bad fielding team.
  7. Well said. I too am interested, not necessarily optimistic. I will watch 100+ games as every baseball season is precious and the Twins are my favorite team.
  8. This is a question I am interested in. Unfortunately it appears to be business as usual at least so far. Not surprised as Falvey hired Zoll so they likely share similar ideas about roster construction.
  9. This. I keep seeing references to young players. This isn’t a young team at all.
  10. Glad to see Martin back in there.
  11. This is my view. I thought they were one, maybe two bats away from being good until the fire sale.
  12. Abel clearly won the job but I would have played the service time game with him. He may turn out to be a stud starter and we will want that extra year.
  13. Watching the replay. Holy cow Trevor Larnach is a bad outfielder. Hard to believe our brain trust brought him back.
  14. This. Tom Pohlad thinking he knows something about baseball is a far bigger problem than Falvey was and I was no Falvey fan.
  15. Don’t any one worry, Tom Pohlad said an over / under of 73.5 is “ridiculous” so we got that going for us. BTW I’m taking the over - the lineup is going to exceed expectations and the bullpen will be lights out. Put me down for 74 wins 😀
  16. Agreed Doc. Really enjoyed the game. First time watching Ellwanger pitch. A bit like Hill lots of good pitches that need to be harnessed a bit but he was 98 consistently with a good old fashioned curveball. I don’t know if KPepper will be a big league SS but he’s a really good athlete that will play somewhere. I really hope the Twins commit to some of these guys. Don’t rush them to the bigs but when their development is finished in AAA bring them up. This franchise needs to turn the page and these guys are worth giving a good shot.
  17. Just let the guy play. I like that he is an “all around” hitter so I will take whatever power happens naturally while maintaining that overall batting profile.
  18. Interesting. It might be deserved but I don’t think Zoll has the cajones to make that move.
  19. I’m still anticipating the Twins will add someone released by another team to fill this role.
  20. I am very interested in finding out I think it is a given that big league pitchers are not going to let him sit there and walk a lot. He is going to have to make them pay when they fill up the zone. If he can make enough contact we are onto something If the swing and miss prevails we have Julien all over again (with the bat). It sure would be nice to have an athletic outfielder that can run a little in the corners.
  21. Funderburk is not a young pitcher and outside of 20 innings last year he hasn’t been very good. The best possible outcome for the Twins is if Chafin and Rogers both pitch well and get flipped at the deadline. That will be worth more than giving Funderburk the job out of spring training. He will get plenty of chances no matter what.
