Rocco Baldelli and the Case of the Missing Lever
Whitey333 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins continue to show they aren't serious about fielding a winning team. Their payroll is way too high for a team that is just plain unwatchable. Only 10,240 showed up Monday against a good Mets team. The smallest no covid crowd at Target Field history. I fully expect a salary dump coming this spring or summer.- 59 replies

Week in Review: Cold Bats, Hot Mess
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think you would be hard pressed to get a batboy in a Miranda trade lol. Miranda blew it at second base. That's inexcusable. Unfortunately it seems people are putting most of the Twins problems pinned on Miranda. There is plenty on this team to share the blame.- 17 replies

Twins 5, Tigers 1: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day
Whitey333 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well at this pace we should continue to be winning one of every three games. We are in a neck and neck race with the White Sox for last place. Good game today though! Only negative I really saw today was having to use the bullpen so much again today to try and nail down a win. That isn't sustainable. Go Twins- 39 replies

Tigers 4, Twins 0: Outplayed Every Which Way
Whitey333 replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This team is a trainwreck. We need to let the young players play and see IF they can play. The "veterans" are a joke just like the manager. I guess I am a joke too for buying this Twins team the past couple of years.- 112 replies

Interesting article Nick. You sure bash Miranda. And understandably and perhaps rightfully so. But Miranda situation is typical of so many of these young twins on the roster. They are fundamentally unsoun̈d and just not ready fir prime time. I don't think many of them will ever be. Exchanging Miranda for Lee is ok but it certainly doesn't move the needle. What has Lee done at the major league level? Nut much.

Tigers 7, Twins 6: It's Always Something
Whitey333 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wow. I just love everyone's comments. They are so spot on. Baldelli ball? I love it. The comment, not the manager. He continues to show why he is one of the poorest managers in baseball and maybe the worst manager in Twins history. It would be comical if it wasn't so sad. Only 12,000 people there. How long will it take to start dumping payroll dollars?- 68 replies

I'm so glad you have Baldellis back. I'm not sure if it was right or wrong. All I can say is when he left the game after only 73 pitches and doing well I knew disaster would happen. Isn't this the same Baldelli who had Ober pitch the first game after Ober was sick and was on an IV the day before? Isn't this the same Baldelli that let Ober pitch after losing 8 pounds and was weak? Weak? That's Baldelli.

Attendance will bottom out at around 1.6 to 1.7 this year. There could also be a significant payroll dump by the trade deadline. I think the Pohlads have done a decent job providing payroll dollars but a lousy job of supervising it's usage. Falvey does a lousy job of budgeting payroll given to him. Baldelli does a poor job of managing and playing sound and entertaining baseball. A true organizational failure.

Nice win Twins!! We need to win Thursday to start a streak. Ryan was great. Ober needs a nice performance Thursday.

Whom Should Brooks Lee Replace on Twins Roster?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Remember folks yes it's only 11 games. Yes overtime they lose that number increases. Also since the start of last years collapse, and the continued lackluster play this year the Twins are 15-35 in their last 50 games. Is that acceptable?- 91 replies

Whom Should Brooks Lee Replace on Twins Roster?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lee needs to be here and play everyday to see if he belongs in the majors. He hasn't shown much so far and with chronic back problems I'm guessing his baseball career is short lived. But the Twins have this thing about bringing up prospects then platooning them thus only playing half the time they are used to and half the time they need to develop into major league players. My candidate to get rid of is Ty France. His total lack of hustle is only surpassed by Baldelli's laid back, no sense of urgency philosophy of managing.- 91 replies

3 Signs Byron Buxton Is Finally Healthy
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So tired of all the Buck hype for 10 years now. Twins Daily is flooded every season about stories of how good Buxton is. It's so sad that we never saw a healthy Buxton for any length of time. Yes it's early. That's the teams motto as they are 3-8. That early feeling is on Buxton too. He looks terrible at the plate so far. Just like he has done a good chunk of his.time with the Twins. Where is this leadership from Buxton (and Correa) to get this team out of their malaise? -
One player on this team that has really missed me off so far is Ty France. He doesn't hustle at all. At least 6 times this year and twice yesterday he barely jogged to first base while grounding out. Yes he would have probably been out anyway but if you can't run hard to first 3 or 4 times per day you shouldn't be playing. He is an embarrassment to the team and Rocco does nothing about it. A lifeless team like this should at least try and make it look like they care. This team is dead and has been since last August.

