Twins 2025 Draft Pick Ryan Daniels Retires
Whitey333 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Sorry he had to leave the game he loves. Does he have to return his signing bonus? -
Yawn, yawn, yawn. Another exciting Twins move. Im sure there is more like these to come. Just 6 morr weeks to spring training. Can't wait to see out Twins 26 man roster of has been, misfits, hopefuls, look like in 2026. Just another dumpster diving move. I just don't see the Wagaman move as a good one.

First FanGraphs is one of the least accurate and dependable baseball analysts. Second why is the Buxton contract considered "team friendly?" If you just took 2025 then yes he was under paid for THAT season. But what about all the other years where he only plaid half or slightly more of a season. We could call them " player friendly" for being a part time player. I mean really the Twibs paid him $100 million dollars for a part time player. As I recall I don't think they held a gun to Buxtons head to make him sign. He obviously thought the deal was good enough and he signed it. As this season approaches it looks like another "run it back" philosophy that has failed. I hope all these over hyped prospects do pan out. Ive been waiting for good baseball for quite sometime. Maybe the question will be will anyone attend the games at beautiful Target Field.

5 Ways to Remember the Twins’ 2025 Farm System
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
The premise of your article is correct. A strong farm system for the Twins is of the utmost importance. But all too often the farm system operates on hope and hype. Each year it's the same as people talk about can't miss prospects. In the Twins case all too often those can't miss prospects miss. They don't pan out they regress or just prove they may be AAA or AAAA type players that never reach their often over hyped potential. I sure hope this supposedly #2 ranked miss or league system pans out. Im just not buying the ridiculous over hype of our prospects anymore. Prove it first.- 28 replies

Should the Twins Deal from Their Rotation Depth?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As usual the teams philosophy this year is to build on hype and hope . These time is right to trade both Ryan and Lopez while they can still get something decent in return. -
Don't see it happening. They recently signed Bell. They got him relatively cheap for 7 million. This is just the type of low key inexpensive move the Twins are noted for. Not interested in Walker

Why the Twins Didn't Sign Luis Arraez
Whitey333 replied to Greggory Masterson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Unbelievable. More over analyzing a player over many flawed analytics. People can twist stats for their purposes. This is done many times to make marginal players look great or bad depending on the person's need. An agent may twist analytics to get his player more money just as a writer uses analytics to try and prove his point. Aareaz is a good player I agree. I also agree hes not great. On another front it would have probably been a good idea to sign him to try and generate fan interest. Fans love him. That's where analytics blow it IMO -
Same Offseason, Different Winter for the Twins
Whitey333 replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Falvey is a joke. He has mismanaged the payroll given him over the years. Until recently the Twins were at the top or near the top in team payroll in the Central division. Before the trades they were about 17 in payroll. Not great but not bottom feeders until the past few years. But to spend payroll dollars on players like Correa and Donaldson with out enough to build around them is just plain incompetence. Attendance las year was at a 25 year low for the franchise. That alone speaks volumes about how the fans feel about the teams direction. Nothing has changed except even lower payroll. Otherwise it's the same old bargain basement shopping and trying to sell hype and hope to fans and hope they buy into it. It's not working. Don't blame the Twins philosophy and direction on the fans. -
Im becoming more and more convinced that they need to trade Ryan, Lopez, Buxton, maybe Jeffers. I don't like losing those players but we finished with 92 losses last year. Their trade value may never be higher than it is now. Even with those players we are a long way from being a contender plus it would seem unlikely that ownership would be willing to give them extensions when they come up. May as well go full rebuild and finally see what if anything these over hyped can't miss prospects can do. Besides the fans are already tuned out as las year marked their lowest attendance in 25 years. Unfortunately Falvey just comes across as just a bag of wind. He continues to sell hype and hope. Hype the unproven prospects and hope the ever shrinking fan base buys into it. So far that strategy has failed miserably.

Bottom line appears to be the Twins will be bottom feeders in 2026 and they hired the perfect manager to guide the team in 2026. He has plenty of experience managing a team like the Pirates into the ground. Im expecting the same with the Twins.

