    The problem with these suggestions is that you can forget about anyone that is making any money. The sidearming right handed in the Rays pen looked tough. Don’t know what his status is though.

    I see Lee played 2nd but hasn’t he mostly been playing SS? I wonder if he would get called up to play second with so little experience there. He’s kind of a thick bodied guy - looks like a third baseman to me.

    I agree about pitching used in trades. The rest of it no. The article is about drafting and developing pitching not trading for it. And if you folks are including Winder Funderburk and Varland then you are really stretching it. They are minor leaguers who have not proven to be major leaguers.

    I have no info whatsoever but I’m saying right now put Max on the IL. He’s famous for making day to day turn into a week. Perfect chance to see if Wallner is ready.

    I love Royce. I think he has a chance to be a legendary Twin. When it comes to comparing homers I want to stick up for my favorite Twin Harmon Killebrew. As a bonus baby he had to spend his first year in the big leagues. I doubt he had many at bats but whatever the number was they were as an 18 year old.

    What? They are deciding who they spend their draft picks on. The pipeline has produced two pitchers in 8 years. You can make all the excuses you want. That is not a good track record.

    This is the biggest urban myth of all. This FO has 8 years at the helm. Their drafting and development of pitchers consists of Ober and Jax. That is hardly an impressive resume. I’m hopeful on some of the minor leaguers but they mean nothing until they are getting outs in the bigs.

    Margot is wandering around in RF. Misplayed the ball off the wall and pulled a Cave on the ball barely foul.

    I like this look back. It’s a big contract but he is really an elite player. At the time I was kind of leery of taking up that much payroll room when Royce was waiting in the wings. After seeing Royce in the field now I don’t think he has the arm to be a good SS so the FO made the right decision on this one IMO.

    Are we sure the Twins will be active at the trade deadline? I’m not. It’s unlikely they will take on significant payroll and I’m not sure they can’t add to the bullpen with Varland and Paddock for the playoffs.

    Interesting topic. I definitely keep him at whatever the arb number is next year. Not so sure about an extension. He’s truly a competent fielder at multiple positions and he’s already better at second than Julien. After writing this I think I would at least entertain an extension at the right price. Think of all the money spent for poor backups.

    The term “5 tool player” gets thrown around a lot. Willie was truly a 5 tool player. He had an incredible amount of stolen bases for a great power hitter.

    My concern is that these guys need to understand they don’t get to make those decisions. AK or Ryan can’t hurt their team for a month because they think they know best. The players obligation is to play as hard as possible but to be upfront about their physical condition. Then the manager, trainer and FO can make the best decision for all involved. That decision might be to ask the player to play through the problem or it might be to IL him and get an uncompromised player to take his place.

    There should be. He is putting his judgment in place of being up front with the club. Perhaps he could have gotten healthy earlier or they could have brought up a player that wasn’t compromised. Or it’s just an excuse cuz he sucked.

    Why wasn’t this reported by the local media? I noticed he wasn’t playing but knew they had some set amount of time to report. This is not a good look for AK. There are all kinds of possible explanations and none are going to be flattering to him.

    Travis Lee - first base slugger. This is from memory but I believe there was a deadline for an offer to be tendered and the Twins missed it. He became a free agent and signed elsewhere but don’t think was ever an elite player.

    I view Prielipp as a calculated gamble. The only reason he was available later was his injury history. They gambled and probably lost but that is much different than blowing the evaluation. I can kind of understand the Cavaco pick in theory - toolsy high school SS but it appears the Twins overrated him based on other team’s interest. The Sabato pick was the one I really disliked. A first round pick for a guy who’s upside was CJ Cron. No need to spend a high pick on a player profile that is available every year for cheap. I would have selected the best college pitcher available. When it comes to second round picks and later I just think it’s a roulette wheel both good and bad. If the Twins thought Julien would ever make the bigs they wouldn’t have waited until the 17th round to take him.

    2019 first round pick (13th) overall Keoni Cavaco was released. He was hitting .144 in Cedar Rapids. This one will go down as a really bad draft choice as Cavaco never really did a thing in the minors.

    Sheets might be interesting. The Twins need to come up with 2 corner outfielders and he would fit in the budget.

    I really enjoy watching CC play. I also appreciate that he played thru injury last year while others hit the IL. My only concern with his contract is how it fits in the payroll budget going forward if right sizing is the new norm.

    Unfortunately he does that with some regularity.

    I appreciate these articles. It really gives a good picture of what’s possible and at what cost. For me it’s a realization that most of the players available for a reasonable ask and on a reasonable contract would not help the Twins enough to justify giving up the prospects.
