  1. I agree with your article for the most part. Bottom line to me is firing Baldelli but keeping Falvey. The front office should have been replaced as well. Nothing really against Shelton but the hire is just a continuation of the failed policies of the current front office. They have succeeded in one thing though: totally turning off the fan base and perhaps a whole generation of fans.
  2. Maybe, just maybe, the Twins are stripping it down to make the franchise more attractive to a potential buyer. Wishful thinking? Yes probably.
  3. Great article. My sentiments exactly. Its obvious that ownership doesn't care as long as they make a buck or two. And it quite possible the payroll has been higher than it should have been. Before the trade sell-off the Twins were 17 out of 30 in payroll. Usually they led the Central division in spending. I think Falvey did a terrible job of.budgeting payroll. That in itself makes me question ownership wisdom in retaining Falvey. Hiring Shelton clearly sends the message that the status quo is entrenched and getting worse. I am quite sure the payroll purge will continue this off season. This team is going to be one of the most boring and bad team in Twins history. Im not getting used to it. After 6 decades of following the Twins I have given up on them even trying to compete.
  4. Just another in a long line of questionable moves by Falvey. Very underwhelming and very predictable. More poor and boring baseball the next several years
  5. Who? Who? OMG another exciting can't miss prospect. How many times have we heard that before?
  6. Boring hire. But I hope he somehow does well. To me this signals more payroll dumping this off season and a continuation of the who cares about the fans attitude from ownership. Falvey has been a joke since he got here and should have been fired when Rocco was let go. And people saying managers have very little impact on wins and losses: then why have them? I'm not an analytics fan but I do understand their usefulness. I object to using that nearly 100% of the time without using any common sense managing the team. Using baseball instincts and experience as part of the decision making. Twins are probably in for some very bad baseball for their fans. They have the right people in place to promote boring baseball in Falvey and Shelton.
  7. Very interesting analytical article. Great for this era of baseball. I would imagine that umpiring behind the plate in today's baseball is tougher than ever. Pitchers throwing faster, harder, and spins making much tougher to call pitchers. Not like in the older days when veteran pitchers like Maddox could consistently get called strikes 2-3 inches off the plate while the catcher just gives a good target and doesn't move his glove. Pitcher hits his spot and a strike us called even though they were usually off the plate. What I hate the last several years is catchers pulling in balls to the strike zone to fool the umpires. Gid it is so little leagues to do it but it works. I would guess the umps don't like that either as it makes them look bad. Catching as a position has gone so down hill the last few years anyway. I welcome the ABS system. Its long overdue. The umpires miss a lot if calls in crucial times.
  8. It's interesting all the dump on Larnach talk. I guess it's understandable and warranted. IMO hes another prime example of Twins young players becoming stagnant, and/or outright regressing. Something is wrong here with the lineup of young players in Larnachs spot. Are the Twins terrible at scouting? Drafting? Developing? Managing? All of the above? That in part is why it is hard to get too excited about the new wave of can't miss prospects like Jenkins and others.
  9. IMO the near future looks quite bleak. I hope it all works out but I doubt it.. I think the Twins under Falvey have done a poor job of developing their cant miss prospects. Almost all of them have missed. People just assuming.prospects like Jenkins, Gonzales are going to step in and be immediate superstars are just like management.. wishful thinking and over hype.
  10. Im always amazed at the amount of money given to unproven high school and college players in signing bonuses. I realize it is what it is in MLB but the millions given out to these players before they ever play even 1 professional game is astounding. Im not just talking Twins of course. It's like that for every MLB team. Seems like a very poor system. Kind of a crap shoot. No I do not have any solutions. It just seems like such a waste of money and resources.
  11. Im not and haven't been a Baldelli fan . However IMO they would have been better off to keep him than to just hire a Baldelli 2.0. If i had to make a choice of those 4 it be Rowson. I find it interesting that Toby Gardenhire isn't mentioned more. But he definitely is not my choice and doesn't belong in the conversation. But as their AAA manager not being considered us kind of slap in the face thing. Just goes to show that the organization doesn't think a whole lot of him either.
  12. Correa best Twins SS ever? OMG this must be one of those satire articles. Nevermind!
  13. Just another can't miss prospects that will likely miss. He. Like Buxton, shows flashes of excellence and bigger flashes of ineptitude. Buxton had a great "full" season even though he missed 36 games. But it took Buxton 10 years to get there. We can't wait that long for Lewis. And now we will likely be getting a new hitting coach to further mess him up. In addition he whines a lot publicly about his time with the Twins. I say it's time to cut bait from Lewis.
