  1. Trade Correa and watch interest in the team drop. They need to increase interest, especially with the broadcast situation. Are the Pohlad's smart enough to figure this out? So far it seems they aren't,
  2. IMHO the list of what needs to be done is long and probably impossible with the payroll limitations they have.
  3. The only way to make a deal like this to work well is to create an awful lot of interest in the team. Sure, us die hard fans will pay to watch, but they need to increase that number 3 or 4 times to make money. This teams marketing dept. doesn't seem to have a good idea on how to do this. The only other solution is to win a lot of games, and IMO that isn't very important to the ownership. It will be interesting to see what they can do to improve attendance and interest when they see a sharp drop-off in revenue!
  4. That's the way this team is built. Slow, plodding runners hoping for 3 run homers.
  5. So correct! This staff under Rocco has gotten worse it seems each year playing a fundamentally strong defense. If they don't start playing better D they are destined to lose a lot more, as their hitting just isn't strong enough to make up for it.
  6. This tend we see under Rocco of late season collapses are what I see as Rocco's biggest problem. I don't know how to fix it. An answer may lie in the construction of his lineups. I think the Twins must have been at the top of the league for different lineups this year. Also, you would think when you see something just isn't working, like Margot pinch hitting, or even the heavy reliance on analytics vs "gut", maybe try changing?
  7. The Pohlads don't seem to care what fans think. If they would only open their eyes and see what the fans see, and treat them the way they should be treated, they would realize how much revenue they are losing out on. They got a beautiful new ballpark at the taxpayers expense not that long ago, but who cares? They promised to work out a streaming TV deal and then they went back to Bally, but they don't care. They could be a team with a pretty good chance for success, meaning more people in the stands, but they don't care because it's a business decision. Missing out on the revenue from the playoffs? Pohlads need to get someone who knows how to run a business IMHO. And don't even get me started on the way they treat season ticket holders, or accommodate handicapped fans!
  8. Another thing that pissed me off was the handling of the last game. Sitting players that fans pat handsomely to see at any home game is a bad thing IMO, but to do it on the last day of the season? This team need to learn a lot about public relations. W/O the public, there is no team!
  9. I will remind everyone, including the Pohlads, that there were a lot of promises made in order to get the financing for the beautiful new park. So, IMHO, Joe is making a liar out of his father and grandfather!
  10. Wonder why Twins have an attendance issue? Just look at what die hard fans are saying on this site.
  11. Even if they make it. which I doubt, It will be a quick exit.
  12. The ownership announcement early in the off season was mistake #1. Slashing payroll that much at one time was mistake #2. FO made poor trade for one of its most popular players. FO also signed FA relief pitchers w/o looking at the full history of the player. Trading deadline decision to stand pat was a huge mistake. Rocco thinking moving players all over the field, and expecting them to perform was crazy, as was his juggling lineups every day. His bullpen management has been bad for his entire tenure here. And the lack of playing fundamentally strong is inexcusable. I could go on and on. IMO the personnel need to changed, at least the coaching staff!
  13. IMO Falvey gets to stay but the coaching staff needs to be changed. I'm not really that surprised about missing the playoffs, after all, this team has been pretty bad against teams with winning records. Even if they made the playoffs, how far could they go?
  14. This team has been a collection of chokers. Pressure effects some people that way. Too much pressure and too many guys with their hands around their throats too win. Now we can think about next season. But really, how much will change? Mostly the same chokers. Such a beautiful ballpark that sits 1/2 empty due to so many fans that either can't afford tickets in a tight economy, or people that have better things to do than watch a team lose again. Changes need to be made. Will Falvey be back? What about the coaching staff? Something must change!
  15. IF Paddack is ready have him start game 1 using Festa or SWR for bulk relief. Between starter and reliever they could hopefully get thru the first 5 and hopefully keep it close and let the other guys finish it. If 3rd game is needed I would think Ober would go a day early. Afterall its do or die time!
  16. Looks like the Tigers are the Cinderella team this year.
  17. They look cooked to me. I kind of wonder if Rocco has lost the team. From what I hear he's a great communicator, and seems very popular with the players. But this weekend some of the players seemed to have given up. Just sayin.
  18. Buxton is still a guy I consider a "must watch" type. He stays in CF as long as he stays healthy, or someone in the minors really impresses. Simple fact is they win more when he's in the lineup, then when he's not!
  19. The biggest thing I've noticed is he isn't hitting the ball very hard which is bore out by the barrel%. I do think he's playing hurt and I respect him for trying, and for is upbeat personality. The only guys that are hitting the ball hard with any regularity seem to be Larnach and Wallner, and up till this past weekend, Correa. They're hitting the Twins way. Swing hard, hope you hit it and try to pull the ball in the air. Opposing pitchers stay away, away, and then in hard. If they just go with the pitch the opposite way there's a lot of hits over there. Eventually, as pitchers see this, they will come inside and then let it rip.
  20. I wouldn't put all the blame on owners, but rather split between FO and owners. Pohlads are the money sure, but the FO does the negotiating first, then if it goes over the payroll they must get approval. Pohlads are smart enough to let the baseball guys make most of those decisions.
  21. Falvey may be feeling some heat as well.
