  1. Nice win Twins!! We need to win Thursday to start a streak. Ryan was great. Ober needs a nice performance Thursday.
  2. Remember folks yes it's only 11 games. Yes overtime they lose that number increases. Also since the start of last years collapse, and the continued lackluster play this year the Twins are 15-35 in their last 50 games. Is that acceptable?
  3. Lee needs to be here and play everyday to see if he belongs in the majors. He hasn't shown much so far and with chronic back problems I'm guessing his baseball career is short lived. But the Twins have this thing about bringing up prospects then platooning them thus only playing half the time they are used to and half the time they need to develop into major league players. My candidate to get rid of is Ty France. His total lack of hustle is only surpassed by Baldelli's laid back, no sense of urgency philosophy of managing.
  4. So tired of all the Buck hype for 10 years now. Twins Daily is flooded every season about stories of how good Buxton is. It's so sad that we never saw a healthy Buxton for any length of time. Yes it's early. That's the teams motto as they are 3-8. That early feeling is on Buxton too. He looks terrible at the plate so far. Just like he has done a good chunk of his.time with the Twins. Where is this leadership from Buxton (and Correa) to get this team out of their malaise?
  5. One player on this team that has really missed me off so far is Ty France. He doesn't hustle at all. At least 6 times this year and twice yesterday he barely jogged to first base while grounding out. Yes he would have probably been out anyway but if you can't run hard to first 3 or 4 times per day you shouldn't be playing. He is an embarrassment to the team and Rocco does nothing about it. A lifeless team like this should at least try and make it look like they care. This team is dead and has been since last August.
  6. One very frustrating thing to me is if the Twins have the highest payroll in the Central the bigger problem is the poor job the Front Office, Falvey, have done in distributing those funds. Having spent so much of available payroll on just a few players has always seemed bordering on malfeasance. I am NOT a Pohlad fan but I believe the payroll dollars are adequate when compared to the rest if the central and baseball in general. A payroll of $145 million for a mid market team should be sufficient. After all many teams do great with less payroll dollars than the Twins. I would like to see an article devoted to the job Falvey has done in distributing the payroll dollars.
  7. Well for all the analytics and stats used to make up the lineup, it doesn't appear to be working too well so far. They are near the bottom in MLB in many offensive stats. My god they are 3-7 and two of those wins were against the White Sox. But that's all right. They keep telling us it's early. I know this may seem strange but I did some research today and found out the wins and losses do count in March and April. For all the hype they preach about the Twins they still have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years. I think we are being shown that they just are an average team.
  8. I know it's only 20 games. Several days ago was it's only 2 games. On and on it goes. I'm pretty sure that when the season ends the 7 losses still count. Keep in mind we have three wins and two of them are against the White Sox.
  9. There is no heart and soul on this team. It went away in mid Aughst last year and can't be found. Bader is thr closest thing. But he hits, leads the team in home runs and RBI and hustles which most of the other players don't do. Therein lies the problem. Rocco platooning perhaps his most productive player. If ever a team needed a new manager it's the Twins. They continue to play lifeless ball.
  10. I'm assuming that since Blewett did a decent job of saving the bullpen that he will be DFA as well. May as well get rid of the pitchers that actually perform. Also that France, like Correa and others doesn't run out ground balls in the infield. I've counted six times at least where France is loafing while "running " to first. Correa, Buxton, and Larnach, the number 2 3, and 4 hitters yesterday went a combined 0 for 12. It's sad that other than Baders 2 great catches that the only highlight was Rocco getting tossed by a joke of a home plate umpire that has no business masquerading as a major league umpire
  11. I hope Conner can excel with the Twins at the big league level soon. I'm not holding my breath though after all the can't miss great prospects we've been promised during the Falvey years. Yes we have some prospects on the Twins right now. But almost all of them have a lot to prove. Great article but I've learned to take all the overdone hype with a grain of salt.
  12. Yes indeed the bullpen is already cooked and it's only 9 games. Those of us that are concerned about their 3-6 start get ridiculed because it's only 9 games. The team bothers me at the end of 9 games because they are playing the same way they were during tge collapse last year. Boring, undisciplined baseball flawed fundamentally. There is very little life in this team. I still believe that gamed in April matter. At the end of the season those wins and losses still count. This year they really needed to get off to a good start. So much for that. OH that's right it's only 9 games. They don't matter. Right? Right?
  13. Terrible loss today. Ahead 7-1 at home you must win. Bullpen looks cooked already after 9 games. Way too much use. Bottom line is baldelli can support his overworked bullpen but the bottom line is the Twins are 3-6. That should be unacceptable to all. I don't see much difference to the Twins team at the end of last season. Very sad.