Why would they spend the saved Correa money? Makes no sense. Then they could have just kept him. But seriously he doesn't belong kn the Twins anyway. Never really did. To me it was just another example of mismanaging the payroll dollars given to him by ownership. Now there is about 45 million dollars less in payroll availability than there was just two years ago in 2023 when the payroll reached around 155 million. Then the FO tries to tell us there is more payroll possibly available. Like from the current 95 mil to 110 or so. That's not an increase in payroll that was drastically cut starting in 2023. Don't let them bs you.
-
Im not buying Falveys corporate lingo bs about having more payroll. The payroll has steadily dropped over the past 2+ seasons. Now they are talking about raising payroll some. But that's from the currently under 100 million to maybe 100 or 110. That's not raising it. Playing with words. Also don't forget that 11 million of the payroll will be going to Astros each of the next three years in the Correa trade to Houston.

Well we have gotten 3 different views from different national noted baseball insiders just within the past couple of weeks. Who do you believe? Galveys greatest asset is selling snow in the wintertime. You can't believe much of anything he says. IMO if the don't trade some of those players now when their value may be at its peak it's a huge mistake. If you then aren't going to add significant pieces to your team then it's a huge mistake. Way too many holes to fill. Way too much "if" mentality. Running back the same team will be a disaster.

I think the Twins may owe it to Buxton to trade him to a contending team IF that is what he wants. Listen Buck had a great 2025. Im happy for him. But 2025 and 2017 were tge only 2 years he played full time in 10 seasons with the Twins. We all know his injury problems. He's been ultra dedicated to keep playing. Whereas he was statistically under paid in 2025 he still has been compensated very well by the Twins. 100 million dollars given to a part time injured player is very generous. I don't see teams looking to hand him a huge new contract with his non dependable playing status. I actually hope that if he leaves it's by HIS choice and that he does extremely well wherever he ends up.
-
Fangraphs? Seriously? What a joke. Your article is good but if you are suggesting it gives us something to chew on i say be careful you might choke. And I hope people that throw up like to do so because that is what's likely to happen if you swallow it. I want them to do well. Ive followed Tyrone Twins for many decades and will continue to do so. But for once I'm not buying all the jope and hype out there anymore especially from Falvey. It's been happening for years.

5 Best Suitors in Byron Buxton Trade Rumors
Whitey333 replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes now us the time to trade Buxton when his value is relatively higher. But I'm not expecting much in return. He was great in 2025 but his injury history will limit his return. But I'd trade him while you can. The team has another reason to trade him: 15 million of them. They are looking to dump salary so that " saves" them payroll. He's been somewhat good for the Twins. Played 2 'full" seasons out of 10. This past year was awesome. But the Twins have been good to him over the years as well. I mean really they paid him 100 million dollars as essentially a part time player. That's a lot of money to pay for someone who can play great but is also not someone you can count on. Byron deserves to be traded to a team of his choosing. He's earned that. -
At this point it makes sense to tear it down all the way. Move Ryan, Jeffers, Lopez, and Buxton while you can get something good for them. As far as our farm system being so great so many ofbthose can't miss prospects have either missed or underperformed already. Throwing names like Jenkins and Walker and Culpepper and others as if the are major league superstars already is ludicrous. They haven't proven anything yet. People ask about not developing superstars in our system. Did I miss something? Joe Mauer was drafted number one overall and is now in the hall of fame. How soon we forget lol. But I agree they don't do it too often.

Passan: Buxton Willing To Waive No-Trade Clause
Whitey333 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Not a surprise at all. Buxton has played 2 "full" seasons out of like 10 or 11 years. He's been very dedicated and worked his butt off. I think the Twins owe him the opportunity to play for a contender at this stage of his career. His remaining 3 years on his contract pay him 15 mil per year for a total of 45 mil. Most teams have no issue with that. If that is what Buxton wants I think the Twins should accommodate him. -
Interesting article. Looking at all the players you list is depressing. Accurate but still depressing nonetheless. As much as I like Ryan, Lopez, and Jeffers, heck Buxton too, now is probably time to trade them. Why keep them if you don't care to compete? They should be at their highest level for a good return. Lopez at 21.5 mil is way over Twins budget. Ryan could bring you a nice return. Keep in mind that each of the past two seasons Ryan has looked gassed. Jeffers could bring value too. And Buxton? After a great season management owes it to him to trade him to a serious contender. Byron deserves that.

Good luck to those players. Much more likely though is they join the long list of Twins failed prospects. Im afraid it could just as easily or more so be products of over hope and over hype.
