  1. I'm at the game and was arguing with someone about my seat when Wallner hit that salami, totally missed it
  2. As long as they're human they can be tricked into making bad calls, only way to eliminate framing is robo umps.
  3. Got some real downers in the comment section already. We're just guessing what's going to happen, it's fine to be wrong.
  4. Dear god, MLS jersey sponsor logos are way too large. Target is probably one of the least objectionable since the logo is so minimalist, but it's still far too much.
  5. I kind of like that the Reds have some former Twins prospects doing well. Gives me a reason to care about them.
  6. Random thought here. There's been a lot of buzz about the historically good rookie trio of Julien, Wallner, and Lewis, but I haven't seen anyone observe that this happened despite the Twins' farm system being fairly low-ranked coming into the season, and for the last couple of seasons for that matter.

I would say our system has been more middle of the pack than low ranked.  I'd also caution that we had a top notch rookie last year who is struggling in AAA this year. Odds are that one of the three regresses next year, one stays at baseline and one becomes a star.  I think we all think Lewis becomes the star but both of the others have enough holes in their overall game to cause reservation.

  7. Twins didn't NEED a pitcher this year either when they had Gray, Mahle, Ryan, Maeda and Ober ready to go, Varland, SWR, Winder, Balazovic, and Dobnak all in the mix for depth, and Paddack's return looking like a potential midseason boost. I'd say it'd be pretty hard to argue that they didn't end up needing Lopez to end up where they are now.
  8. This team mostly just needs a weirdo IMO. Not much there for the crowd that just wants to see Willians Astudillo's helmet fall off.
  9. AAA playoffs being the 1st and 2nd half league leaders is a really weird system since there's so much turnover at AAA. Feel like the St Paul Saints roster has almost completely turned over this year.
  10. Where are you getting this? I'm just going off what the Mayo Clinic says about patellar tendinitis, and it looks like it's just a matter of rest. I'm happy to defer to you if you have other, better information about patellar tendinitis.
  11. Sounds bad for this year, but nothing (on this Mayo Clinic page) makes it sound like it's a chronic, career-ending condition. If this diagnosis is correct, I'd say that's very positive.
  12. TC Bear is a very athletic position requiring peak health and conditioning.
  13. or maybe he stays in AAA as sort of frustrating depth anyway
  14. I'm high on Miranda and personally really want to see him come back strong, but there is a bit of a logjam looming and we all know this front office's strategy for acquiring starting pitching. If the front office believes he will bounce back, a sell-high candidate will be traded, not him. If the front office believes he will not bounce back, I predict he gets traded for something frustrating like a relief prospect coming off Tommy John surgery who can hit high-nineties velocity but has insurmountable command issues.
  15. OK my new decision is to take the deal under the condition that I can have my memory of the deal erased.
  16. If I knew it was coming I would probably try to get into the Brewers or MLS or something. Maybe duck back in in year seven or eight to see what intriguing rookies/prospects were coming up.
  17. Sure. One world series for 29 non-championship seasons would be an even distribution, so getting it for ten trash seasons is a bargain. If I was making this deal with the devil (or preferably a more trustworthy entity) I'd request that the world series win be distributed somewhere in those ten seasons at random to surprise me so I have some reason to watch for more than one year, but even if I couldn't get those terms I'd take it.
  18. I recall posting in the Twins Daily comment section, just before opening day, that a reasonable case could be made for any of the five starters on the opening-day roster as the Twins' best starter. Now, aside from Ober taking Mahle's slot in the rotation, I feel like this has mostly played out that way. About 3/4 of the way through the season, Lopez, Gray, Ryan, Maeda and Ober have all had stretches where they were the most dominant pitcher on the team, and all have shown some significant weak point that makes it hard to declare them the clear-cut ace of the Twins. I'm not saying that all cases are equally valid, but you can make a reasonable case for any of them. Which do you think is best?
  19. Bad for baseball.
  20. I was at the Saints today, Martin looked really good, and Lee was great at shortstop. The highlight for me was that inning where Headrick did nothing but induce ground balls to Lee.
  21. I'm not pleased with this trade deadline, but I think it's something that we're going to see more of with expanded playoffs. With more buyers and fewer sellers, I think standing pat is going to be an increasingly popular option for mediocre teams.
  22. OK, I mostly agree with you and I don't want to let them off the hook, but this omits two underperformers who were so bad that they're barely a part of the equation anymore (Miranda and Gordon)
