  1. He will be in the show in ‘24. Probably wont be huge impact but we need obp guy(s). He and Castro can spell Buck in CF. As long as he has a productive role, the Twins and Martin will deliver some fun ball games. Steal some bases snd score some runs. We need that.
  2. Alcala has the best shot at being something special this year. He is healthy and full of confidence. Balazovich…. 98% chance of crash and burn but never say never. He might actually be on the opening day roster. Sands and Winder are in the same options river taxi. …. Unless one or both decide that MLB is the place to be. I’m betting on them getting the taxi rides. In an emergency break glass… Randy Dobnak Those AAA FA signings will look real good in Saints uniforms. Maybe one will call Dobbers for an uber ride across the river.
  3. But we are replacing Taylor with Buxton. Gray needs to be replaced by 8/1. Farmer, Castro and Vasquez are still here. Maeda is replaced by Paddack. Donnie barrels can be replaced from within by about 7 different players. Keep throwing bodies at the wall until someone replaces Donnie…. It wont be hard to do. Our farm system has plenty of guys to fill a hole or two. I haven’t even mentioned all the other guys coming off significant injuries that will likely have positive progression which will offset any regression. This is not the year that the FO is going to waste $10+M on FA failures.
  4. So last year we didn’t have Buxton as a right handed bat in the OF all year long but this year he is going to be out there. So thats taken care of. Unless you want a 30 something year old RH guy that is on the down slope. I would take my chances with Buxton, Castro and about 3 guys in the minors. Chances are best that those 5 guys can hold down CF better than last year. I agree that we should find another front line starter but we have until the trade deadline in July so lets just exercise some patience on that one. The infield doesn’t need anyone from outside the organization. We have depth. The bullpen is the bullpen. Guys will come and go like they always do. No reason to discuss that either until the FO actually makes a deal, then we can pick it apart or congratulate them. It will probably bring some high fives and equal amounts of hand wringing. Compared to last year, this team as it is, is already better because of health and a successful season to build off of. Not many names have changed but thats good because the guys that brought winning baseball after the allstar break are almost all here and all are healthy. The best teams always have 1-3 impact rookies. We have that also. actually about 7 or so and we only might need 1 or 2 of them.
  5. But we need to go buy Joey Gallo again and hope he isn’t Joey Gallo again. …. and the Pohlads suck cause they are cheap. Snarky panic rant over🤣
  6. Baseball is addicting… it should be sold like crack 🤣
  7. Agreed! They could market many different streaming packages. I swear they think that if someone pays $20 to $50 for a season pass that that customer will never go to the ballpark. They dont even make an attempt to sell to the casual fans. They could sell $1 or$2 single game streaming passes. Over the course of a season, that could end up making massive cash flow. How MLB cant get out in front of this is mind boggling.
  8. We should all enjoy the last few games that Kep and Polo play here. Who ever we get back with their departure will hopefully bring even more excitement. As of right now, we have a very talented young team around these guys that haven’t always had that. We owe them gratitude for what they have done for this organization.
  9. I think it’s actually a blessing to not have a budget to throw at the gallos and shoemakers of the FA world of reclamation projects. I would have liked to sign a FA ace pitchers but honestly, Id rather see one come out of nowhere from within the organization. Its a way better story to write in October than trying to be the Dodgers. We will always be the underpaid, underrated flyover team. It doesn’t mean we will suck in October. One look at the NFL this week and you wont see many of the big names around. Sports has a way of humbling even the biggest of egos so leta just hang around for a couple more frozen months and see what this team has come opening day.
  10. Its sad really, Ownership has record amounts of value. Players are getting record amounts of salary. Several FO’s have already sold the lie that budgets are tight with no foresight in fixing it, other than to not improve their team (product). While others are spending like drunken sailors with their parents credit card. we the customers pay inflated ticket prices, $18 for a 20oz beer. $8 for a 6” hot dog….but is it really that big? and how far and which direction do fans have to drive to escape a blackout because we are too cheap to show up at the ballpark. Just sad.
