  1. Or they could pay someone to take David Price.
  2. And the Ian Hamilton news just got knocked off the front page.....It's an outrage!
  3. They may not have to do anything for at least a few days...at least until Colome and Cruz are officially added. The way the hot stove has been heating up these past few days who knows what could happen during that time.
  4. I assume it'll be a pitcher that gets DFAd. Including Colome, they already have 22 pitchers on the 40 man. Gibaut? Maybe they can sneak him through waivers.
  5. I saw that. The way he pitched that first half of '91 was still the most dominant stretch I have ever seen. It's too bad these guys can't figure out to do with themselves when they can't play anymore.
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/02/twins-giants-swap-lamonte-wade-jr-shaun-anderson.html Dan Hayes is reporting that LaMonte Wade has been traded to the Giants for Shaun Anderson.
  7. Blankenhorn can probably do the job as well as anyone else on the Twins radar, but I wonder if he would be better served by playing every day at AAA. Barring injuries, the Twins will make every effort to get Arraez in the lineup, leaving few opportunities for the second utility guy.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/braves-sign-ehire-adrianza-to-minors-contract.html Looks like it's the Braves on a minor league deal.
  9. Good article. The dude has flat out hit at every level he has played at. And it's not like Ben Revere, who always had a good average but low OBP. Arraez gets on base, period. He has started about a third of his games for the Twins at positions other than 2B. Maybe they move him around the field. If he can spell Donaldson and also play 2B and OF that should be able to keep his bat in the lineup full time.
  10. Good article, but the projected dollar amounts are less than what Trevor May got. I don't see that happening. As much as I would like to see either one of these guys in a Twins uniform, the front office has shown they don't like to commit big dollars to the bullpen.
  11. IF...this is true, then I start to wonder if maybe the front office has some hard payroll limitations this year. If you need a super utility guy for cheap, then Marwin is as good as anyone. I was hoping that maybe they would set their sights a little higher. Whoever the utility guy is, he will get significant playing time.
  12. It wouldn't shock me if the Twins are done adding starting pitching. That's probably not what people want to hear, but it's also not the worst thing considering other pressing needs (bullpen, infield). Who are we losing....Homer Bailey, Rich Hill, Odorizzi. None of those guys were significant contributors to last year's team. They are adding a full year of Pineda and whatever they can get out of Happ. Maybe they add another reclamation project (Rick Hill Part 2?), but otherwise I think they're done.
  13. The bullpen needs to be the number one priority.
  14. Was this a Terry Ryan move? I thought it was Bill Smith. I saw Capps implode against the Brewers at Target Field. Completely ruined my summer. Some trades are only bad in retrospect, but this one was a head scratcher from day one. They traded a blue chip prospect for Matt Capps. And it wasn't that was necessarily bad, he was just very average.
  15. I feel your pain, although I'm not delirious enough to believe Bauer is coming to the Twins. It looks like the Padres gave up Hudson Head, who is their #7 prospect and some lesser pieces. I looked him up online and he projects as a five tool center fielder, but he is only rookie ball and seems to be a work in progress. It seems to me the Twins could have made a much better offer without breaking the bank.
  16. Good article. I agree 100 percent that Yates and Rosenthal would be good fits for the Twins. Unfortunately, they would fit on a lot of teams, and I don't see them signing for the projected amounts shown here, especially when Trevor May got what he did. This front office has shown they don't want to devote significant dollars to relief pitching. Once the music stops, I'm afraid the Twins will be left without a chair for the area they need the most help.
  17. Has anyone signed Orosco yet for 2021?
  18. Too early in the morning to hit me with that....
  19. Since you brought it up.....he last played for the Twins in 2013. He didn't really turn the corner in his career until 2019. Maybe there was something with his delivery or pitch selection that the Twins could have spotted, but several other teams were also unable to help him. Beyond that, I don't know what else the Twins could have done. Good for him. A lot of players hang up their cleats once things haven't been working out for a few years. He stuck with it and made himself a top-tier reliever. (I do think the White Sox waaaayyy over paid.)
  20. I felt at the time that if the package wasn't right, the Twins should have held onto him and then taken the extra draft pick when he walked at the end of the year. It would have been one thing if the Twins were rebuilding at that time, but they weren't. They ended up losing the division by one game in 2008 and missed the playoffs. Santana would have made all the difference. Smith was dealt a bad hand, but I can't think of one trade that didn't blow up in his face.
  21. I generally concur with the article. Cruz is a special talent, but given his age I don't think the Twins should go beyond one year. To me, the issue is whether Sano can eventually play a respectable first base. If he can't, they will need to keep the DH spot open so he can get his at bats.
  22. I like this article, although I really think the Twins will have to spend at least some money on the bullpen, even at the expense of a DH. They are losing May, Romo, and Clippard. None of those guys were lights out, but they made a lot of appearances in the shortened season. Add the fact that we don't know what we'll be getting with Rogers next year.
  23. If it comes down to May vs Rogers, I think you go with Rogers. 1. I think he has more upside potential, 2. He's left handed, and most importantly 3. He offers more financial flexibility. If I'm May I'd want a multi-year deal. The Twins don't have to make that kind of commitment to Rogers.
