  1. Great seeing Polonco getting game ready. Should be back in what, a few days? Or a week? On a related note, does anyone know anything about how Kirilloff is doing? Fantastic seeing Prielipp pitching in a game. Looked at the recap and saw he had mostly ground ball outs the first two innings. Seemed to tire a bit in the third before getting into trouble in the fourth. Also great seeing Miller with a multi hit game. That's two in a row, right? Must admit I did not recall ever hearing Zebby's name, although I must have seen it when he was drafted. Let's hope he is a good one.
  2. Great seeing Winder on the mound in Fort Myers. Two years ago this kid was as good as anyone in the organization. Hopefully, moving to the pen will be the answer and he will be healthy the rest of this year and beyond. In my opinion, he is the one that could be better than someone destined to the back end of the pen. Could see him developing along the lines of Jax.
  3. Thanks, Sherry. The highlite for my read this morning is that Connor Prielipp is making his first professional start tonight. Got my fingers crossed that this kid is special. Just have to wait for the results to confirm. Great seeing Varland pitch so well first time out. Is it possible that he could be the first starter called up if/when needed? Also great seeing Miller with a couple hits. Anyone that plays D as well as he supposedly does just needs to be an average hitter to be a valuable Twins starter someday. Hopefully, this will be the year his bat breaks out. Also love how Lee and Julien's bats are beginning the year hot, very hot.
  4. Yes, that was fantastic news a few days ago. I may be wrong, but seemed that the kids at the lower levels will be doubling their earnings, or more. Saw that they now will be getting paid year-round. Curious how that will work. Will it be the same pay in winter as when they are playing? Or will it be higher during the season? Add me to those who noted that Miller was at short, Salas at third and Cavaco at first. And congrats to Enlow making their opening day start.
  5. Thanks, Seth. Recall that the Twins signed three catchers this winter to MiLB contracts, all of whom had a fair amount of big league time. I believe Wolters is with the Saints, but no mention of the other two since spring training. They weren't listed in St. Paul and aren't here. Are they still in the organization? Or did they have opt outs and are gone?
  6. Nice clean inning from Schulfer. Have a feeling he is going to help the Twins pen before the year is over. Expect Dobnak will get his control in check and 5 walks won't be the norm. He has an interesting contract that should keep him in the system for several years. Question is, will he be back with the Twins?
  7. Thanks a ton, Seth. Expect the Saints are going to wish they were still on the road next week, it's going to be cold. Couple technical questions. What exactly is the Development List? And not counting the development list guys, I count 28 players. Is that the max roster size this year? Also see 7 starting pitchers. With six game series and Monday as their standard day off, will they be using a six man starting rotation? Looking back at that prospective Dozier trade, unbelievable what happened to that duo. But I guess that is the reality of the sport, no one knows what tomorrow may bring for these young prospects.
  8. Another great summary and read, Nick, thanks. I am of the opinion that the Twins success this year will be tied to three players returning from injury. Will Buxton be in the lineup (CF or DH) for at least 130 games? Will AK return from his late start by May and be the player most of us expect? And will Lewis return by July 4th and be the player we briefly saw last summer? Don't know where Royce will play, but he could be a huge shot in the arm for this team. Answer all three of these questions with a yes and this team just may go a long way come the fall.
  9. I would add a fourth, Cody. And that is a stat line that didn't exist, the one from Kirilloff. In my opinion, he can be the best player of this group. The Twins need him to get 100% comfortable with his wrist and then get back to the big club no later than the end of April. They then need him to remain healthy all season and hit like we all believe this young man can.
  10. How long will it be before Sands goes to St. Paul, Maeda moves to the pen for long relief and Ober is in the starting rotation? Hopefully, not too long. Until then, the Saints are going to have one heck'of'a starting rotation.
  11. Will again ask my question from the day this was announced. Does anyone know if the Twins sold their minority interest in the Saints? Or did they retain that with the new majority owners?
