  1. This was a sad day for all Baseball fans and particularly for the Kansas City Royals. Although he only faced the Twins twice in '16 , he will be missed by everyone.
  2. It has been proven that teams can go from worst to first. Why can't the Twins? An enormous number of things would have to go right. Mostly the pitching. But why can't Dozier be the cornerstone of the Twins hitting. He hits for power and he still has speed and he has more experience than the rest of the infielders. Keeping Dozier is a sign that the Twins have a chance to be a winning team in '17. And he's cheap
  3. I expect Buxton, if he is not moved to the top of the order, to be a 20HR, 252B,80R, 80RBI .275 hitter. But if they move him to one of the top 3 spots, I think the pressure will bring those numbers down. He is a small town guy, and he simply isn't used to being in the big spotlight. At least for 2017. Rosario may have personality flaws which may hold him back from fulfilling his potential. Its sad, because when he is paying attention he is a wonderful player. Kepler will be a fine player. I doubt that 2017 will be a breakout year, but I expect his overall numbers will improve if he gets the additional at bats. Grossman was a surprise to us all. In 2017 I expect that both his BA and defense will improve while maintaining a similar OBP. He will stay in Left field and take at bats from the other 3 outfielders by moving Rosario around the OF. Santana. Worst player on the Twins for 2 straight years. Can he make it 3 ?
  4. If I read one more article about the value of pitch framing, I think I will scream!!! Calling Balls and Strikes should be done by technology. Its almost 2017 for goodness sakes. There is no reason balls and strikes should be called the same way it was in 1917.
  5. Here's hoping that Rosario can be a fixture for the Twins in Left Field for the next 15 years.
  6. Luke Bard. He is back pitching. He has great bloodlines. Everyone has forgotten him. Sounds like a breakout candidate to me.
  7. Clap Clap Clap *Cheer* Hooray This needed to be said. and you didn't mention how his left-handedness throws hitters off their timing when facing our next pitcher (right-handed)
  8. options to screw things up. If Buxton isn't the Starting CF out of Spring Training, it will be Molitor's fault. These CF Options should be irrelevant.
  9. I think Duensing should get another year in the Twins bullpen. I think he is due for a healthy year in 2016 and will be better than most experienced relievers we could sign to a one or two year contract. He'll be worth the money.
  10. Good riddance to Hicks. I doubt if he will ever fulfill his "promise". I predict he will self destruct sooner rather than later. As for Murphy, we will see what we have once he starts playing for us. Twins fans are spoiled by so many years of outstanding catchers (AJ & Joe). Lets hope that Murphy can be an adequate placeholder until Turner or Garver are ready to take over.
  11. Park better be out of the Park We already have Sano, Arcia and AB Walker, what the heck do we need with another power hitter.
  12. I am so happy to rid of Hicks. and to get a catcher !! I am doubly overjoyed.
  13. Kubel & Bartlett could un-retire. That would make fro a wonderful reunion. Where is Baker, Slowey, Blackburn & Pavano ? Surely there is something left in those old arms ?
  14. During 2015, before a game, I never felt our starters were over matched. After living through 2011 - 2014, that was a significant improvement. Each of our 2016 Starter candidates has something positive to be said about them. The biggest problem that acquiring and Ace would do is that it could delay the progress of Duffey, Berrios and other pitchers coming up through the system. Nolasco's 4 year contract seemed a fair deal at the time. However, after 2 years of difficulties, the prospect of having Nolasco for 2 more years is not easy to After 2 years of limited success, the idea of pitching Nolasco instead of Duffey, Berrios or May os frustrating for Twins Fans. In my opinion, the Twins need to risk their future on the development of their young pitchers. Acquiring an Ace might help get the Twins into the post season, but no guarantees come with that.
  15. I'd replace Molitor with Gardy in a heartbeat. Sadly it will not happen.
  16. How lucky the Twins are. In almost all organizations, Max Kepler would be #1. With the Twins he is #3. The next few years are going to be fun fun fun.
  17. Navaretto at #20 means the Twins are almost tragically weak at the catching position.
  18. Right now the Twins have an abundance of Aces ... Ace Bandages. Lets wait and see who develops
  19. MVP - None of the above. This is about a team rising above their individual yearlong stats. Pitcher - None of the above. No consistency from any of them. Jepsom not here long enough. Rookie - Rosario only because he was here longer than Sano or Duffy Improved - Hicks. I hate this choice because I still am a Hicks hater (and will be next year too, unless he follows up with the same kind of numbers he had this year.)
  20. I like our hitters better than Kansas City;s . The pitching ... not so much.
  21. Never never ever go to the free market to get an established closer. The money they get is not worth it. Always try to get a guy that has the potential to close. The price is closer to right and he is in your BP if you need a closer. See Nathan. Rauch. Perkins. Jepsom.
  22. Oh yes. Just what the Twins need. A pitcher that broke his own thumb.
  23. and they have done this with a lousy manager and an average pitching coach. Thank God for Bruno!
  24. This is baseball. When you are hot...you are hot. The strength of the opposition can mean little... or not.
  25. When you follow a team, season after season, good seasons and bad, the small things become a big deal. We can all be thankful that the Twins have played interesting baseball this year regardless of the results. And after all ... is results really the only reason we are fans ?
