  1. Said this before the season started - teams that make lots of mistakes will do poorly in close games where each missed play is magnified. If they were scoring 5 runs a game some of this stuff wouldn’t cost them games but they aren’t so it does.
  2. This team and fundamental mistakes. Unreal.
  3. I wonder if being in the bullpen is easier on a pitchers arm. Obviously the starter is going to pitch more innings but they do so in a very controlled way. They have a uniform amount of time between starts and off day throwing is very controlled and managed. Starting days have a well thought out routine that takes considerable time before the actual game. Within the game they get removed as soon as fatigue starts to effect the quality of their pitches. Relievers pitch a varied schedule. They are asked to warm up in 5-10 minutes and then come into the game pitching with max velocity. Relievers don’t do the controlled side work that would help build skills and arm strength. I don’t profess to know the answer and am unaware of any studies done on the subject but it might be an example of conventional wisdom that isnt really true.
  4. Or the crack of the bat or the organ music or anything really
  5. Wow. Franca and Miranda as defensive substitutions was not on my bingo card
  6. I would not have gotten that one for a long time. I like this bit.
  7. Remember Danny Santanas “breakout” year? I believe he hit over 300 and had an incredible season. His babip was 400 or something like that - it was a total fluke. The next year and the rest of his career were “normal” years for him meaning not very good. Juliens babip for 2023 was 373. Pitchers had never seen him or his unusual approach at the plate. I hope Eddy succeeds. I have no idea where he ends up. But when forming an opinion on Juliens potential forget about 2023 - Thats is not him.
  8. They brought back essentially the same lineup so it can’t be shocking that things look the same. I’m assuming the players are trying their best. Perhaps they just aren’t good enough. If that is true then this is on Falvey and ownership.
  9. I have to say some of his comments are weird. I’m not going to criticize somebody for getting hurt - Thats just not right. But for him to call what he does as “special” I just don’t know what to say to that. He’s had a few stretches of excellent hitting. He’s been mostly poor in the field and is no longer an elite runner. He has a crap ton to prove to be a reliable major leaguer. I hope he will do it and I think he will but no way has he done it yet. I have to say I think someone needs to have a chat with the lad.
  10. I believe he was clocked at 31 ft/sec beating out a base hit recently which is otherworldly. This was mentioned on the broadcast.
  11. The Twins missed the playoffs last year by one game. Margot’s lack of performance (along with many others) could have been the difference. So it’s highly unlikely that Doncon will ever do anything in the big leagues that would offset what could have been with the right player in the outfield last year.
  12. Early observation - Wallner looks more comfortable against lefties than does Larnach.
  13. This game is an ad for the ABS system.
  14. That’s an Attebery nugget probably when something meaningful was happening
  15. He had the guy struck out and then Bader played that looper like Jake Cave. He should have been in the dugout.
  16. Yea I was trying to think of Bellamy Bros. At least I didn’t cheat 😀
  17. One of the many parts of modern baseball I would love to see more data on. In the old days you would not play infield in that situation.
  18. Has to be the best move of the Falvey era.
  19. That my in laws can’t speak English?
  20. Pablo is an intelligent man. English is his third language and he speaks English better than my in - laws (or Dan Gladden).
