  1. KISS Forget all the extra words to make oneself feel smart. You could do it the PECOTA way....... which uses lots more words, made up stats, and at the end of the season they are not usually that close at all, anyway.
  2. Buxton seems to have forgotten it is ST. No need to take that kind of chance at the wall. Smarten up, Byron. One catch is not worth being out of the lineup. Good to see some starters and 26 man roster players getting in games. Did you see Max Scherzer pitches 5 innings, 72 pitches and 55 strikes yesterday. Talk about ready. Our guys need work, but haven't even been playing in the games! And not scoring runs. Not hitting much either.
  3. Since the trade deadline last summer.... Pitching worse. Which was already bad. Shortstop lots better. Catching way worse. Third base worse. Prospects? They mean nothing until and if they make the MLB team better. 3 worse, one better. Hmmmmm. Pitching is the need. Pitching. Pitching.
  4. Nobody ever really knows the budget limit.
  5. Best article I have found/read about the deal. Some new no trade clause info, too..... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/twins-sign-carlos-correa.html
  6. Does this mean it's not cool to boo him anymore because he wears a different uniform?
  7. I guess Twins' fans don't really care about cheaters, and welcome them when it suits. I should know, as I am one. I hope Correa performs to his best level, and he should be motivated, as he is really looking for the long term deal. Probably a 1 season Visitor. I hope he and Buxton have a 2022 that makes it tough to decide who gets the vote for 2022 MVP. Personally, I would rather have had the $ spent on top of the line pitching, Story, kept Garver, no Sanchez, no proud cheaters, and am happy to not have Pineda available. But I encourage Pohlad to spend that money, and have some fun before he dies. It is only money, and one can only really use so much. May as well compete with the Mets and Dodgers and spend. Montas was a PED suspended pitcher (80 days, June 2019, for Osterine - which, of course, was a mistake as they all say), too. It seems character is not so important for the clubhouse, or fans, after all. I don't really mind. It should make for an interesting season, and much more anticipated than yesterday. I still don't believe it. I'll check in the morning to see if it is still true that Correa is the new shortstop.
  8. Can't read this. Thinking about our catching situation makes me sick.
  9. Thanks for this analysis. It looks even worse than I had supposed. And you didn't even get to what the liabilities are when he is catching! Garver for Sanchez. Yuk.
  10. We? Just an example. Check all you want. It will just confirm it. (The link shows all the divisions for 2021. Plenty more right there for starters. Braves, Giants, Padres, Diamondbacks, Cubs, Cardinals, Mets, Red Sox, Angels, Mariners, Nationals, Rays..... about half the predictions not even close...... ) I find the best way to check predictions is to see how they compare to the actual result. I don't even need math, then. Example: 200 negative PED tests, and just one positive, and all credibility and a trip to the HOF is lost,...... I can't keep up with all the arguers "rules". My comment. My rules. I promise I won't tell you how to comment.
  11. PECOTA is just more clickbait. Let's see how their projections came out from last year to check credibility....... https://www.mlb.com/news/2021-pecota-projections-breakdown AL Central Actual Twins: 91-71 (61% odds to win division) 73-89 Indians: 86-76 (25%) 80-82 White Sox: 83-79 (13%) 93-69 Royals: 71-91 (1%) 74-88 Tigers: 67-95 (0%) 77-85
  12. Perhaps for you. I thought it suggests that people change their minds...... if given enough time. Sometimes in a day. Sometimes in a week. Sometimes in a month, and sometimes in a year. Berrios had 1 1/2 years to do it, and did it in quick order. His agent most likely did the messaging. I know quite a few married couples that said no at first, too. It is fact that Berrios did sign an extension, instead of testing the free agent market in a year and a half as he said he was going to do, in pretty quick order, so speculate all you want.
  13. I said what I said. Read it again if you are missing the point. I am not addressing the ease of a job, then or now.
  14. It seemed Colome was worth at least 15 loses, though.
  15. Didn't want a new fake Berrios. Wanted Jose, who, regardless of how his agent negotiated, was willing to sign a fair extension.
  16. Many could do the job. Getting the job is as much luck as it is skill, many times. The ones commenting..... many are lifelong Twins' fans. They really do care. Even when Falvey and Levine....... visitors here, blow up the team for hope of fame and glory. Yes, they are paid. But $ is the only thing making them love the Twins right now. Total Visitors. They will leave at one point, when they are done playing fantasy baseball with the Twins and they have failed so badly that they can't get another similar job, or even if they will have succeeded for a spell and leave for more money, and not care a bit about our team as they move on.
  17. Not too unusual, especially if Baldelli is managing for this FO. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2019/1/30/18202907/starting-catchers-disappearing-realmuto-posey-molina-grandal-red-sox-royals-marlins-diamondbacks
  18. What catchers? The only guy that is probably happy is Jeffers. But ST needs like 7 catchers. Are you ready to start seeing Sano and Sanchez start their quest for record strikeouts?
  19. Miranda: 30 homers and 32 doubles is a 55? I don't get it.
  20. Seriously. We got NOTHING for Garver! And now can't, no matter how you try to twist it..
  21. Fun? How about #5? Falvey has no clue, and he admits it. ""I expect to take advantage of it for sure," Falvey said. "Exactly how that plays out, short term, long term, medium term, I don't know. Obviously, it clears a lot off next year as well. ... We're going to have to roll with the punches a little bit and figure out what we can add over the next few weeks leading into Opening Day." 5 years and still trading for pitching........ because none are ready from the farm.........................
  22. "The addition of Sonny Gray is enough to convince even the most skeptical fan that the Twins are looking to compete in 2022." I, for one, do not expect a lot out of a fading Gray. He is a starting pitcher, though. A dreaded "innings eater" at this point. Hope the team hits when he is on the mound. And then there was the trade with the Yankees......... even less convinced.
  23. that was a quote...... not my link. it was glunn's. But they did get Gray, who is not a stud in my opinion, just a fading filler that costs too much. But he is something.
