  1. Yeah, we just need to hold the next CES back in the minors and possibly trade him away so we can overpay the next Joey Gallo rehab project. Puke.
  2. @Doctor Gast I still a bit salty about Carigg not being drafted by the FO.
  3. What Farmer brings to the Twins is hard to buy. We got a great deal to get him here and it should take an even better deal to part ways with him. Lee is ready for the show so I do understand if the FO shops Farmer around. Polo is a foundation of this team so I see him on the team as an aging infield rotation player. I can see a team, even the Dodgers paying to have Farmer on the team as an insurance policy. I would be screaming to keep him if it weren’t for the fact that we have Castro and Polo with Lee and Martin ready and waiting.
  4. Lopez can certainly end up a Cy Young. A dozen more starts that take him thru the 7th inning get him there. A lot goes into a pitcher consistently going 7 innings and completing controlling those games. The kid is a stud and he is obviously committed to being the best of the best.
  5. Carmargo is still bat first but defensive skills are coming strong. Once Vasquez moves on, we will have an awesome catcher tandem! Vasquez will likely only catch 50-65 games in 2024 so his bat should rebound when he is in the lineup. Is $10M to expensive? Heck no!!! His experience is well worth that contract!! If Carmargo makes big strides in 2024 and we are rolling to a deep playoff run in 2024, we could trade Vasquez next offseason but this year? No way!!!
  6. Raising the ceiling. 1. Buy another ace SP 2. Bring up Martin and Lee to get on base and score runs. by incorporating more young studs with low salaries allows the FO to buy that guy up top in #1. Eventually our farm system will produce another ace SP. right now Varland has a shot at it. He has the heat. If he can hone a devastating offspeed combo, he could be the guy. This post is my fav in quite awhile! Great insight from everyone!!
  7. @Riverbrian if next year we had Castro as a 4th outfielder(super utility) and Polanco and Farmer as the backup infielders, we would have a very strong roster. Assuming AK comes back healthy and raking in June, we also have adequate 1st base platoon coverage. If Lee wins a job in training camp, we will be absolutely stacked with young talent!
  8. 1. No failed trades like Mahle’s. 2. Be patient with young talent. 3. Don’t sign or trade for guys in the downslope of their career.
  9. Jeffers is undervalued. No way he gets traded.
  10. 💯!! Gordon will likely be in a package trade. I think Ortega clears waivers and goes across the river. Stevenson also.
  11. I would be shocked if a young core player or top prospect is traded. An aging player or say Larnach type or any given prospect out if the too 15.
  12. The whole buy a big time 1st basemen isn't going to happen. We even have too many internal options to discuss at this point. Polo and Julien can back up anyone that wins the job in spring training. Likely candidates will be Miranda and Severino. Now go out and get a front line SP.
  13. Exactly zero of those 6 will be traded. Add in Duran, Paddock, Erod and a few more that are off limits. The F.O. is building from within and making a big trade about once every 10 months. The next trade will involve getting a top SP.
  14. At some point we have to either extend their contracts or trade them. I would bet that both are on the team in April but not necessarily in September.
  15. With Castro going into his age 27 season. Would it make sense to sign him to a 3 yr contract With a 4th and 5th yr option to pay him more upfront but be a foreseeable 5 yr bargain? Everyone knows Kep, Polo, Gordon and TL will be dangled as trade chips. Might be several trades between Jan and the deadline late summer. When you evaluate the farm, there is at least 1 replacement for every position in the next two seasons so it may be best to stock up on the one thing there is never enough of. Pitching.
  16. I would hope to get a no on the QO. We get the draft pick and the Maeda signs a 2 yr deal with a team option on year 3. He gets you 1.5WAR both years as a 24 start guy at the back end of the rotation. Paddock will be lights out next year in his 28 starts. I honestly think there will only be 3 teams going after Gray and he may not be happy about the offers he gets. Its will be interesting if Kuekel signs a minor league deal with us. He seems to really like it around here. A few spot starts from the guys across the river won’t hurt much if we can kill the other elephant in the room. All the strike out!!
  17. I would go with the youth movement this off season. We are stacked in the upper minors with guys that can make the jump to MLB as needed. Mat and Farmer wont be needed. They are marginal aging role players. We also have a bunch of “fluff” as stated earlier. In the past, we have not added many players via rule 5. Is this the year we find a hidden gem? Probably not. Out of the list above, there are at least 6 guys that I would protect and expect them to be AAAA in 2024. Chances are that someone will blow out an arm, knee or shoulder by April so we should have plenty of room to protect the youth from rule 5. Please, PLEASE don’t sign aging FA’s to clog up the 40 man. Go fast, young and exciting!!!
  18. He has to play somewhere in the field. DH did not work out at all. I’m holding out hope the CF is still his spot but 1B isn’t a horrible idea.
  19. Somehow, some way, we may just steal game #1 and that will make the stros gamble too much in game #2. That leads to mistakes and all of a sudden, we are coming home up 2-0. Pablo May pitch into the 8th…. Chasing a no no.
  20. Varland is throwing 100mph smoke with multiple offspeed pitches. whenever he matches up well against the next couple guys in the lineup, he will be called on just like every other bullpen arm.
  21. If you aren’t writing a paycheck, you have an opinion that matters exactly zero as to how much a player makes in pro sports. It’s negotiable via union, agent and ownership set up via antitrust legislation. Shut up and watch the show. Carlos gets his money and we the fans get entertainment. The cost of a cold beer at the stadium is rediculous tho.
  22. So we are about 7 years in to this FO but not even 1year into the generational change of the ownership in charge. CEO if you will. I believe that the decisions of the FO in the past year have changed with the priorities of ownership and their decision making. I’m not teal smart but I love to look at the big picture, but I am a details guy in real life. Years ago, someone made a choice to draft Cavaco over Carrol. One might say it was $$$ related, one might say, we are all human and prone to mistakes. One might say 14 months ago the FO sold out the farm to buy a shot at the playoffs and maybe to save their jobs. Im just saying that the decision making has been a bit better lately….. and someone should roster Buxton and tell him to relax, have some fun and hit the damn ball.

  24. I’m right behind you in that line. Pick up his option and maybe extend it a couple years. at worst we have the best 4th outfielder in baseball as Kep ages like a fine wine.
