  1. Congratulations to Rocco. Think how good he will be if he ever learns how to handle his bullpen.
  2. People are ignoring the fact that when there are runners in scoring position, no Twin is better than Eddy bringing them home.
  3. Gibson is a free agent. Sure, but he is also a lifelong Twin and by all accounts a good teammate. If his illness is cured, then there is no reason not to try and sign him to a "reasonable" contract. If it doesn't look like he is totally well, then let him go. He gave the Twins some good years and I wish him the best.
  4. I love stolen bases. I loved the Piranha's. However, the way the Bombas Squad hits, it is wiser to play base to base baseball. Earl Weaver did it and he didn't have the HR potential that the Twins do. Look how many runs we lost because of aggressive base running, then a HR was hit. It was frustrating and wonderful and frustrating again. This team needs to run smart and trust their teammates to bring them home.
  5. If I was the Pohlads I would be thinking... spending more money makes it look like we are trying. Looking that we are trying + a winning record = more customers (wwhich will repay us the extra # spent.) on the other hand... Paying less $$$ makes us look cheap and that we don't care about winning. Which means that even if we have a winning record we will NOT greatly increase attendance which means that not only won't win but we will also decrease the value of the Twins. This means the Twins better have a better payroll than 2019 or the Twins fanbase will totally turn on ownership. The proof will be in the attendance figures.
  6. Don't care much for these moves, I would however be interested in the hallucinogens you took to construct it.
  7. 10 years after they install robo-umps we will have forgotten why we ever worried about it. It will be natural and organic and "no big deal".
  8. I trust the eye test. My eyes tell me that Eddie was OK this year. -too often he tried to throw home, when he had no chance, and allowed a runner to move to second. -His throws to home and to 2nd base were generally VERY accurate. -too often he tried to catch a ball that was out of his range, which allowed runners to advance while the center fielder chased down the ball. A little discipline here might go a long way. Eddie, isn't superman and shouldn't try to be.
  9. 10 years from now Gordon will be playing somewhere in the major leagues. DNA tells us so. Lets hope the Twins get something of value for him.
  10. 3 Reasons why the White Sox won't rival the Twins. 1. They have to live in Chicago. 2. They have to live in Chicago. 3. They have to live in Chicago.
  11. Even my wife would gripe when Sano swung at a pitch, low and outside. Fortunately, that happened less and less as the season progressed.
  12. I am looking forward to Wheeler's stats at the end of 2020. Wherever he is, I bet the Twins will be glad they didn't add him.
  13. My wife has become a big Twins fan this summer. One of the reason's is Arraez. She loves watching him hit. Also, she thinks Cruz is a big teddy bear. as well as being a great hitter and a wonderful example to the younger players.
  14. After thinking about this...I'd be happy if we opened with the same rotation we had last year (assuming Gibson is cured). Jose should get better. Odo may be coming into his own. Gibson could be his healthy self. Pineda a was just fine the way he was and Perez could improve. I grant you that I am doing some wishful thinking, but its baseball, and we have to lose some games sometimes.
  15. His OBP was only .300. He only walked 22 times. but his arm was accurate (8 assists compared to Keplers 4). and he hits in the clutch. (.340 RISP). I enjoyed each time I chanted "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie!" this past year.
  16. Sano can improve in 3 ways. - His positioning. (His coaches should be more active with that.) - His quickness (he could lose 20 lbs and add muscle) - His decision making. (That comes with experience.) His arm is fantastic. I remember Sal Bando. I swear he played 3B with his chest. He should have worn a chest protector. But he'd pick those balls up and throw us out. Sano can do that too.
  17. I've said it before. Sano is most valuable at 3B. This is the time to work his tail off (If he is willing) to improve his 3B skills. (If he is not willing...trade him.) He may or may not improve his fielding, but I remember Trevor Plouffe and how an extra year playing 3B improved his performance. It could happen for Sano too.
  18. Rosario's batting average with runners in scoring position was .340 in 156 opportunities. Cruz was .368 in 108 opportunities. Garver was .344 in 61 opportunities. Polanco was .333 in 123 opportunities. Arraez was .327i n 55 opportunities. Kepler was .309'in 97 opportunities. also Cron was .299 in 107 opportunities. Gonzlalez was .298 in 94 opportunities. Adrianza was .295 in 44 opportunities. Buxton was .282 in 71 opportunities. Eddie more than held his own with the most opportunities. (Rocco, batting Eddie 4th all season was a good decision.) This stat alone makes my choice of Eddie Rosario as MVP.
  19. The Twins are not like the Astros. - They didn't deliberately tank any season's. - They haven't wasted prospects on Verlander type pitchers. -They didn't "cheat" like Houston did against the Cardinals. The Twins shouldn't be like the Astros. -They should continue to develop from within. -They shouldn't pay for overpriced Free Agents. -They SHOULD continue to develop from within. -They SHOULD use the winning atmosphere of the current TWINS to attract Free Agents to the Twins. -They SHOULD draw on the strengths of the Twin Cities lifestyle to attract players to playing for the Twins.
  20. If I want to play on the West Coast, Minnesota could write a blank check and I would ignore it, because I know that a West Coast team will also write a blank check. Sometimes, where you want to play is more important than how much money they will give you.
  21. I hope they keep Sano at 3rd. Work his tail off all winter. Play 3b during Dominican Ball. Help him lose more weight so that his playing weight is 250 lbs of muscle. He's quick and has a canon for an arm and he would be the best power hitting 3b in baseball. Its not the easy way to handle the situation, but the payoff would be bigger.
  22. I think back to the many wonderful memories the Twins have given us this year and I hope for one more before the season ends. We'll let tomorrow take care of itself.
  23. Arraez will be the next Luis Arraez. And that will make Twins fans very very happy.
  24. This tells me that Gibson will be offered a contract for next year...if he is healthy. This also tells me that Perez is not likely to be with us in 2020.
