  1. First of all, Baseball has to adopt total rw wnue sharing and salary caps like the NFL or the league won't survive. You cannot have Billion dollar payrolls competing with 100M payrolls. It's absurd! 2nd, backdated contracts like Ohtani's need to be declared null & void - no dice on such crap. Everyone forgets that the Didgers declared bankruptcy not that long ago. You can't let teams just wash absurd contracts through bankruptcies. Revenue, contracts, costs need to be tightly matched to all teams. No player needs 100M /yr. Like a fantasy draft, you get 200M. Build your team. Some hometown player contracts that gomover budget (like the NBA) can be worked in for some flexibility, but there has to be a set structure of some kind. This free for all with big market teams backdating contracts must end. AND the Pohlads need to go first. Washing their property losses through the team is also ridiculous and has doomed this franchise to be contracted as no fans will show up next year for a AA team.
  2. I think the writing is on the wall. They will trade some or most of their top 3 SP. For what, I don't know. A stud RH bat OF would be nice, but highly unlikely Teams just don't trade such players, especially young controllable ones. Unless they plan on spending 4x what they spent this year on the bullpen (a good, yet cheap bullpen) they will have nothing in the pen next two years. This team has no road map forward for at least 3 years.
  3. Sadly it's sell time. First the Team. New owners get rid of Falvey & Baldelli. So much for our "prospects" Lee, Martin, Miranda, Julien, none of whom will ever be star players. Trade them all for a couple of youngsters with potential. The one expiring contract we need to keep is Coulumbe. We have Zero LH pitchers in the organization and he won't be that expensive next year. Other than that, I got nothing. This season of "it's all going to come together" never got off the ground. Matthews & Keaschall are the lone bright spots (& Buxton) in a season of poor coaching, poor play & injuries. The same reasons, in inverse order, as the last few seasons. It ALL needs to change.
  4. While we need a catcher and a 5 tool RH OF, none of these Dodger prospects scream that. There has got to be Jenkins or better OF & an Ace LH starter or forget it. There just was an article about Fonzalaz, who can hit for sure, but is poo poed for lack of power & fielding. We don't need more of that. 5 tool guy & Ace starter, or forget it!
  5. Keaschall was the spark we needed at 2nd base. His injury was devastating to this lineup. IF he can do what he did when he came up, he should bat leadoff with his speed. C4 &Lewis really need to pock.it up and bat 2, 3 , with Buxton 4th. Would be a great 1-4 if they ever all play to their capabilities. Walner, Larnach, Castro Jeffers, Lee & Bader 9th to give us speed at the top & bottom would be ideal. That said, that lineup hasn't materialized and sadly probably won't. The hope this season of course was that if it did, this team could go far. Clemmons has been a nice surprise for a DFA pickup & should continue to see more reps at 1st base for now. Needs to be more selective at the plate. But as the Twins don't seem to have a long term answer at 1B and refuse to draft anybody, IDK what they expect long term at that position. They continue to draft 12 SS every year, none if who can play 1B or become a power hitting LF. To all those (and there are many) who say "draft the best athelete", I say BS! Draft Aaron Judge or Juan Soto, neither of who played SS.
  6. Ryan IS the top.prospect you want in a trade. Trading him away for "prospects" doesn't work unless you trade away the rest of your highly paid players & go total rebuild. Because when they are gone in a few years and the "prospects" for Ryan don't pan out, you've got nothing. Trade everybody and 2 or 3 most likely work out, maybe you have something and some money for free agents.
  7. Klein sounds promising. We certainly need RH power bats. Disappointed in E. Rod's lack of progress/injuries. We need all of Jenkin's potential and then some as well. We need some Aces to materialize, not filler, for this franchise to ever take the next step.
  8. Everybody is so high on Wallner, why? He couldn't hit at all to start last season, managed to figure something out & did ok, but now is hitting 200 again without many HR. Everybody calls Castro a "utility" player. How many guys are there who, no matter what position you put him at, is one of the better players in the league at that position? He's not just a guy whoncan give your starter a break now and again, he's as good as or better than Wallner, Larnach, Lee and Lewis right now, for that matter. But yes, he is tradeable because of his expiring contract. Can we get a potential SP or catcher for any of them? Idk, another Joe Ryan miracle trade perhaps? Seems unlikely. Houston has lost SP & a slugger, and yet haven't collapsed. We should be looking elsewhere besides "the players" for a solution.