  11. Duran could be a complete failure as a starter. My point was that nobody knows until they know. the other point was that we need a guy to pitch as many innings as possible of Cy Young type innings as possible…. His name doesn’t matter.
  12. @DocBauer Its fascinating to read all the comments and different perspectives. Amazon is obviously trying to buy into owning professional sports communications. Like any large corp, they want a few things. More new customers that mean more new revenue. They want as small of an acquisition cost as possible. They want to grow the business after acquisition to increase revenue and profits. They want to control all of this on their terms which is why they made the move(s) they did today…. obviously there are tons of questions yet but there will be access to the twins games. Its going to have a cost and not everyone will be happy about the changes. The long play for Amazon is to control the societal changes. The Yankees and MLB as a whole will all have a seat at the table but its going to be at a table in a room owned by Amazon. Hopefully everyone gets along in that room. 😂
  13. @ashbury 160 regular season and he is my game 2 starter in the playoffs. That gets me another 20-30 innings…. Almost to 200!
  14. Id trot out Daffy Duck to get200 innings of 3.00era and 1.1 whip if he had the tools to get it done. Duran is no different.
  15. He doesn’t necessarily need individual stats to make it to the hall. If he wins 2 WS titles with the twins, he is a lock to get in just by the playoff success and leadership qualities.
  16. How much difference is there from the 5th best to the 14th best? Does it really matter?
  17. I can see a top prospect or two in a package to get Corbin Burnes if he is willing to sign a 4-6 yr deal. The Pohlads should inject some financial creativity and defer some of his salary extension in order to stay in a realistic budget this year. I wonder why the Pohlads haven’t tried it. If the Dodgers can do it, why can’t the Twins?
  18. @chpettit19 yes and Rosario is the twins #19 prospect and will likely beat Erod to MLB and ahead of them is Yoyner Fajardo who has already torn up AA at 24 yo. My whole point is value is relative and it’s impossible to project yet it seems like everyone thinks they can. After just 1 yr do you think the Marlins would rather have Arraez or Julien? A year ago Juliens value was no where near Arraez.
  19. At 20 yo Erod is heading to AA. He is still considered a baby but comes up huge in clutch situations. How can someone say he has huge holes in his game? His development skills wont peak for about 10 more years if he is the real deal and carry him until Age 35/6? How many top 3 team prospects have peak value at age 20? None that are midwest league MVP types is my guess.
  20. I agree, I think the twins are blessed with some very special young players that will be great MLB’rs, not just solid role players. The only way we can compete with the big money teams is to hoard everyone of the top prospects. Not all of them will pan out but we gonna try.
  21. @TopGunn#22 I agree with your post. I would shoot higher than Manoah tho. It doesn’t seem realistic in today’s market unfortunately.
  22. @chpettit19 yes, value can be confusing. Market forces change and sometimes rapidly. Erod has questions and high potential. As of today, the Twins would probably trade him straight up for Corbin Burnes but is that likely in todays market? Lots of hypotheticals, lots of different valuations depending on situations and perspectives. Its fun to talk about because we love baseball and the Twins. In the end, we have no idea what his true value is until many more decisions are made that you and I have no control over. Lol
  23. Nothing is guaranteed. And the minor leaguers you mentioned were top pedigree with value at the time of their trades that way overshadow Erods current value. It also is an off season where top SP has a massive current market value. Market value changes all the time so on the scope of Erods career. Right now its not real high. Not top 50 SP high. Will it ever be? I don’t obviously know but I bet it will be. I am also wrong most of the time.
  24. I am with ya, I used Soto only because of previous mentions. I don’t even like to compare milb guys to any MLB player because every guy is unique. Erod could catch the hit for contact expertise as he develops of he could just be a strike out/HR guy. My only point was that its hard to trade away the best prospects until their highest value has already been achieved and much of it has been utilized. The time and money invested has to match the return that you get out of them.
