  1. There are very few players that can play great defense moving all over the field. Castro is a rare player in that he can play good defense at several positions, but some other players have been a bit stretched. There is also the fact that this FO has a type they draft, and it doesn't seem defense is one of the top priorities. Also, a lot of rookies will make rookie mistakes. I'll also add the lack of fundamentals being coached today. TK would have a fit. His teams played fundamentally sound.
  2. It may be too late for a team that has so many guys that choke in the clutch!
  3. If you live by the bomba, you die by the bomba. When they were winning tou saw guys willing to go to the opposite field and worked. Other teams are staying away from the Twins hitters so take those outer half pitches and drive them oppo for hits. Now I watch, so many are practically bailing to try and pull the ball.
  4. I have noticed that the better teams have a pretty consistent lineup, where the Twins lineup seems to differ every game. I think the players would be more comfortable knowing their place in the lineup, just as a normal pen has a normal pecking order. As far as the pen goes, Cleveland made it clear how important a good pen is. The Twins have seemed to try washed up pen pieces and believe they can mold them into more. If they are eliminated from the playoffs, ownership will need to take a good hard look at personnel from Falvey on down.
  5. One thing that has been plain to see is that Castro is not the answer at short. He is fine as a spot starter there, but not as a regular. I don't know much about the planter issue, but I would think the shoe companies could figure out something to help him.
  6. I was kind of surprised by last nights lineup. Here they are, in a dogfight for the last WC spot, and Buxton and Lewis are sitting, and Margot is playing? Come on guys. Suck it up and get out there! And if this is Rocco, what the heck is he thinking? Margot should only be in lineup against LH pitchers.
  7. If they fail to make the playoffs (as it looks like they will) its definitely time to shake up the coaching staff. Maybe hire a manager that can think on his own and not a yes man like Rocco. I think Falvey has done a pretty good job with the payroll he has to work with. Can't very well fire the owners though IMO that's where the true problem is.
  8. Maybe getting hit in the head by a pitch slowed him down, and like Miranda, took him some time to get right again.
  9. I wonder if the players were playing thru more injuries in the previous century. I know they are getting bigger and stronger today, but that may be part of the problem. Pushing the human body past it's limitations leading to more injuries?
  10. I know Rocco has the stats showing Margot isn't a viable option pinch hitting yet he keeps using him. He could have used Farmer to PH or even Vasky, but of course he goes with the rock headed move with Margot.
  11. Just more mis-management of the pen. Jax is probably out tonight, and Duran, after throwing 30 pitches last night, will at the least be very limited or not available tonight.
  12. I don't really care who carries the games, so long as they are available.
  13. I can't argue with the premise that these guys would make the team better. However, I can't see ownership increasing payroll enough to fit them in. IMO the need is for another SP that can slot in behind Ober and Ryan, a RP that throws LH, and possibly try to keep Santana on a lower payroll number, maybe 5-6 mil?
  14. Lopez just needs to watch the location and pitch like an Ace should!
  15. IMO, they better play them as much as possible over the next week. No point in "saving" them for October unless you're certainly in the playoffs. The Twins have choked away what appeared to be a sure thing a few weeks ago. No room for error now.
  16. Duran will be fine. Next to Jax, he's the best we got. He will rise to the occasion when he gets it.
  17. Glad to have him back, but I'm starting to think it's too little, too late. The only hope I see is if the lineup can get hot. Is Correa the spark? I hope so.
  18. Yep, the experts really nailed it this past spring, one of the best pens in league.
  19. The Mahle trade would have been OK if he stayed healthy. I would question the medical staff how they didn't see the problems. It still would have been a bit of an over pay, but as I remember the Twins were going to lose some guys in the rule 5 draft anyway. Petty could well turn out an ace, but 2 years of Gray and recouping the draft capital with the compensation draft still looks like a trade I'm OK with.
