Maybe Twins’ fans don’t deserve good pitchers. When they have one, so many just want to trade them for prospects anyway, and love to trash them as if it happens all the time after an anomaly performance. Sanchez and Skenes might not be good enough, either.

I wish our guys would hit like that when balls are ”left in the middle of the plate.” We get mostly foul balls. One of the homers was hit on a pitch about a foot above the zone! Middle of the plate, though. Even if Ryan would have pitched 4 shutout innings, the pen would have lost the game 5-4.

Managers, front offices, writers , and fans all like to point out “series wins” as a benchmark of good sold play and team improvement, and it is. But that takes months to correct for even being just 8 games under .500. Then the Twins lose just the first series in the last six, and they are still 2 games under .500. Meanwhile, winning streaks by the Red Sox and Orioles, and a 24-14 stretch by the Tigers make 2-1 series wins quite unspectacular. This team needs this years 12 game winning streak, and right now. 2-1 series wins, while always welcome, are quite unspectacular comparatively, and will not cut it with just 62 games to play. And no more defensive and base running clown shows like the last two games.

And The Miz really isn’t that good. It just seems the games he pitches the other teams decide not to get any hits.

He is giving Lee a double but ideally ending the play with the bases loaded and no outs. Lee cannot end up on second for that to happen. If PCA catches that sinking liner, Caratini has a good chance of getting doubled off at first, as he was basically all the way to second already. Whatever happened at third with the coach’s interaction with Bell is separate from Lee assuming second base would be open. All together the play became a clown show. The trailing runner has to be aware of the path ahead. The lead runner can’t go full out until the ball is caught or not. In the end, another group effort Clown Show to end a game. The way that play developed, there was a lot of instantaneous decisions to be made, and all involved had to keep their circle of awareness about them as a unified team. Adding base runners and not making outs was the most important strategy on this play. More important than scoring, on this play. Scoring 4 or 5 in the ninth was still a highly unlikely event, as we all know how well these Twins do with the bases loaded and no outs. It would have been fun to find out, though, with the tying run that has already homered twice coming to the plate with no outs. Also would have been nice if the Twins would’ve had some offense other than Kody and Bradley would have pitched better, too.

Hard to believe MLB players can do what this team just did. Bell has to hold up ther to make sure the ball is not caught. All runners behind him have to be aware of the whole play.

Do you think that ABS as it is even now, is better than humans? I mean, they use it for challenges to over ride human guesses. So do you wait for it to be even better (3D, which will happen soon either way, maybe even next year), or always use the best option as time goes by, and always work to improve that? We constantly see the umps even missing the 2D calls. I contend we will see them miss even more 3D if that is how it gets rolled out. Always best tool available as soon as possible for me.
