  1. We don't have our core of young players to build towards the future ?? C - Herrmann, Turner, Garver (Pinto) 1B - Vargas, Sano, Kepler (Plouffe) 2B - Polanco, D. Santana (Dozier) 3B - Sano (Plouffe) SS - E. Escobar, D. Santana OF - Trade Hicks (Yes, I am still a hater) Buxton, Rosario Kepler Arcia DH - All of the above SP - Gibson, Duffy, May, Milone, Berrios RP - Pick em all from the minors Is that not a young core ?
  2. Keep them all. Don't trade any of them. Get MLB to wave the Rule 5 for the Twins and to allow 12 batters in a game... just for the Twins, mind you...so we can find a way to play Santana Vargas, Arcia and Kepler in our everyday lineup. That would be the perfect way to find out whats up .
  3. I'm happy. and I am happy to be happy.
  4. Since when did baseball want to sound like a Tennis match ? but I would ditch the organ music forever lets hear it for the French Horns
  5. MVP - None of the above. This is about a team rising above their individual yearlong stats. Pitcher - None of the above. No consistency from any of them. Jepsom not here long enough. Rookie - Rosario only because he was here longer than Sano or Duffy Improved - Hicks. I hate this choice because I still am a Hicks hater (and will be next year too, unless he follows up with the same kind of numbers he had this year.)
  6. I am thankful for Dick's enthusiasm every time I listen to another teams announcers. He makes you pay attention if your mind has wandered away from the immediate play.
  7. I like our hitters better than Kansas City;s . The pitching ... not so much.
  8. An outstanding player on many, many HS or American Legion teams pitches and plays SS. Naturally most of them would move to other positions as they mature and the competition gets stiffer.
  9. This is the most depressing thread we have had in a long time. We are unlikely to get value for any of the players we trade. We are not likely to find a competent catcher. We have a glut of starting pitchers and outfielders and the middle infielders are all of similar promise. What to do ? What to do ?
  10. the only Nolasco we know is the gloomy guy with arm problems. and you want to change our perceptions now ? What a crazy year.
  11. Now I have a tough decision. If this happens. Which bridge am I going to jump off of...
  12. Nolasco !!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
  13. I have enjoyed this year tremendously, but I find that I am not "rooting" for the Twins to make the playoffs. I am watching without expectation or hope. Yes, I know that if the Twins become a Wild Card Team, there is hope that they could go to the World Series. Once in the World Series anything can happen. I know that but I don't hope for it. I watch. I watch and see what happens. The Twins fall behind in a game. They tie it. Then they lose it. I hate losing to the Tigers (or the ChiSox or Indians or Royals) and I particularly hate losing in extra innings. I was watching with interest but without expectation. And tonight I will do the same and will continue to do it until the Twins season is over. Does that make me a bad Twins fan ?
  14. Never never ever go to the free market to get an established closer. The money they get is not worth it. Always try to get a guy that has the potential to close. The price is closer to right and he is in your BP if you need a closer. See Nathan. Rauch. Perkins. Jepsom.
  15. Oh yes. Just what the Twins need. A pitcher that broke his own thumb.
  16. and they have done this with a lousy manager and an average pitching coach. Thank God for Bruno!
  17. No. Molitor is incompetent. May was trending up when he was sent to the Bullpen. .
  18. Pelfrey's good game certainly confuses the situation. We must hope he continues. I believe the rule of thumb is that a developing pitcher should not increase his innings by more than 20 %. In '14 Duffy pitched 149.2 innings. Add 20% (30 inn) to that and you have 180 innings. So far this year Duffy pitched 52.2 in Chat and 85.1 in Roch for a total of 138 innings. Add to that the 32.1 he has pitched with the Twins and you have a total of 170.1 innings so far. If he has 2 decent 6 inning starts he will have reached his innings total. Skipping this start is prudent. If Hughes comes back, moving Duffy to the bullpen would also be a prudent decision.
  19. His Minor League totals are a .340 OBP . I don't think we will need to worry about that.
  20. Camera's and Computers can determine what a players strike zone is at any part of the pitch. If they want to choose the time before the pitch or the time when the batter "loads". I personally would choose the time when the batter loads, because that would change the least regardless of his batting stance.
  21. We have computers. They can tell the difference between a tall batter and a short batter. Once a players strike zone has been established, it makes no difference if he changes his stance. He must own his personal strike zone.
  22. I love the result. Hate the process. The KC Royals got screwed...not that I care.
  23. This is a poor excuse for the "human element". Technology can establish each individual's strike zone in spring training. A player's strike zone does not vary from game to game, There is absolutely no reason for balls and strikes to be left to the "human element". Hitters still have to hit and pitchers still have to pitch. Let there be an accurate and unbiased call of the balls and strikes.
  24. Every game is interesting. The Twins are playing against long odds. Ain't it fun ?
