  1. I am happy for him, and my wife is Uber Happy. ?
  2. This occurred to me after I wrote my response: "I wouldn't want to join any Club that would have me for a member." - Groucho Marx
  3. Bah Humbug. A pitcher calculating the advantages of joining the Twins wants: -A ballpark which makes it difficult to get extra base hits and/or home runs, -A defensive team that a pitcher can reasonably expect to prevent excess run scoring, -A relief corps that can be expected to hold a lead. Looking at last year, we have a pitcher favorable ballpark, but we had a terrible defense and for the most part of the season, a terrible bullpen. This leaves the Twins a less than desirable landing place for a quality starter, looking for a home, even if the Twins offer the most money. I would be suspicious of any "top" pitcher that wants to join the Twins. Bah Humbug.
  4. Throw out 2021. Pitching decisions were most often made under unique conditions. 2022 will be a different season. Starters should be trying to get "Well Pitched Games" of 6 or more innings with 3 ER or less. If a pitcher has a stress free 5th or 6th (or 7th or 8th) inning, Rocco should leave him in and let him keep dealing. By my calculations, if we have 5 of this type of starter, the Twins will be back in the playoffs.
  5. I hope the NL adds the DH. This means we can trade (or give away) Donaldson and make room for Garver/Sano to be our DH. This means that the Twins will NOT bring back Cruz (even though he is my wife's favorite player). Oh well. Sometimes wives need to be disappointed for the good of the team.
  6. hmmm I don't understand this. As a subscriber to MLB streaming service, I just want to be able to watch (or listen) to all the Twins games. I hope they keep it simple.
  7. I found little to complain about when he was in the field. He obviously adjusted well to better pitching in St. Paul. Lets hope the Twins don't trade Buxton. Lets hope they don't have to rely on Celestino in '22. Lets hope they can stay with Celestino until he matures as a hitter. (lets hope Celestino doesn't turn out like the typical Cleveland center fielder.)
  8. I'll say it again... If you trade a major league hitter for a pitcher be prepared for it to be a bad trade. Look at the many examples in Twins history. Cruz for Ryan & Strotman will be the next. Span for Meyers was a classic. Never trade a major league hitter for a pitcher. It will come back and bite you almost every time.
  9. I think the Twins have 3 chances for a good result in '22. Ober, Ober & Ober.
  10. Larnach was terrible for the Twins and no better for the Saints. If he doesn't show sharp improvements in 2022 he is out of the picture. The last game Ryan pitched should be a warning sign to all of us. He isn't going to be a major league starter until he proves he can consistently pitch 3 times through a batting order and allow 3 runs or less doing it. His mediocre fast ball will not fool major league hitters for long unless he has complete command of it. I agree that Alcala should be on the list. He could end up as next years closer.
  11. Rooker & Larnach should start in AAA. Rooker has + speed? If so, the Twins should be putting him in training to recognize hit balls, route running and strengthening his arm. This would make him a viable LF contributor. If Buxton is with us, Celestino could compete with Cave for 4th OF, otherwise he is Buxton's heir apparent.. Perhaps we don't need a 4th OF if we keep Gordon and Arraez? Garver would be a perfect part-time DH. This means Astudillo is a handy back-up for catcher and 3b/2b/1b or any other spot that doesn't require speed, where we have an injury. I want Donaldson to be gone so Miranda can play 3b every day. He has nothing to prove in AAA and he should play every day in the majors. Twins pitching has so many possibilities that I won''t try to address them here. I do know this. I want at least 3 starting pitchers that regularly pitch 3 times thru a lineup and don't give up more than 3 runs doing it. I'd like 5 pitchers like that, but I am trying to be realistic.
  12. I think it all depends on their decision on Buxton. Buxton clearly is not ready to sign anything other than a high contract. If the Twins decide to keep him for one more season, then I wouldn't expect any of our key players to be traded. If they deal Buxton in the off-season then I expect Kepler, Sano, Donaldson & perhaps even Polanco to be traded. Miranda, Celestino and perhaps Austin Martin can be brought up to fill the gaps.
  13. I think a good number of those on the 60-day disabled list will be DFA'd also. Smeltzer, Thorpe, Garlick & perhaps Stashak come to mind.
  14. Perhaps we would be better off if we completely forget about the 2021 numbers. Everything that has happened since the pandemic makes 2021 a year like no other. Of course, there are some obvious cuts the FO should make, but overall the stats for '21 are affected by too many variables that have never happened before and are unlikely to happen again.
  15. Yankees gone. If Dodgers lose there will be no team to hate on. Wait !!! There is always Houston and Atlanta. At least I won't be crying that the Twins can't win a playoff game.
  16. I hate the way Rocco handles his pitchers. He put unproven pitchers into high leverage situations and too often this proved to be a bad idea. If the Twins were behind when he put a weak/unproven pitcher in, he left them in to run up the score. Too often the Twins offense was so far behind it was almost impossible for them to think about catching up. It is to the players credit, that they stayed focused and kept scoring runs. I grade Rocco a D.
  17. Sign Buxton and trade Celestino for more pitching.
  18. Re-sign Pineda. Send Rooker and reassign Larnach to AAA. (or trade them, if that is possible). Keep Minaya. Keep Miranda, Lewis, Winder, Enlow. I like your reasoning on keeping Palacios. Ryan, Jax & Barnes all have low 90's fastballs, but Barnes is a lefty. Give Barnes some more time and he might be a competent starter. I am not a believer in Ryan. I think hitters will adjust and then we will see if Ryan can make the adjustments and be able to pitch 6 innings consistently. Jax intrigues me. I suspect that over the winter he will make some adjustments to his mechanics and he will also be a competent starter. These 3 may be our back-end starters for the next few years.
  19. These are good articles. Keep them coming.
  20. I still have my number 33 shirt from back in the day. I still occasionally we & ar it and think fondly of how he would drive doubles to left-center & right-center.
  21. Saturdays game shows why we do need to resign Big Mike for 2022. He throws this kind of game again and again. Perhaps this years injury will persuade him to come into camp next year in better shape. Perhaps being in better shape will make him less prone to injury. I can picture him consistantly pitching this kind of game for several years to come.
  22. 2 games does not a season make. I hope that next year I am writing: 1 season does not a career make.
  23. What does this mean? Fort Myers Mighty Mussels placed SS Keoni Cavaco on the temporarily inactive list
  24. This is all very interesting, however, it completely ignores the fact that most of these pitchers did not want to relocate to Minnesota. Their reasons may or may not have been valid, but it is my understanding that Minnesota wasn't even on the radar as a desirable place to play. Perhaps if the Twins had a better defense. I had hopes that Donaldson-Simmons on the left side would tighten up our defense, but alas, it was not to be so. Since the top pitchers would not move here, even if we matched their top-dollar offers, what strategy do we have left?
  25. and in his last outting he thru lots of ground balls. Thats what I wanted to see.