One very frustrating thing to me is if the Twins have the highest payroll in the Central the bigger problem is the poor job the Front Office, Falvey, have done in distributing those funds. Having spent so much of available payroll on just a few players has always seemed bordering on malfeasance. I am NOT a Pohlad fan but I believe the payroll dollars are adequate when compared to the rest if the central and baseball in general. A payroll of $145 million for a mid market team should be sufficient. After all many teams do great with less payroll dollars than the Twins. I would like to see an article devoted to the job Falvey has done in distributing the payroll dollars.

Well for all the analytics and stats used to make up the lineup, it doesn't appear to be working too well so far. They are near the bottom in MLB in many offensive stats. My god they are 3-7 and two of those wins were against the White Sox. But that's all right. They keep telling us it's early. I know this may seem strange but I did some research today and found out the wins and losses do count in March and April. For all the hype they preach about the Twins they still have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years. I think we are being shown that they just are an average team.

There is no heart and soul on this team. It went away in mid Aughst last year and can't be found. Bader is thr closest thing. But he hits, leads the team in home runs and RBI and hustles which most of the other players don't do. Therein lies the problem. Rocco platooning perhaps his most productive player. If ever a team needed a new manager it's the Twins. They continue to play lifeless ball.

I'm assuming that since Blewett did a decent job of saving the bullpen that he will be DFA as well. May as well get rid of the pitchers that actually perform. Also that France, like Correa and others doesn't run out ground balls in the infield. I've counted six times at least where France is loafing while "running " to first. Correa, Buxton, and Larnach, the number 2 3, and 4 hitters yesterday went a combined 0 for 12. It's sad that other than Baders 2 great catches that the only highlight was Rocco getting tossed by a joke of a home plate umpire that has no business masquerading as a major league umpire
-
I hope Conner can excel with the Twins at the big league level soon. I'm not holding my breath though after all the can't miss great prospects we've been promised during the Falvey years. Yes we have some prospects on the Twins right now. But almost all of them have a lot to prove. Great article but I've learned to take all the overdone hype with a grain of salt.
-
Yes indeed the bullpen is already cooked and it's only 9 games. Those of us that are concerned about their 3-6 start get ridiculed because it's only 9 games. The team bothers me at the end of 9 games because they are playing the same way they were during tge collapse last year. Boring, undisciplined baseball flawed fundamentally. There is very little life in this team. I still believe that gamed in April matter. At the end of the season those wins and losses still count. This year they really needed to get off to a good start. So much for that. OH that's right it's only 9 games. They don't matter. Right? Right?

Terrible loss today. Ahead 7-1 at home you must win. Bullpen looks cooked already after 9 games. Way too much use. Bottom line is baldelli can support his overworked bullpen but the bottom line is the Twins are 3-6. That should be unacceptable to all. I don't see much difference to the Twins team at the end of last season. Very sad.
-
I find it amazing that us overreacting fans are hammered. So far the Twins have only played 1 and a half good games out of 7. And their play early suggests the same malaise that infected the team during the collapse last season. Correa gets a mulligan all the time it appears as he is the leader of the club on a very high contract. There is nothing wrong with expecting more than an 080 batting average to date. The fallacy of blaming things on the weather and bad ball and strike umpiring is just enabling the same excuses. Both Correa and France in particular have jogged ( loafed) to first base several times already this season. Is it too much to ask for an effort? I really want this team to go far this year buy I just don't see it. The laid back attitude fueled by a nonchalant manager is getting old and tiring.