  12. Also, no mention of Julien. Isn't he supposed to have a lot of speed?
  13. Thanks for a great review of this year's pen, Nick. Will we see Duran used like last year, ie, not strictly a closer but coming in anytime to put out a fire? Am thrilled with what I am seeing from Alcala after his first outing or two. If he can return like the dominant reliever we expect, WOW! Bloody shame that Canterino will miss another year. Will it be all year? Or is it possible he is back before the season ends? Regardless, he won't help the Twins this year, but hopefully, next. The one pitcher who got a mention in your projections, but not later is Danny Coulumbe. I could see him have a positive effect on this bullpen, even if he isn't on the roster next Thursday.
  14. Curious why Em Rodriguez isn't on this list? Also, Mercedes. Didn't he hit better than Acuna in last summer's DSL? Do recall that Acuna was batting .100 something the first few weeks of the season, then tore the cover off the ball the rest of the year.
  15. Thanks, Ted, for a great read. Every time I see one of these I get more impressed with who this young man is. With God's blessing, maybe he finally will get his chance to be healthy and play for a long time. Hopefully, his entire career will be with the Twins. Only question that no one has answered is where he will play. All we know is that barring injury to Correa, it won't be shortstop. Like many of us, I am guessing it will be at second or third with Lee playing the other. Don't know what that means for Miranda? Or Polonco and Julien?
  16. Won't talk about the pitchers, rather the infield. It is likely that AK will begin the season either on the IL or at St. Paul. The season starts a week from Thursday, just doesn't seem like he has the time to get enough at bats against MLB pitching to be ready. Then there is Polonco. He hasn't played in a game, even on the back fields that I have heard of. So he is definitely on the IL on opening day. Will he be ready in a few weeks? Month? More? Then we have our third infielder, Miranda. I know he has played a lot at DH, But has he been in the field in any game? If he isn't ready to play in the field next Thursday, will he be on the roster. Probably will, but not playing in the field. So it is likely that three-quarters of their infield won't be ready to play in the field come opening day. I know a lot of you are talking about Julien. Yup, this situation could get him with the Twins come opening day. But there is another guy who has been having a hell of a spring, Willi Castro. And he has played a lot at third base. Could he be the surprise name on the 26-man come next week?
  17. Wasn't going to comment, but seeing no one has wanted to get the conversation started. Good recap, Nick. My only question is: What is the over/under for how many DH's the Twins will play during the 2023 season? Will throw my guess into the ring, 11.
  18. Thanks. If they don’t extend Gray or Mahle, we may see them use two.
  19. Interesting topic. Question, are there any limitations on how many QO a team can offer? I think the franchise tag in football is limited to one per season, can a MLB team offer multiple QO's? As for Mahle, Maeda and Gray, I sincerely hope the Twins extend one of these guys so they have excellent starting rotations in future years.
  20. Thanks, Nick. Have said since the day they announced the 'shift' change that Max will be a different player in 2023. Looking for him to have a fantastic year, both in the field and at the plate.
  21. As Gordon seemed to struggle year after year in the minors, mostly due to injury, he became an afterthought for me. Certainly was surprised last year when he announced he belonged in the big leagues. Expect he will be a valuable part of the Twins for several years to come. Great having guys that are solid at more than one or two positions. Huge fan of Ober and expect he will not be the sixth best starter come opening day, especially if his heater stays at 93. Don't have a clue how they are going to handle that. Should be interesting watching this staff. Have also been a Jax fan since drafted. Someone going thru any of the service academies is better prepared for life than most of us. Having a pitcher on the mound who has trained for combat, I have always expected the results would come and expect he will take another step forward in 2023.
  22. Great news from DeLeon, but let's remember it was against Israel. Question, Seth. Do you know if his MiLB contract has an opt out date? Hopefully not and he will be available to be called up when needed. And yes, the Saints should have one hell of a team....starting pitching, outfield, and infield with three vet catchers.
