  1. No No No No No No ... a thousand times NO ! Let them go to a 4 man rotation first. There is no reason to give them an extra day off so that they lose their sharpness and control. NO NO NO NO NO!!!
  2. Watching May pitch, for me, is an exercise in holding my breath. I am never comfortable until he has made the 3rd out.
  3. I think Santana is more likely to be sent down to AAA than Polanco being promoted to AAA. The Twins have to figure out who their SS of the future will be.
  4. Perkins ! Only Perkins unless Dozier were to bat above 300 with 5 or more HR thru June.
  5. The Twins have had a bunch of games in a row where they scored first. When they get back to the normal routine of giving up first runs mixed with scoring first runs, it will be interesting to see how well they come back, after falling behind. Last year we learned to keep watching when the Twins fell behind. They never quit, even though they often fell far behind. Molitor commented on that "never quit" attitude and he counts on it to continue this year. If the Twins can establish a pattern of coming back to win those games about 1/2 the time, the Twins shouldl continue to play .500 + ball.
  6. Who is the best of the Minnesota kids, coming out of High School ?
  7. If the starters keep pitching as they have this past week, we have a good chance of watching the Twins win 90 games or more. I keep wondering what Ryan is being offered for one of them or Tommy Milone ?
  8. Would you look at Max Kepler !!! Someone to look forward to seeing in Target Field.
  9. Target Field is a great place to watch a ballgame and the 2015 Twins are an interesting team to watch. By the end of the summer, the fans should have returned if the Twins continue to play near .500 baseball. When September comes and we get a chance for a first glimpse of Buxton, Sano & Meyer Target Field could be filled to the rafters.
  10. Is this soon fixable ? Can Rosario stay up and play the OF while learning to lay off Out-of-the-strike-zone pitches ? Can he learn ? I've always read that Rosario is a natural hitter. Plate discipline is best learned at the MLB level. I hope he stays.
  11. I love it when Hicks makes a great catch or a clutch hit. I also hope he can be packaged in a good trade while his value is high. Let someone else deal with the inevitable slide into confusion and ineptitude as his motivation and enthusiasm wanes. (there;s a bunch of 3-4 syllable words for you
  12. I am a Hicks hater, but nobody wants him to succeed more than I do. I like what I've seen on the field and at the plate. However, we've all known guys like him... a guy with more talent and more physical tools than everybody else and who excels, even though they aren't making maximum effort. They always seem to find a way to sabotage their own success. I hope I am wrong. I hope he succeeds. and I hope the Twins make him part of a good trade unlike the way they fumbled Delman Young. Trade him while he is going good and let another team deal with him.
  13. You write a good column. Always interesting. Thanks.
  14. IN 2013 he didn't hit and wouldn't prepare himself for the days game. They sent him to AAA and didn't recall him in September. Last year he was futile at the plate, arrived late to at least one game. still didn't prepare himself was sent to AA and he decided to STOP switch hitting (which he had done all his life). Several weeks later Rod Carew convinced him to resume switch hitting. This is one VERY confused young man, Finally, this Spring Training he continued to be unprepared and not paying attention. I hope he hits so well that someone will trade for him. I hope he never again puts on a Twins uniform. Let he be someone else's problem.
  15. I always take the Twins seriously. After a win I watch the Twins postgame interviews and highlights and bask in the glow of their success. When the Twins lose, I immediately turn off TV, stomp around, rearrange my sock drawer, pay bills and do other unpleasant things, since things can't get worse. However, the difference is, in previous years I barely had hope approaching a game. I expected the Twins to be down 4-0 in the 3rd inning. Any other result was like flowers and green grass in the winter. This year, I approach each game with optimism. I expect Quality Starts and timely hitting. I think this will continue for the year. At least I hope so.
  16. Forget Hicks. He is a head case and an attitude problem Congratulations Eddie. I am looking forward to seeing what you can do.
  17. Hermann has done nothing to deserve demotion. Lets wait until Pinoto's power returns.
  18. i believe Vargas played with Sano and Polanco in Beloit and again with the Miracle. Now he has passed them up. I believe it was stated that when they moved Sano and Rosario to AA the comment was something like, "Now lets see what Vargas can do on his own." We are still seeing what Vargas can do without Sano and Rosario in the lineup, but I hope that will soon change.
  19. Pelfrey is throwing 93-94 in the 6th/7th innings, He's a starter, for sure.
  20. Great article. Not one mention of Hicks (thank God). Keep up the good work.
  21. Pelfrey was throwing 94mph pitches in the 7th inning. This could be the first of many fine performances. Pino, Walters and the rest never came close to that.
  22. According to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press, Ricky Nolasco will be making a rehab start in Cedar Rapids on Saturday. http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_27945723/minnesota-twins-ricky-nolasco-set-rehab-assignment?source=rss If it is successful, he should be returning to the Twins. Will he take his place in the rotation or will they put Nolasco in the bullpen? After Pelfrey's 7 innings of shutout pitching last night, all 5 of the current starters have had a quality start. If Molitor puts Nolasco in the rotation, who should Nolasco replace ?
  23. Since Molitor has decided to make Santana his SS, he needs to give him more time to smooth out his defensive lapses. However, he should be removed from the leadoff spot. Let Dozier lead off and bat Plouffe 4th. The Twins could live with that for a while.
