  1. How did you forsee this! Are you from the future?
  2. Picked off in the bottom of the eight of a one run playoff game. Wow! That's like a Charlie Brown play.
  3. Still too many AAAA types in camp and none of them has really stood out. Part of it is there just isn't enough at bats or innings to go around. Maybe they should cut a few of those guys loose and let the rest show us what they've got in these last couple weeks.
  4. Yeah, surprised Gordon and Thorpe went this early, seeing as they will probably be called up at some point this year. Maybe the brass felt they could get more playing time on the other side of the fence. Otherwise no big surprises.
  5. I think the entire proposal is stupid. Why even have a regular season? If they are concerned about ratings then keep working on getting the length of the games down. Who the heck has time to spend 4 and a half hours on a weeknight watching a playoff game?
  6. I worry that Odorizzi could be the next Phil Hughes. Hughes found success when he started throwing that high cut fastball past hitters, similar to Odorizzi. When Hughes lost a couple mph on that fastball the party was over. I hope I'm wrong, but the bottom line is I would be wary about getting stuck in a big long term deal with Odorizzi.
  7. Am still trying to wrap my head around this one. Was not a fan of Brusdar for Maeda straight up. Maeda is about to turn 32, and I don't see that he is a big improvement over other options. The $10 million for the comp B pick is odd. Seems like an overpay by the Dodgers. Why would they do it when they know they could have done Brusda-Maeda straight up?
  8. I generally agree with the above posts this trade is more about the Dodgers and Red Sox than the Twins. With the Dodgers taking Price, Maeda is the odd man out (in a way he was odd man out even before this trade). The Sox don't want Maeda because with his incentives his salary could hit $10 million per year, which would defeat the purpose of what they're trying to achieve with this trade. They either need to include the Twins or find another taker for Maeda.
  9. For dining, I always make sure to visit Michelbob's in Naples. Best ribs anywhere. It's family friendly, but can get crowded at peak times.
  10. If they wanted a starter why didn't they take Maeda? I agree the Twins shouldn't have to add anything more. Am not a fan of the trade to begin with. Would rather keep Brusdar and watch him shut the door on the 2020 World Series.
  11. I agree with the above post. It should not be on the Twins to add more to this deal. (I don't care for it to begin with.) If Boston is that concerned let them have Maeda and we'll keep Brusdar.
  12. Not a fan of this move. Maeda had the same WAR in 2019 as Homer Bailey. Those kinds of guys can be had every year relatively inexpensively through free agency. If you're going to trade one of your better pitching prospects, make it count.
  13. If Berrios stays healthy and puts up ok numbers he would absolutely make more money going year to year. But of course things happen, especially to pitchers. As someone mentioned above, it only makes sense for the Twins to do a longer deal if they get at least some kind of discount. So the ball is really in his court and he has to make a decision about how much risk he is willing to accept.
  14. If you're going to do a documentary on the '88 Twins don't forget to go behind the scenes on the moment where the characters played by Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger discovered where they were created. In all seriousness, if Cleveland does nothing, they are still a very formidable team. Can't beat that rotation.
  15. The first time I watched Castro catch a game for the Twins was a complete revelation. Nothing against Kurt Suzuki. He was/is decent with the bat, but behind the plate he is not comparable to Castro. Castro was a great signing.
  16. Call me a cynic, but this story sounds like a plant by someone. As others mentioned, there have been rumors for a couple weeks that the Twins and Nats are at four years. This is either A. A plant by Donaldson's agent to get the Braves to up their offer, or B. A plant by the Twins to prepare the fanbase for the fact that he ain't coming here. They can say "Hey, we tried."
  17. Good article. Of all the options, I definitely think "starter" is the least likely to happen this year. His injury history and experience are working against him. An opener strategy is definitely something to consider, although in the case of Grateral, I think his situation may be determined by the final numbers game that goes with setting the final roster and who is out of options. With Romo and Clippard the bullpen is getting crowded.
  18. Maybe they saw him as a reliever and lost interest when they resigned Romo. Although Yamaguchi is a righty, so who knows. There has to be some other reason besides the money that they felt he wasn't worth taking a flyer on.
  19. This article is complete garbage! It has nothing to do with Mauer. Everyone knows the front office has been quiet because they are keeping a roster spot open for Nick Punto!
  20. Sounds like a good fit. Buys some extra time to develop Jeffers and Rortvedt.
  21. In the end I suppose money talks, but I don't see Bumgarner leaving the National League. One gets the impression he wants to hit. A couple years ago he lobbied to get in the home run derby.
  22. And it doesn't appear the Angels gave up much.
