Twins 1, Nationals 0: The Zebulon Show
Whitey333 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice game for Matthew's. Not so much for the Twins. They won which is more important and Ryan Pitching Saturday should be a guaranteed win. Still our great offense only got 3 hits . Go Twins!- 41 replies

Excellent well thought out article. Im not a fan of Falvey. I think for all the reasons you listed, he and Baldelli have dragged the franchise down not up. Im not sure how you skirt around Falvey making these decisions though. IMO Falvey can't be totally trusted to make these decisions. But here we go. Best thing a new owner could do is replace the front office. Yes this includes both Falvey and Baldelli.

So what has Falvey done for the Twins? He sells hope, promise and what is. He's very good at that. But let's face it. His results have been very mediocre. He has been here 9 years i believe. During this time he has produced one team with at least 90 wins. They have missed the playoffs 3 of past 4 years while he keeps telling us how good the team and farm system. My contention is he is ruining this franchise. The young core they keep talking about has been way overrated and regressing in nature. He doesn't trade for a pitcher unless it has arm troubles lol. He has created this mess but I don't know if he can fix it. The best thing a new owner could do is dump both Falvey and Baldelli. Then dump some of the coaches and minor league people. This organization needs a thorough housecleaning.

Like most players on the team Larnach is expendable. The Twins so called win ing open windows is quickly shutting. Maybe it's shut now. Perhaps it hasn't really been open. Larnach like so many other of our core young players have under-performed , regressed, or perhaps otherwise been poorly developed and/or scouted. It seems that many of them play full time in minors then come up to a platoon system and wind up playing part time. I think larnach as well as other players are traceable but probably won't get much in return.

I saw in a podcast the other day that Correa has a WAR of near zero. Not very good for a man eating up about 35 mil per year on payroll. Except for a few flashes here and there he's been a big disappointment for the Twins.

I agree with the last poster. Ownership for being disinterested and not having much public relations skills. Tge front office for standing still and not trying to improve the team then blaming it on a tight budget. My contention has been that it isn't the payroll dollars it's how the FO has allocated them. The cheap pohlads montra understandable as it may be tends to be with little merit. They have had, and continue to have the highest or close highest payroll in the Central division. At last check I believe they were 19 out if 30 teams in total team payroll dollars. Falvey and company have done a terrible job of budgeting their payroll dollars. Also the manager deserves a lot.of blame. His lineups are strange and his stubbornness to stick to the plan even when losing is ridiculous. He is terrible at in game managing and leadership. It's mind-boggling to understand how he has lasted this long. The best thing any new ownership could do is dump both Falvey and Baldelli.

Dodgers 4, Twins 3: Checking Out
Whitey333 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I notice that you never mention the missed balls and strikes that benefit the Twins. Losers lament: if you can't win it must be someone else's fault like the umpires. I noticed your article never questioned or even mention that Baldelli walked Ohtani with first base already occupied. Sure you didn't want to face him but it's not generally accepted as a managerial strategy to intentionally walk a batter and not only move tge the tying run into scoring position but giving the potential winning run on first with an intentional walk. It's crazy how some people blame other things for the Twins poor play and results. It's simple. The Twins had a great chance to win two of three against a struggling dodger team. Instead they lost two of three and keep looking for excuses when many times they need to just look in the mirror.- 86 replies

Isn't this a typical theme with the Twins? Prospects not living up to their hype at the major league level? But it is too early to give up on Lee. I would guess a lot of young players wouldn't want to play here with the way they are played and not developed.

Sloppy win but a win none the less. The game was gift wrapped by the Dodgers to the Twins. Twins did a great job taking advantage of 7 walks from Dodgers pitchers not to mention their errors. Dodgers have list 11 ot their last 14 games. Hopefully they will gift wrap another victory for the Twins although it's highly unlikely. Then they will tell us what a great road trip they had at 2-4

To me the problem is the core and the management. The core for obviously not performing well and the management for doing a poor job of evaluating and training. Apparently this young can't miss core isn't nearly as good as all the hype. When we get new ownership they simply must dump falvey and baldelli sooner rather than later. Then work on coaches and the organization. It needs to clean house and get the stink out of the air.

Having a couple of strong back end bullpen arms is great. However this team has done very little in terms of playoffs and division titles since they have been here. They have missed the playoffs 3 of past 4 years and making it look like they miss again this year making it 4 of 5 years. Top end relievers are a luxury for non playoff teams. I hope the don't trade Ryan but if they get a good haul you have to listen. I don't think any long term contracts will be signed until ownership is settled.

