  1. This lineup is based on whoever they could get for “best value” not who would construct the best lineup. There will likely be plenty of homeruns but plenty of strikeouts
  2. I’m trying to remember the name of the AAA pitching coach who taught Johan his circle change. Perhaps we need to bring him to spring training
  3. Even with modern usage starters are still more valuable. A smart front office would have signed any number of affordable free agents to fortify the bullpen so Romero could develop as a starter in Rochester. He would hopefully been ready to be in the rotation later this summer or for sure next summer when we have one starter under contract
  4. I totally understand the ranking status vs Gonsalves. Gonsalves has mediocre stuff that could be successful with excellent control. There is the rub: he doesn’t have it and hasn’t throughout his minors career. He has to develop much better control or he is a AAAA pitcher
  5. Liriano signed a minor league deal for around $1.3 million. This is the deal we should have pursued instead of Perez
  6. I hate the signing especially as a starter. With a live arm he might make sense in the pen but he should never be starter
  7. The key to Baldelli s success will be how well this team pitches. As TK used to say when I have the right players I’m a smart manager Of the reasons for possible success going forward Baldelli s contribution would be about 8th
  8. Really? No way and I don’t blame the Twins in either situation
  9. No. With nothing but questions in the pen and no real top pen prospects it would be malpractice if they don’t add arms to the pen
  10. He has marginal MLB stuff. That means he will have to have great control to succeed. He has given no indication that he can develop that. Do not count on him - if he surprises great.
  11. Ok. Thought they would use the money to build a bullpen. Looks like they will sit it out and settle for cheap mediocrity. As a lifelong twins fan I can only say I’ve never been less confident in the organization than I am right now.
  12. I agree with this completely. Get two top end bullpen arms and a third that is decent.
  13. I would much rather have signed a true SS and moved Polanco to 2nd.
  14. Hildy should not be considered a lock in any way. Nor should we count on any of the prospects that haven’t done a thing. They need to add at least two good bullpen arms this winter. As far as Stewart he’s 24 and made it to the majors. I think people discredit him some because he doesn’t strike people out and that is what everyone wants. He has eventually succeeded at every level so let’s just give him a chance
  15. By not having a designated DH you really add one more spot to your bench (assuming the DH can’t play the field). I would rather have another bench option so long as it’s not Grossman
  16. Again everyone is talking about he has to turn Buxton and Sano around. Falvine hires the hitting coach-that is his job. Why are we hanging this on the manager?
  17. I’m giving it until next July before the board is calling him a bum and wanting a new manager. Just a reminder that the hitting and pitching coaches last year were Falvines hand picked selections.
  18. I’m not impressed by Sano anymore either. If you swing for the fences every at bat and don’t care that you strike out 35% of the time I’m sure you will run into one every now and again
  19. He doesn’t have the requisite arm to play short and he knows it. Hence all the rushed throws and plays. His bat is excellent and he would be a great second baseman. Just put him in a spot to succeed
  20. Of course but basic fundamentals are what he was criticized for. I think there are plenty of problems within the organization and it’s a little too convenient to blame it all on Molitor
  21. I thought that was what the minor leagues were for? Mollies job was to win games
  22. I think the criticism of his bullpen management is overblown. With that bullpen you are going to always be on the edge of overuse because there were only a couple of guys that were any good. More accurate blame would be to the front office for not bringing in better pitchers
  23. Weren’t we just saying all the same things about Gardy? On the list of things that went wrong Molly was about 9th. There were many things outside his control including a bunch of free agents that were mutts. This fine in that we are reducing the number of scapegoats so Falvine can be the next ones out