  9. I'd much prefer Keaschall, but seeing as half of this lineup is perpetually injured, Gasper may be our last gasp! If he can pitch, dfa Bride. Desperate times.........
  10. How does a catcher who hit 320 for a major college not get drafted? Wouldn't that be something if he pans out.
  11. Hallelujah! We lose another starter and we're done. Will they actually trade for one? Doubtful....
  12. Need to start drafting actual pitchers in the first round. There are no wiz kids in the system to save this team.
  13. Eales for a cup of coffee and lose Bride? Sure. Can Eales pitch is the only question? What we need is Keaschall!! Been waiting for a lineup of Keaschal, Correa, Lewis, Buxton, Wallner ALL healthy and productive all year. With the state our pitching is in now, we are going to need an All Star lineup to win any games. Dfa Alcala and trade to get Ryan Pressley back. Lol. Looking like one of our worst trades ever.
  14. Analytics can be helpful to diagnose hard to see problems, but I do feel there is too much coaching towards analytics. That said, watching Lewis swing recently, he seems to have his back to straight and rigid, like a golf swing setup. He is not able to get his hips and torso turning through with explosive impact. As the hios turn, his upper half falls behind and throws him off balance. I think a bit more crouch is needed. Also, his hands are too high, .making a big looping swing that thows the timing of everything off. I think he & the coaches need to look at video from when he was going well and compare to now.
  15. Come on people, you're getting this all wrong. Perhaps former Vikings star RB, Robert Smith's experience es can shed so.e light on this. After he tore his knee up a 2nd time, he realized that " fighting for that extra couple of yards on every play, isn't worth the risk". If it's 4th and 1 late in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl, sure you do whatever it takes. If it's 2nd and 8 in the first quarter, just go down and live for the next play. Seeing how Lewis has injured his legs two years in a row while trying to make sudden speed changes, it makes sense to save that for the biggest moments. Trying to dive back to the base with little chance of being safe makes no sense. It's being smart. He still needs to show hustle, just don't try to go from zero to 60 on every play
  16. While SWR saved the rotation last year, Paddack has looked like the pitcher we dreamed of his last 3-4 outings! His mix if pitches and control has been exceptional! Let's hope SWR can dial.some of that in as well! If the team can stay above water until July and get Lewis, Wallner & Keashall healthy & productive - they could make a deep run yet this year.
  17. McCusker or Rodriguez can't be any worse than Keirsay. Bring one up soon. Dfa Bride or Clemmons.
  18. Amick is a "flub-prone third baseman with mixed arm and accuracy [whose] range and hands [are] both below average." And this led us to draft him in the 2nd round?? Shouldn't a college age player be a proven HR masher to be taken that high? Who was that late round 1B/3B pick last year that played for a small west coast school? How is he doing? Jay Thomason - from Air Force Acadamy. Doing well in the FSL league. 82 AB, 6 Hr, 6 doubles ops 1000 + stolen bases. Why is he still there? Right now he looks like a guy who should be in AA ball soon. 17th round pick. You telling me Amick is better??? One has to wonder.

  20. Paddack's last two games have arguably been his best as a Twin. While I can see using a certain pitcher against a hitter with tendencies (Jax against Johnkey) it comes down to two things that analytics just can't account for: go with the hot hand" & save your best for last. Paddack should have stayed in that game and Duran the 9th. If you give up a run in the 6th, you still have 3 more innings. If you give up a run in the 9th, the game is over. What's sad is this that anemic offense is led by the two last minute, plug the holes guys they picked up. (Bader & France) Nice as that is, the so called core is rotten and sadly always hurt. The pitching so far has been solid, the offense is a joke.
  21. The kids a gamer! This is the kind of prospect we have been looking for. Has all the tools and no glaring weaknesses. Fun to watch! Was really surprised Rocco didn't pull him yesterday and let him hit against a right hander.
  22. Zebby, Dobnak, Festa, whoever as the long reliever to piggyback SWR or whoever makes the most sense.
