  1. I like his base running. I hate his lack of bunting ability.
  2. It seems that Ryan Eades should be on the list. He was a 2013 2nd round draft pick and has been pitching in Cedar Rapids. He has a terrible 5.82 ERA and he only has 83 K's in 102 innings, but this is his 1st full year of pro ball and looks like a gritty pitcher.
  3. Josmil Pinto has been cited as a catcher with deficient defensive skills, Since Thursday, July 17 (AAA All-Star Game break) Pinto has played 20 games. He has caught 12 times (60%). Including tonight's unfinished game. He has been the catcher when Darnell, Hamburger (2), Wheeler, Gilmartin & Meyer( 2) won games. These are some stats to think about as we look to our future catching prospects.
  4. Some stats research is too much for one person. How about a project that a group of people could participate in, Example: Make a list of all the top prospects of all teams playing in the minor leagues. This way, when Cedar Rapids plays Beloit, we can quickly see if the Beloit pitcher is highly rated and which hitters are regarded highly. This can allow TD to make a Series Preview for all minor league series and spotlight critical match-ups. This also will help when writing the post-game synopsis and make it less of a box-score recap. This information could be easily compiled by a group of people and then a few people could work together to keep it up to date.
  5. Based on their injury and recovery stats, Sano and Buxton should automatically be dropped significantly. Something is wrong with Rosario and he should not be on this list, based on this years stats. Where is Brett Lee ? Why isn't James Beresford and Deibinson Romero included ?
  6. thanks for the box scores in Schedyke, I think the top article every day should be the previous days Twins game. with box score and standings, Let somebody different write it each day. Lets see if we can discover some budding sportswriters
  7. I'd like to see the standings and box score of previous Twins Games. That way I would feel no need to check the Strib or PP for Twins game info.

    Why I Liked Bill Smith

This thread once more makes me thankful that Terry Ryan is our General Manager. (Which, I suspect is the true reason for making the thread.)
  9. Denard Span was a whole lot more of a player than we expected.
  10. Hicks needs to be in therapy. He switches from switch hitter to one way hitter and back to switch hitter in one season! He doesn't know his own mind and he doesn't have the confidence to face adversity.
  11. This is a warning for Joe Mauer. Tiger Woods withdraws from a Golf Tournament due to a back injury, Come back too soon OR don't do your back therapy OR don't do everyday things the right way = You will re-injure your back. We may have seen the last of the excellent Joe Mauer, baseball player.
  12. A back injury requires serious lifestyle changes to recover. Mauer needs to do the work necessary to prevent recurring pain. This may include changes to his batting stance and swing. A healthy Joe Mauer is always a Twins asset, regardless of what position he is playing.
  13. I hate that Logan Darnell gets a start tonight. I would hate the extra game between starts for Hughes and Gibson. Although I didn't like the signing of Correia and hated watching his labored starts. He is what was advertised. He was a solid #5 starter. Hughes, Gibson, Milone, Pino and Johnson is good enough. to finish it out. We just had 3 quality starts and one win against light-hitting KC. The problem is with the bats, not the arms.
  14. Thank you Parker. Your earlier article has strongly affected my attitude towards Suzuki this season. http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/kurt-suzuki-makes-changes-at-the-plate-r2553 Every season sees a couple older players rethink their batting approach and have continued success into their mid to late 30's. (see Cuddyer last year, time will tell how he will be after his injury.) Suzuki doesn't try to do too much. He has been a consistent bat at the back end of the Twins batting order. His ability to handle pitchers should not diminish with age. He can be a mentor to Pinto & Hermann. It is good for a young player to watch good catching as well as listening to the wisdom of the coaches. If Suzuki can maintain his better batting average and on base percentage he can also be an example for the young hitters as well.
  15. per K.Rosenthal & mlb.com = Suzuki stays
  16. Pino the catcher would kill the Twins starters if they can't trust that low breaking balls will be blocked or that runners will not be thrown out or that close pitches will not be framed properly. What will the Twins do for a catcher in 2015 ?
  17. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/mlb-trade-deadline-tracker--follow-all-the-deals-here-072337796.html This is another good place to keep track of what is the latest. yahoo trade tracker
  18. I'm staying on mlb channel all day. and staying in this chat. More laughs than Comedy Central
  19. Tommy Milone to the Twins for Fuld !!! That changes things for Meyer and May. This changes things for next year. Nolasco, Hughes, Gibson, Milone, Meyer, May not to mention Pelfrey, Pino & Johnson. Pinto gets a lot of AAA at bats as DH. Pinto the catcher may not be more than a backup. Pinto the DH may have to slug it out with Vargas.
  20. mlb channel says that a contract extension for Suzuki is highly possible.
  21. I am not pleased. The right sidebar used to be easy to use. If you wanted to read an article, you clicked it. Now there are multiple posts for the same article. You must click the bottom (small) "full topic" if you want to start from the beginning. Was this change necessary and/or helpful ? Not for those of us who are still challenged by our mouse. PS. Where are those threads that come from Trade Rumors ? Where is the link to "Pucket's Pond"?
  22. Mark this down. Hicks will be gone by ST 2015. He's is unreliable and only a personality transplant will save him.
  23. I don't agree with your contention that these experienced AAA are blocking our prospects. Our prospects have not yet proven themselves ready for AAA. A AAA City deserves a watchable team. The good people of Rochester aren't particularly interested in the Minnesota Twins. They do, however like to watch a competitive team. Sometimes these players spend several seasons with their team and that helps the fans take a rooting interest in the players and the team. Also, having a few veteran AAA players helps teach the young players how to prepare, how to cope and how to behave. Sometimes hearing something from a teammate can have more affect than hearing the same thing from a coach. This year there have been several comments about how helpful Pino was to the education of Meyer and May. Lastly, these experienced AAA players may be useful to the Twins. Who can tell what events may happen in the future. The Twins may need one of those players.
  24. I couldn't disagree more. Whether this is a 90 loss or 90 win season, fans love the idea that if the Twins have a chance to win a game, Perkins can come in and close it. This puts hope in our hearts and butts in the seats. Trading Perkins would send a terrible message to Twins fans everywhere.
