  1. For a rookie reliever? You can't be serious. Blake Snell would cost less.
  2. If he has found a way to pitch this effectively there is no reason he shouldn't be brought up. We need a #5 starter, period. We don't have one now and won't make the playoffs without one. I would like to see us go after Kikuchi simply because he is a lefty and could slot into the bullpen for the playoffs, but barring that, Dobnak is the best in house option right now.
  3. Kikuchi would be an intriguing add if indeed his cost isn't steep. A solid #5 SP, an innings eater and a Lefty out of the pen cone playoff time would fill a lot of our needs!
  4. We already have 4 post season worthy starters! The problem we won't see the post season without a decent 5th starter. Snell as a rental, with post season experience and last years Cy Young winner makes a lot of sense. Would probably only be $5M worth of salary. Depends on the player Capitol cost. SWR has arguably been our best pitcher this year. Pitched another absolute gem tonight! We can't afford to trot out a minor league pitcher every 5th game. Any pitcher we sign is going to cost at least $5M. Without SWR we would be sellers at the deadline. They have zero options and no choice but to acquire someone.
  5. Sounds intriguing for sure! I also really like the Air Force 3B we drafted late as well. Very consistent and improving #'s in an under rated conference.
  6. The only pick I like is the LH pitcher, IF they can sign him. Passing on other top pitchers and a catcher (which we have none of) not to mention OF is a big mistake!
  7. Kikuchi, being a Lefty could be useful. Also in the BP during playoffs. An affordable rental.
  8. Theilbar just didn't comeback from his early season injury this year. He has lost 3 mph on his fastball and his curve just isn't biting. He may be done. Funderburk is going to have to step up and take this spot. Trading for a mid leverage rental, while helpful, doesn't get us to the WS. A healthy Brock Stewart & Duran from last year might, but neither of those are available either. Putting SWR, Varland etc in the bullpen is fine for the playoffs, but none are Leftys. We don't have any LH starters either. So this is a problem that needs attention. I'd take McFarland the weak contact inducing guy mentioned above first. Then pray Stewart comes back strong & Duran regains his effectiveness.
  9. You can see how the 3/4 arm angle delays the upper body rotation and puts more lag (whip) into his arm, just like lag in a golf swing. I still don't know quite how to interpret those pitch location charts, especially the vertical movement. Looks like the Fastball is at the top of the chart. Does that mean it doesn't move down? What does it mean when the chart shows the fastball at a +15 location vertically??
  10. Hellman deserves a shot, but likely will never get it with the Twins. Just trade him to Oakland already so he can become an All Star like Rooker. Lol.
  11. Hellman has labored in the minors for a long time. He deserves a call up, even if it's just a cup of coffee as the extra man for a double header. Severino, Rodriguez, Keirsay, Wallner also are close. Kemp should even be considered as he couldn't do any worse than Farmer right now. Willie Castro is getting burnt out and while I have been a big supporter of Martin, it's time to give a power hitter a shot at LF. Martin can come back up if Buxton goes down with injury.
  12. None of those do anything to improve the Twins. We need an Ace reliever or a top RH LF bat. As far as 1B, we are going to have to settle for a Miranda/ Santana platoon now that Kiriloff has floundered.
  13. Sad but needed. We really needed a breakout season from him along with Julien, Wallner & Martin. So far, none has happened. Is it time to give Helman, Keirsay or Emma a chance? Can't hurt. We need someone to spark this lineup consistently. Also need Stewart & Topa back at full strength if we are going anywhere. This team will continue to tread water until LF, 1B & bullpen get fixed.
  14. Poor guy has hung with it on the minors for 7 years. Give him a shot! There is no one lighting our current outfield on fire.
  15. In April & May of 2022, Buxton was hitting everything to all fields! Since then - nada, zip. Either he figures that out, or he's a platoon player and defensive replacement. Ho hum for a would be star.
  16. They need a right hand bat for LF to spark the offense (outside Rodriguez, I see little hope there) Julien or Lee to step up and Pablo + someone to step it up, Stewart back healthy & Buxton to hit for power. That's a lot of ifs. We can dream. But it's a long way from reality to dreams.
  17. It's time to see if a AA prospect can make the jump. We've tried all the AAA guys and none have been able to stick. The Twims need a spark from somewhere. Preferably and OF or Pitcher. Might as well try someone.
  18. Well the Twins certainly need help on multiple fronts. Would like to see Rodriguez at AAA soon! But I'll take Lee or Julien if they become legit. Pitching?? How does Paddack give up so many runs on so few (comparatively) without any HR's? Is Festa ready??
  19. Yeah Theiĺbars velocity is down and his sinker/ curve gets pummeled when left over the plate. As Stanton proved last night. He needs a change up with sideways movement. Without that and better velocity, he is done. Okert has been OK, but nothing special yet.
  20. Left field has been a gaping hole since Rosario was let go. I had hoped Martin would be a spark plug & good CF backup. But while his hitting may come around, his fielding has been disappointing. He doesn't have the experience nor the arm for CF. At this point, Keirsey or Rodriguez need to be given a shot. Willie Castro is a great utility player, but NOT an everyday LF. If only we'd taken that $15M we spent on DiSclafini, Santana & Margot and signed Gurriel.
  21. Much as I'd love to see the Twins get a top reliever, I would have to say NO to this. Maybe a proven veteran without an injury history ( are there any these days). Alcala has finally taken the biggest steps in his career the last two weeks. So maybe there is finally a Silver lining to one of our many failed pitching trades. But trading top notch Capitol for a 26 inning flash in the pan is asking for trouble, even if the fiscal pricetag is cheap.
  22. It's definitely time to give Festa a shot and Paddack a week or two off. Didn't we already clear a spot on the 40 man with DFA of Jackson? Or is that spot going to someone coming off the IL?
  23. IDK if E Rod is/will be a Star, but given the lack of talent we have had in the OF pipeline, one can only hope! Plenty have made the AA to Major league jump and it might be fun to bring him up for a game (extra man for a double hitter) just to see what he can do. We could use a miracle like he goes 4 for 4 and never looks back! We can dream😊
