  1. I wish they would have faced their pitching problems last winter. Doesn’t matter now.
  2. This. A hundred times this. There is zero evidence that he has any special abilities in this area yet it keeps being repeated. For all we know he had nothing to do with Cleveland pitching development.
  3. One thing to remember tearing it down is no guarantee of future success. Everyone remembers the times it works and forgets about the times that it results in losing for a decade.
  4. It appears that this was a far bigger problem than anybody realized. It’s interesting to have the technology that can monitor it. JD is something. Kind of a loose cannon.
  5. I think the biggest factor is the execution of selling strategy. You can trade them all but you have to get the right pieces back. If I recall we don’t have any of the players we received. For me it boils down to this: do you trust the FO to successfully execute a selling strategy? For me the answer is I don’t know but I’m not real confident.
  6. All FO make mistakes. Sometimes I feel like fans have unrealistic expectations. I do think it is important to remember that Falvine inherited a good young almost complete line up plus a couple good pitchers.
  7. He has good value in that he can catch. That allows Rocco to pinch hit for a catcher. He is not an everyday player but he is really valuable in a bench role.
  8. Beautiful day at Target Field today. Very happy for Gordon and he made several nice plays in the field. It was interesting that Big Mike was pounding the zone and the game was moving along nicely. It ground to a halt when Robles came in. Some genius in their analytics department needs to tell Rocco that when your bullpen sucks running 3-4 relievers out there every game is not a recipe for success.
  9. I was at the game today and he looked great behind the plate. Several good blocks and a very strong arm. I am quite confident he would have blocked the wild pitch that advanced the runner. I believe he is the best defensive catcher we have. His swing is ok but he looks overmatched at the plate. If he can hit even a little we might have a solid player.
  10. This is what happens when you start to believe you can fix everyone. I would switch Shoemaker and Dobnak right now. Give Duran and Balazovic a couple minor league starts and work them in soon. This team was at least two arms short at the start of the year and we are seeing the results. This is on Falvine. I just hope they haven’t screwed us for this year.
  11. I’m really happen for Buck. He works so hard and is so humble I’m glad he is seeing success. In addition to the technical changes he has some experience under his belt. It seems like he is recognizing pitches better and understands how pitchers are trying to get him out. I also think it is really a good sign that he is using the middle of the field more.
  12. Gotta be able to command it. Stuff and velocity are great but you have to be able to hit your spots. He still struggles with this.
  13. All we have to do is hit six dingers a game and we will win.
  14. Of all the things that I worry about my beloved Twins this is not one of them.
  15. I’m sick of RRC. Roccos Rest Camp. He’s costing us games protecting players that shouldn’t need protection
  16. I see no evidence in pitching depth in the rotation or the bullpen. We needed two more proven arms but our FO knew better. Now it’s going to be like a couple years ago when they had to cut half the bullpen in June.
  17. Rocco said we don’t have a set closer so it should be easy enough to let him get some lower leverage innings. You are going to have to stick with the guy for a while. I have always felt that they are one reliever short this year.
  18. Our starters are all veterans with years of endurance built up. They shouldn’t treat them any differently than any other year. You also might want to let a reliever pitch two innings more frequently.
  19. Ok I’m a curmudgeon. Walk up songs are dumb. I’d rather have the classic organ music
  20. The problem is these aren’t early results. This is basically what he has been for a while now. He’s a useful player but fairly easily replaceable at this point. Up until now it was always potential that people were excited about. He’s now CJ Cron with a bit more upside.
  21. I think he gets criticized too much for his fielding. It’s understood that he is not a gold glover. But to be competent at multiple different positions is really valuable especially catcher. While you don’t want hold to fill in long term as an in game sub he is pretty valuable.
  22. He hit like that all of last year. I really like Buck he tries so hard and never complains.
  23. I said it seems counterintuitive. I wasn’t disagreeing. It also why the the fresh concrete theory that people ridiculed is true. Concrete cures for several years by giving off water vapor. When you consider the massive amount of concrete poured in a new stadium it’s no wonder Target field was a launching pad early and now is not.