  14. I find it amazing that us overreacting fans are hammered. So far the Twins have only played 1 and a half good games out of 7. And their play early suggests the same malaise that infected the team during the collapse last season. Correa gets a mulligan all the time it appears as he is the leader of the club on a very high contract. There is nothing wrong with expecting more than an 080 batting average to date. The fallacy of blaming things on the weather and bad ball and strike umpiring is just enabling the same excuses. Both Correa and France in particular have jogged ( loafed) to first base several times already this season. Is it too much to ask for an effort? I really want this team to go far this year buy I just don't see it. The laid back attitude fueled by a nonchalant manager is getting old and tiring.
  15. Nice article. I agree that this team as of now looks eerily similar to last years team that collapsed. There is no fire or drive in this team that has plagued them a lot recently. The team plays listless and often times boring baseball. They are a definite reflection of Baldelli. No urgency, no drive, no desire to win and always making excuses. Rocco needs to go.
  16. Not surprised. After that 3rd inning tye offense went totally cold. How often has that happened the last couple of years? Correa is hitting .080. He is like 2 for 29 after a bad spring. Oh that's right spring training stats don't matter. Buxton looked good getting 2 hits. 2-5 not a good start. They keep telling us they aren't worried as it is early. Very true. But I think the losses still count.
  17. Very good article. But it is their team to do with what they wish. I hope they sell and let new ownership take over the team 100%. No Joe Pohlad. He just brings toxicity to the organization. I contend that payroll is ok. They are ranked 19th this year just barely in the bottom half but we'll above everyone else in the division. Mu contention is the FO has done a lousy job of allocating those dollars. The winning window is a farce. They have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years with about a middle of the pack payroll.
  18. Great win yesterday. Well played game all around. Just like the first four games were just that onlyb4 games. The same can be said of the last two games. It's only two games. Actually a game and a half. They didn't play well the first 5 innings against a pitcher making his major league debut. But they played great yesterday. Hopefully this is the start of a good trend. Tw
  19. Nice win Twins. Maybe for at least one day we won't here about their bad luck in a game. They had plenty of good luck on their side last night. They did a good job of taking advantage. Very possibly getting rained out Wednesday. Go Twins.
  20. The Twins will win tonight then at least for one night we will see how they tell us how great they are. Going 0-4 isn't the end of the world in baseball. But the way the Twins have been playing makes it appear that way. Just like when they were choking away their playoff chances late last year. They are playing the same uninspiring, boring baseball with no life to the team. It is important they win tonight. Or at least lose and play well which is something they haven't done yet.
  21. This has got to be the most repugnant article ever written for Twins Daily. Same old stuff. Fans get blasted for complaining about the team. Fans get blasted for voicing their opinions. Isn't that in part what this is for? If you are a public relations guru trying to bolster Baldelli and the Twins as a whole, you are not succeeding IMO.
  22. Just one of many reasons MLB has been going down hill the past several years. Their system is all messed up. It hurts me because I have always loved MLB. 60 years worth. Not to mention the Twins have very little class in their handling of some players. This isn't the first time the have done this to Dobnak and others. He was a surprise addition at the end of spring training. He was about the only bright spot for the Twins in St. Louis. He does very well and in addition saves the bullpen. His reward? Sent out.
  23. I'm not a fan of Baldelli and never have been. He made many blunders this weekend as noted by others. He should have been canned after last years debacle. His team was listless this past weekend very similar to the way they played the season out last year. Of all the clichés that baseball has I can't stand the it's a marathon not a sprint one. This is a losing teams lament when confronted by poor play. I do believe those 3 games still count in the loss column. As does the 3 for 20 in the runners in scoring position, as the team only led once all weekend, as they were out scored 19-6 for the series. I would imagine the Twins will sweep the lowly Whit Sox and then will tell us how great they are.
  24. Another in a long endless line of articles about Byron Buxton. It's been 10 years and we are still waiting to see the star Buxton perform regularly. It's a shame that this super- hyped player has had to endure all these injuries. We never got the chance to see him perform full time except in 2017. But he has a few years left in his contract and I'm sure we will have plenty of more Twins Daily stories about him. I actually hope he retires after his current contract expires. He owes it to his body and let's face it the Twins have been more than generous with him financially considering his part time playing and availability status.
  25. It would be interesting but not very realistic. Just like the Twins team as a whole everything would have to magically be near perfect for Ober to win the Cy Young award. He definitely can be the Twins ace. Best of luck to Bailey. Go Twins!
