    For sure. I’m just saying this will be an early data point. I am very interested to see how the whole outfield situation shakes out.

    I have been observing Zolls MO to try and detect any differences between he and Falvey. So far doesn’t seem to be much different. What happens to Outman will be a big clue. Falvey believed in never wasting an asset meaning the guy with no options will usually be kept. If Outman isn’t impressive this spring and is kept we will know it’s business as usual.

    I get and agree with this. I pay too much money to watch the Twins but have always done and always will regardless of record. And there are varying degrees of this. I can enjoy a game, if well played, that the Twins lose. I will admit to a four letter word or two when they play sloppy baseball regardless of the outcome

    The amazing thing is that the few sheckles the Twins were willing to spend solved so little. Signing Caratini gave us good catching depth. First base, we might be a little better but not much.

    I’m not sure it’s that important at all. Playing 500 ball for three months isn’t going to magically energize the fan base and that record would be a good outcome. Probably the most important thing was the direction chosen by ownership to try and compete while bypassing an opportunity to reset the franchise.

    I think this is an important point. EmRod has a hitting profile like Julien which is scary to me. One huge difference is EmRod offers defense and speed which is going to give him some latitude if he struggles with the bat. The option situation is kind of unfortunate as the Twins will have to make a decision on him sooner as opposed to later. Let’s hope the decision is obvious.

    I’m finding these articles on the young pitchers really informative. Thanks. If this kid makes it that trade will be a great one. Lefty starter for bullpen set up guy? Yes (of course he has to do it).

    You have to play to the abilities of your players and the Twins just don’t have much team speed. Even though steals are a very exciting part of the game I hate seeing outs made on the bases and that happened quite a bit at the end of last year. Give it a shot this spring to see which guys can actually do it and go from there.

    Appreciate these breakdowns of the pitching prospects. He will likely get a taste of the show this year.

    During the off season I posted that the Twins contending was like flipping heads 5 times in a row. Well the first coin just came up tails. There was a very real risk in not dealing Pablo and Joe, the risk being injury and cratered trade value. Pablo is done and will provide very little value to the Twins. Ryan has an injury history too - if he goes down with a serious injury the Twins will have turned their best two trade assets into nothing.

    The old saying is “slim and none, and slim just left town”. My non- snarky answer would be prior to the injury they had to have several things break their way to make the playoffs. That list just got longer. Being their best starter pretty much means he is one of if not the most important player.

    I’ve thought about this topic from a slightly different angle. Modern baseball isn’t as fun to watch due to long stretches of inactivity. Here is an idea that might work. 10 man pitching staffs combined with a deader ball. Pitchers would have to pitch more innings but with the deader ball they could go back to more of a pitch to contact approach. Try and get hitters out earlier in counts. More action and moves the game along.

    Hopefully he gets 500-600 ABs this season and we will find out.

    Trevor Larnach has little to no trade value. The idea that he can be traded for any pitcher of value is laughable. The decision to tender him is another example of why Falvey is unemployed.

    To me the irony is T-3 thinks he has to do this to save some form of fan relationship. I honestly think it will not make any difference at all. The general feeling of the fan base isn’t going to change whether they tear it down or win 82 games. Really, the trying to compete in 26 strategy just delays what will really make a difference to the fans: an exciting up and coming ball club.

    Hopefully he is okay. This does illustrate the risk the Twins are taking holding onto Ryan , Lopez etc chasing a 500 season. You could end up holding the bag if they get seriously hurt.

    This. He hasn’t lost speed to speak of. I haven’t noticed any decline other than I think he is playing it a little safer out there.