They were competitive for parts of the game Monday against the Dodgers. But it doesn't matter when your end result is another loss. Unless of course you are Provus and Plueff who kept gushing about how great Buxton and Lewis are. Buxton is finally having a good year. But it took 10 years. Lewis has had two good games in a row. That's great but it doesn't make him a superstar. And Audra Martin doing those tidbits during the game is numbing. She continually babbles on and on about meaningless gibberish and talks over the game and the announcers. She has a great voice and may be a good play by play person if she would ever stop talking and take a breath once in a while. Can you imagine her and radio announcer Attebery working together? There would be constant chatter and little announcing. Sorry, just a meaningless rant on my part. Twins are 48-52 . That's where many of us figured this over hyped team would be.

Dodgers Calling On Jhoan Duran And Griffin Jax
Whitey333 replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Sure either one is traceable for the right deal. I would hope we would get at least one decent player to be of immediate use plus the normal prospects. Listen this team has been listless for going on two years and longer. They need a big boost but I have my doubts that they will do much. I'm guessing they trade players on the last year of their contract.- 52 replies

Nothing changes with the Twins. I think they will wind up making g some minor moves. Nothing big . Matthew's has proven very little at t g e major league level. His ERA this year is over 6. He's a Pitching body at this point. Keaschall did well in his very limited major league run but it's just a few at bats. Ober obviously is the key. But Twins need a lot more than Ober getting back to normal to be successful. Twins just keep proving they don't have nearly the depth in the minor leagues they keep boasting about. The Saints used to be a fun alternative. Now they are just as boring as the Twins.

I agree with the premise of the article. It is past time to sell. It should have started this past off season. No one should be considered untouchable on this team should a great deal come along. However other than the players finishing out their contracts I don't see Twins doing anything significant. As for new ownership: a new vision would help and a new direction. The Twins have missed the playoffs 3 of past 4 years, that alone should get Falvey fired. Plus the Twins payroll dollars are very much in line with other teams in mid market. In fact in many cases it is higher. Falvey has done a bad job allocating the payroll budget given him. I do not anticipate a new owner throwing money into this payroll pit. I suspect people will be disappointed by that. To me the prudent thing would be to clean house in the front office and dugout. Dump some of those high salaries and re work payroll to something manageable and practical.

Like many players on this team he is vastly underperforming. All you hear announcers say is if this player and that player and this pitcher and that pitcher come back and perform the Twins will be great. Too many ifs on this team and their has been for quite some time. Something is wrong. I even heard an announcer say it's still early in the season. My god we are down to just overb60 games left. That is not early it's late.
-
I don't know what the Twins will do. My guess is they may dump some of the players on expiring contracts. I say keep Ryan. I don't think he or anyone else will be given a long term deal until new ownership takes over. As for Baldelli if he is such a great manager why have we missed tge playoffs three of the past 4 seasons? Two of those misses were choke jobs. The manager in part sets the tone for the team he is given. And thus team way too often plays uninspiring, boring, undisciplined baseball.

When new ownership does take over i hope they clean house. Falvey and Baldelli have to go. We need some new direction. New players wouldn't hurt either. This team and organization is so stagnant. I'm not expecting a new owner to throw money around. Quite the contrary. I wouldn't be surprised if payroll is cut. Twins have had a decent payroll. I think it has been very poorly budgeted. Go Twins!!

They usually have trouble winning the last game of a series that could involve a sweep. I will give Baldelli credit for using a regular lineup. I was afraid it was going to be a B lineup. Hopefully they take care of business by winning all 3 in colorado.

Twins take a lot of shortstop and center fielders because that's where the most talented players are athletically they can move them around to other positions. I'm happy for the young man. He will get a nice bonus for never yet playing a professional game. If he fails he should still be set for life. The pick is typical of most Twins pics: suspects until they prove they are more than prospects.

What's all the buzz about in Wichita?
Whitey333 replied to Chris Hove's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Always interesting articles on our prospects. Every year it's the same thing. Great prospects to eventually help the Twins. Almost none of them will make it. That's just the nature of the business I guess. Over hype and hope. At least the top players that don't make it will have their bonus money to "survive" on. For me although it's fun to follow some of these can't miss prospects it just keeps reminding me of all the bs the organization throws out there. Good luck prospects. I really do hope many of you make it.
