The season just looks better & better.

All trades involve risk. Let us pray.

Walker might become an effective pitcher again, but I wouldn't look for him to do it before June, the same time that we get Pineda back. Still, it would be a good signing.

Zips. Schnips. Lets just play the games and find out.

Let me put in a vote for Michael Cuddyer. I feel he could become a star. Some Perkins appearances would be fun also. As for Mauer, I doubt he could show his joy for the game and his enthusiasm for game that he actually feels. Some people just can't emote.

For the last 35 years I have been enamored by the "Runs Produced" stat. (Runs + RBI- HR). They have fiddled with it some, but it still works. In this century I started paying attention to OBP. It helped me appreciate Joe Mauer.

Overall I'd rate this offseason as a C+ . The pitching gets a C+ for retaining Jake, Big Mike & Romo. Otherwise there is much to be negative about. The hitting grade gets only a C+ from me because, although Donaldson has been a great hitter, he is 34 years old and we hardly need another bat. Maybe Cruz van teach him a few tricks on how to hit past 35, but that seems to be a rare talant.

GREAT NEWS !!! My Sano jersey will be good for 2 more years.
  10. Thegrin
I suspect this will be Sano & Berrios attitude whenever a long term deal is offered.

In my seldom humble opinion, a Designated Hitter needs to have transcendent stats to gain the HoF. Cruz has been very very good, but not transcendent.

I love playing Rookies if they can hit. A hate playing Rookies when they make base-running mistakes or throw to the wrong base. If I was a high impact starting pitcher and looked at the Twins defense, I'd probably find somewhere else to play (all things being equal). Play the Rookies ? Give them a try, if they seem mature enough to handle it, otherwise let them continue to learn in the minors. After all, there must be a reason they've done it that way all these years.

Until Buxton proves he can handle the #3 position, they should bat Buxton either 1st or last. Let his speed come just before our best hitters.

Twins need an assistant pitching coach ? What happened to Everyday Eddie ?
  15. Thegrin
All we can do is wait and hope or trade his "flawed swing" for a pitcher and wait for him to come back and haunt us.
  16. Thegrin
We better not trade Sano to Texas or anybody else. I invested in a Sano jersey on my last visit to Target Field and I want to get at least one more year of use out of it.
  17. Thegrin
The trade made sense at the time. It was obvious the Twins weren't going anyplace....Woops. Wrong again. The Twins made the playoffs.
  18. Thegrin
it looks like a stabilizing move to me. Oops ! Someone already said that. Please disregard this post.

No matter what we do, there will be some fans who will not be satisfied. After all, fan is short for fanatics.
  20. Thegrin
Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. Cole would be bad juju for the Twins.
  21. Thegrin
I am happy. Very very happy.
  22. Thegrin
I hope they make a deal for Cron and then use him as trade bait.
  23. Thegrin
OMG Can't anybody spot sarcasm any more ??
  24. Thegrin
I want Big Mike back. I don't care about the suspension. Those rules are obscure and archaic and outmoded. They are culturally bias'd and sporadically enforced. Outside of that, there is nothing wrong with getting suspended by MLB. Where have you gone, Barry Bonds, now that we need you?

I am thankful to God for the many blessings that we receive. About midsummer I decided that this was the most fun the Twins had given us in years. I am thankful for that, despite how it ended. It was a wonderful summer of baseball.
