  1. Winkel's BA, SLG & OPS go up at each level. Gotta like the trend.
  2. If these guys can tear up AAA they could become very valuable trade chips at the deadline. Unlikely roster additions here, given our depth of IFs.
  3. This is not good (well, maybe not all bad for Varland). DeSclafani needs to show up like his 2021 self and he could be a real asset. I agree with weneedneshek. This seldom bodes well.
  4. Impressive article. Thank you for laying the data out like this. Don't let the pitcher get too comfortable. Makes sense, but I had never thought of it. Very interesting.
  5. Hey RpR - thanks for posting these. It is appreciated.
  6. If the the Twins can help DeSclafani return to his 2021 self he is going to surprise and delight all of us. Best case scenarios. Gotta love 'em.
  7. I absolutely believe in, and am counting on, a return to exceptional for Correa. His leadership and performance in the playoffs last year are the reasons he is worth the king's ransom the Twins are paying him.
  8. I always liked Kike, but this would be nothing more than blocking our own talent. He has had 1 year in the last half decade where his OPS+ was greater than 87. Don't see a value here.
  9. There's something very wrong with you, Stu. I like that in a person.
  10. Can't help you. But I admire your effort to see places that have quite possibly affected our Twins.
  11. Small Sample Size? Brings to mind the old question: "Should Ernie Banks be omitted from the Hall of Fame because he never played in a World Series?"
  12. Well written. Thank you. An encouraging article about our coaching staff and Varland. Hope he is able to command his new pitch mix. Go Twins!
  13. Minimizing wind resistance could lead to a dramatic increase in stolen bases. Hopefully our hit-by-pitch numbers go up. Hmm. There may be a flaw in my logic.
  14. Unfortunately the Bally deal, at about 85% of last year's revenue, is the best they could do. Surely they had people working on this for months. What did they have going on that was more important? This suggests that revenue will fall again next year. This does not look good for the future of our favorite team. If you see something different please enlighteni me. I'd love to hear a different tune.
  15. Nice post. I believe that positive energy has an impact. Great comments from Pablo regarding C4.
  16. They had to have some conversations with multiple media outlets. It's sounding like no one was offering as much as they expect to get from Bally. This bodes poorly for the future.
  17. As one of the cheapest bullpens in MLB they might be the best value. Not a bad thing.
  18. First thing I looked at was his FIP. It was 4.2 last year. Then I noticed that his ERA has been lower than his FIP every year he's pitched over 5 innings. Twice by a significant margin. And gotta love that WHIP. A strong bullpen is a really good thing. Seems like a good signing.
  19. My initial reaction is "No". On the other hand, our dearth of starting pitchers who look ready to step up from the minors to MLB are why I'm very much against moving Varland to the bullpen. Duran showed an effective couple of pitches other than his fastball last season. I don't believe it will happen, but you propose an interesting idea.
  20. I certainly understand, CRF. I'm far more comfortable with the idea of Buxton in CF this year than I was last year. Why? Am I just drinking 🍸 the kool-aid?
  21. This very well may be true. Our number of starting pitchers is pretty low, however. We could certainly use some depth. Not one of the players signed from the cast-off crew looks promising. Looking at their stats they are all long shots to be a positive boost to any MLB team. Frustrating. This is an unusual path toward success.
  22. It was fun talking to people around the country who were baseball fans. He got a lot of attention. I remember that the Dakota folks and Iowa folks were embracing the Twins that year. Pretty sure Mauer had a lot to do with that.
  23. Babe Ruth was the original. It is a tribute to Shohei that we have to go all the way back to Babe Ruth to find someone who dominated like Ohtani does.
  24. I think the only way you pry Luzardo away is by taking Alcantara (and the money owed him) while also paying a high price in prospects. Meyer is also included only if Miami believes he will never be particularly successful again. I'd go Lee or Julien plus Rodriguez. I suspect Miami says no.
