Blue Jays 10, Twins 8: Early Lead Falls Apart
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It was a bullpen loss plain and simple. Although the umpiring at home by Cuzzi was questionable, it was questionable for the Jay's as well. To blame the loss on blown ball and strike calls is ridiculous. It was the Twins that blew it. And I am no fan of major league umpires behind the plate. They do miss too many calls in very important situations. But it was the Twins that blew a 7-1 lead. I am expecting a Twins win on Sunday at the Twins will take the series. Go Twins.- 55 replies

No. That stiff Wendelstadt that threw out Boone needs to go. Him and Gardy went at it for years. He is not a bad ump, just not a good one. CB Bucknor and Angel Hernandez should be shipped out permanently. I know umpiring is tough. I don't mind the truly borderline pitches going one way or another. But the obvious ones blown bother me. Umpires egos are way out of line. The umpires I respect are the ones that maybe will apologize to the pitcher or hitter later saying he missed the call or at least explaining to them what he saw on the pitch. I have no sympathy though for players getting called out on a pitch that could have gone either way. Home plate umpiring does need to improve.

Should We Be Worried About Alex Kirilloff?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As mentioned in the article Kirilloff and others have been slumping as of late. Could it be that 12 game winning streak covered up a lot of Twins hitting issues? Now that we are facing major league pitching again averages are going down. Surprise? No. I'm not worried about Kurilloff, Miranda, or Larnach. I'm more concerned about how the Twins mis managing their careers. I think all 3 will be fine if the manager let's them play and not treat them as part time players. You don't help a players confidence by pinch hitting for guys that hit homeruns in the same game. Especially with a stiff like Margot. IMO, this is a manager issue. He seems to jerk them around a lot. -
The Manuel Margot Acquisition Has Been a Disaster
Whitey333 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Margot continually is brought in to pinch hit for kiriloff only to strike out or feeblessly make an out. I think Margot is a AAA player. Plus Rocco and the Twins are ruining any chance of Kiriloff developing into a good major league player by the way they don't use him. Too many potential players career here ruined or shortened by a stubborn, egotistical, poor excuse for a major league manager. This is why ive said the 6 year control teams have on prospects should be reduced to 4. Margot is bad. It may not matter I guess. The Twins have just enough talent to compete. There's rumors that next year's payroll will be cut again. I'm sure it will. -
Nice win Twins. I'm discouraged though that Thursdays matinee game may become one of Roccos throw away games due to the overuse of the bullpen. Too many high leverage arms that may be unavailable. Lopez needs to go deep in the game. Go Twins!

I agree with a previous poster. It's really disingenuous to pic and choose starting pitching pipeline successes. Ober is probably the best example of a true pipeline suc ess. The rest were obtained via trades. That hardly qualifies for a pipeline. Using that " logic" we can therefore also conclude the Mahle trade subtracted from that pipeline. After all we gave up two high prospects for him that are now regulars on the Reds. Anyway this pipeline is still nonexistent in my opinion.

Great article! I have been a Twins fan for decades. But the past 3-5 years have been very tough. I haven't had access to Twins for 5 years. I blame most of this on the Twins. I can't even go to my local restaurant to watch them as they had Comcast. I don't trust the Twins anymore. They treat their fans like dirt. So many miscues. So many people I talk to say they don't care about the Twins anymore. I still care. That's why it is so hard to see it deteriorate due to all the self inflicted wounds. The Twins handle this so poorly. Well written article. One of the best ever on TD!

Mariners 10, Twins 6: Bullpen Blows Up
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nothing unusual about Roccos mismanaged game. He does it a lot. Many times his questionable moves are head scratchers. I absolutely hate his early pinch hitting moves taking out proven hitters. Many times these hitters have had good games, sometimes homering in the game only to be taken out and pinch hit for by some stiff who just keeps getting out. What a waste. And even the bat boy must know not to pitch Alcala two innings in a row. Just another typical day where Rocco is bad field manager. Nothing unusual there.- 73 replies

Blaming Angel Hernandez for the loss is just whining, pure and simple. I will agree he may be the worst umpire ever. He certainly is the past several seasons. But to blame the loss on that stiff is a huge stretch. Although frustrating good major league pitchers are able to get over it. I'm sure the strike calls he gets on pitches that were balls don't affect him nor should they. One question I have is regarding Margot. It's a good day to pick on him. What is his batting average when specifically batting for Kiriloff? It must be awful. I understand the lefty/ lefty thing but how is Kuriloff going to get any better hitting against lefties if he isn't given the opportunity? I realize AK is slumping now but so are many other Twins. Margot isn't the answer in my opinion. Let AK bat against lefties. He can't do much worse than the pinch hitter they send up there for him.

Awesome win Twins! If Paddock comes through like that even just once in a while that would be a huge boost for Twins. So why when the Twins are losing the refrain is always its early. But when we have a nice winning streak going you never hear that it's too early? Weird when the winning streak comes right after a 7-13 start. It's fun but it's still early. Great job Twins. Let's make it 22 on saturday.