  14. I am not a Pohlad fan. They have pretty much torpedoed any enthusiasm and development of this organization. One of my biggest criticisms is their continued employment of Falvey as head of the Twins. He has failed miserably. People complain about payroll and understandably so. My contention has been Falveys handling of payroll budget. Last year before the trading purge the Twins were 17th out of 30 teams in team payroll. Not good but not so dire. They consistently have been at the top of AL Central in payroll more times than not. I think Falvey has done a terrible job of distributing the payroll given him. The record $164 million payroll was.and is unsustainable in this market. I thi k the Pohlads may be "cheap" but that is overdone. What i think is payroll next year will be around 100 million or less. No meaningful signings. Why spend big on payroll when you just tore it down? Why spend payroll on a bottom feeding team? I think we are in for a long stretch of poor baseball.
  15. Yes indeed. The Twins usually shop at the dollar store not an official free agent list. Plus any pitcher the Twins do sign must have arm troubles and due for surgery.
  16. Very nice well thought out article. It sure points out a lot of problems with the organization. Poor player development even down to the minors. Players regressing is a huge concern. Maybe they were over hyped like normal and just aren't that good. Maybe it just reinforces what a failure Falvey and the front office has been. It appears we may be in for a long haul of poor baseball.
  17. The Twins rotation is bordering on incompetence. Ober looks awful, Ryan looks great but has had 2 bad second halves tye past two years. Lopez is good but limited by injuries and his 21.5 million dollar salary. The rest are unproven inconsistent AAAA type players. I will admit there is potential. But top 5 in American League? No way. The manager they select will will be a Baldelli clone micromanage by Falvey.
  18. Nice article. Buck has gone through a lot. Ive been a critic of him for years and still am. He had a great season in 2025 and plaid a somewhat full season. He still only played about 80% of the teams game. But he persevered. Git to give him credit. The "C" is largely symbolic. Let him have it. It may be the only positive move the Twins make this off season.
  19. Reminded me of the old TV game show I think it was truth or consequences when the announcer would say Would the real Bailey Ober please stand up? Yes ww need the good Ober. But im concerned that he looks broken down. Velocity way down. Hope Ober gets back on track for next year
  20. I love all the comments and opinions. They are all so accurate . Im of the opinion that both Ryan and Lopez will be traded. Lopez for sure as his 21.5 million salary for each of 2026 and 2027 doesn't fit within a team rebuilding and slashing payroll. Ryan should get good returns unless we keep getting more of those can't miss prospects. We have plenty of those. They do miss prospects.
  21. The Carlos Correa salary dump is not complete. Keep in mind the Twins will be paying Houston Astros 10 million dollars per year for each of the next three years as part of the dump. Im sure that 10 million will be figured into their payroll the next 3 years.
  22. It will be interesting to see who they hire as manager. Im suggesting it will be a Baldelli clone. Someone that takes orders from Falvey and doesn't rock the boat. Im prepared for a payroll next season in the 85-95 million range. We will navigate toward being thr Pittsburgh Pirates of the American League. Perennial doormat, low payroll, and always trading players for prospects. Always in that vicious cycle. I hope im wrong but we could be ok in for some bad baseball for a long time.
  23. Great articles Jamie!! I really appreciate all the research that went into it. It's just so sad that here we are again as Twins fans: trying to find another can't miss prospects. With the Twins almost always miss. Given the fact the Twins are rebuilding yet again, they need to get a top college player that could even make the Twins in 2026. My confidence level in the Twins to properly draft AND develop top young talent is at an all time low.
  24. What a waste of time debating the relevance and who won the Polanco trade. First does it even matter? Second what about the 3 stiffs we got in return? 4 when you add in another can't miss prospects that will in all likelihood miss. The Twins have a slew of those can't miss prospects. My biggest contention has been with Falvey. Yes the ownership sucks but IMO Falvey sucks worse. The Twins consistently have the highest or near highest payroll in a very weak central division. Last year they were 17th overall out of 30 teams in payroll before the trades. I think Falvey has done a terrible job of spending payroll dollars and player selection and development. There are teams in our division with significantly less payroll than the Twins. Falvey is a failure and im not sure why he gets a pass from all this. Yes ownership needs to go. Falvey should have been fired with Baldelli. He is the biggest problem after the Pohlads
  25. Great satire article. One of the few that I've enjoyed. Well thought out!
