Sim is not Cy Young but the guy competes. He is always going to have baserunners because his stuff isnt that good but he will always stick in there. Love to have him as my 5th starter for the next 5 years.
Questeds start is encouraging. The rest of the list doesn’t excite me much. Rosario and Gonzalez have a similar challenge - they have to hit at a very high level as they are challenged defensively. Actually Gonzalez is essentially a DH as he is borderline unusable in the field. I guess we know how the Twins view DeAndrade as he is fourth in line for SS reps in A ball.
I try not to get too excited about any prospect but Hill is someone that is exciting for sure. Three good pitches plus command at his age is special- being a lefty doesn’t hurt either. Will be interesting to see what his development path is - I’m guessing they take it easy with him this year and next.
I think the biggest concern is a similarity: they both k at a very high rate in the minors. That doesn’t portend well for success in the big leagues and likely the reason neither have or will get a shot in the bigs.
Correct. High level D1 ball is pretty close to high A. Always important to remember when older college guys do well in A ball - it’s not much of a jump. AA is usually the first real test for this type of player and usually a place you start seeing guys failing hard.
His command is off - the stuff is still there. He will get it back but it might take a couple outings. You have to send him out there as we need him if we are going to have a chance. He doesn’t get out of this rut sitting in the bullpen.
Yep. I wanted Varland to go two innings but even then Jax would still pitch. He had a stretch like this a couple years ago and then was one of the top relievers in baseball last year.
I’m really surprised especially after acquiring Bride. It will be fun to see what he can do but I’m not sure I would be starting the service time clock just yet. I wonder if this means Castro and Correa are hitting the IL.
I also was one who wanted Miranda to be given the job. France is clearly better as I fear Miranda is circling the drain.
That said, teams that aspire to deep playoff runs aren’t adding the Ty Frances of the world as their big free agent signing.
Thanks for compiling this information. Not really surprised. Teams lose because they are not very good. I see posters referring to all the talent on the Twins. As fas the lineup goes, I don’t see it.