I find it very offensive that the Twins say they had no hand in this TV mess saying its a problem between Bally and Comcast. What a joke. They had a chance to do right and go elsewhere for their TV rights and get more access to Twins games not less. They chose to take Bally (Diamond ) instead and screw the fans. How did they do that? Well they claimed poverty all winter and cut payroll by $30 million. Then later agreed to accept an 85% offer which still netted them roughly $48 million by numerous reports. Did they reinvest that back into the club after that? Of course not. Many of us have been unable to watch the Twins for going on 5 years due to not having access to it anymore. They told us then that it would be fixed. It wasn't. And now it's worse. Twins keep showing more and more that they are not fan friendly. Shame on you Twins! Don't try to blame others. If nothing else it sure shows how weak their public relations department is.

Open conversation about the state of the forums
Whitey333 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I love this system just as it is. I read TD everyday and comment at times. I know my comments can be negative at times. And my opinions regarding the Twins may be wrong but they may be right you never know. The negative contributors are very valuable. Otherwise all TD would be is a PR forum for the Twins. That would be far worse IMO. I love TD just the way it is. Listening to all the comments is very entertaining and informative. Keep up the great work! -
Ranking the Twins Veterans Most Likely to Be Let Go
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Very nice article. I agree with your assessments. Although I lovevtge 10 game winning streak ( who wouldnt) I'm afraid it covered up some of the many flaws on this team. It's one thing to beat up on the weak sisters of the poor, i.e. white sox and angels. I'm hoping we hold our own against the Red Sox, Mariners, Blue Jay's, Yankees, and guardians we have in our next 5 series. Go Twins.- 75 replies

Great 10 game winning streak. Awesome. Now let's see what happens when we play some major league teams coming up. The Twins will have Red Sox, Mariners, Blue Jay's, Yankees, and Guardians coming up. I hope they perform well. As for Buxton, it's the same old, same old. Just trying to pick a date when he goes down. No the sky isn't falling. Only Buxton as usual. Yet some people here think our season is doomed because Byron may be hurt again. We'll they have always found someone to replace him and have done well. This time it probably be Martin who played admirably before being sent down. To bad for Byron but the Twins will be fine without him.

Great job Twins! Doing what you should do. And that is beating up on the dregs of baseball. Now tge dreadful White Sox for 3. I know, they just swept the Ray's. Who saw that coming?? Anyway let's keep in mind that the Twins winning streak and sudden offensive explosion did come at the hands of those dregs. Not to minimize it. But it's true. The Twins didn't fare all that well earlier this year against teams above .500. In May we get teams like the Red Sox. Rays, Blue Jay's, Yankees. guardians, etc. Let's see how we fare then. Good I hope!. With Correa and some others soon coming back from injuries, I would expect us to be ultra competitive against some of the top dogs as well. Let's sweep Chicago again and extend the win streak to 10! Go Twins!

Do the Twins Have a Process at the Plate?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let's not get too excited over the somewhat improved stats by winning three and shortly 4 games from the White Sox. They masquerade as a major league team but in reality aren't much better than a AA team. The fact is they are terrible. Any conclusions that the Twins bats are back after playing them is really a stretch. Twins are still playing overall poor baseball just not as poor as the liely White Sox. Next week we should win all 3 games in Chicago. Then we start playing real teams again. We shall see. Maybe beating up on the dregs will somehow get us in a positive mode. I am not holding my breath.- 24 replies

Great comments by all. Blaming the schedule is ridiculous. Is anyone blaming the schedule now that we are playing the absolutely dreadful White Sox? Blaming the fact you are playing better teams shows how far the team is from being a top team. I put most of it on the ownership and FO. The ownership for cutting payroll by so much and doing such an unprofessional job in handling it. I blame the FO for coming up with new excuses for inept play. Yes the players need to play better. But the FO put the team together. They share in the responsibility. Of course players like playing here, especially the veterans. There's very little pressure on them by the media and especially the management to perform. The fact that we may soon reach .500 by beating up on the AA White Sox shouldn't mask the many problems with this team.

It's hard to knock a Twins win because they don't come very often. The best part was coming from behind in the last couple of innings and walking it off. Otherwise it was a pretty poor game. And yes this is the White Sox. The now 3-20 AA team embarrassing themselves and MLB masquerading as a major league team. Concerned about Lopez. He hasn't been sharp lately. Oh yes people are blaming the weather for his poor start? I think the weather was the same for the Sox pitcher Fedde and he shut us down with no problems. It is just hard for me to get too excited by beating such a terrible team in such an ugly fashion. But yes a win is a win and we need a lot of them. Only 11,000 fans there. Attendance so far is a problem. Go Twins. U R

Tough series for the Twins because the Sox are so bad they resemble a AA team. So it's tough because they should beat them. Hopefully this will expected sweep of the White Sox will help them gain some confidence and build some momentum. But scoringn7bruns and shutting out a team that is so bad is not a great achievement. But a necessary one. With Lopez, Ryan, and Ober the next 3 scheduled starters anything less than a sweep is inexcusable. Go Twins!
