  1. Great post! It really shows what bad decisions can lead to. Its quite obvious that the first round picks (decision) is getting fine tuned as this FO has gained experience. A few more good choices over the next couple years, and we will continue to supply young studs for the next decade to MLB and stay competitive against the big spenders. I am a bit surprised that the comp picks before round 2 weren’t included as they essentially are a late first round pick…. But thats just nitpicking perhaps. Its also perhaps too early to congratulate the FO on the ‘22 &’23 picks but wowza if they are the next 2 building blocks of a championship team!
  2. Some sort of combo of buxton, martin and castro. We will see who is healthy and productive. Edit… I doubt this scenario will happen but Lewis could shift to CF and Lee could be our 3B out of spring training. To be greedy, that would get the FO another comp pick in the ‘25 amateur draft.
  3. @tony&rodney I agree that the play is for Castillo but I don’t think Seattle will give him up. Our FO likely wont be giving away any of our current talent either on that two way street.
  4. Lee has only had 1 full year of the high minors. At age 22 in the high minors, who has ever put up video game #s for a whole season fresh out of college? ****+apologies for the duplicate ********
  5. Lee has only had 1 full year of the high minors. At age 22 in the high minors, who has ever put up video game #s for a whole season fresh out of college?
  6. I read that montgomery is looking for Rodon type money. Over $26M/yr for 6 years. Rediculous!!!
  7. Brebbia should be top of that list. Stroman must have wanted out of Chicago badly. Not sure he is getting more than a 2 yr 32M deal. Not what we need if he crashed and burns out. Anyone know if Hoskins is 100% recovered /healthy?
  8. 2019 draft class is looking good! The beauty of those late rounders is beating the odds and expectations. Picking those types of guys is an art form. As always, I am amazed at the Twins FO staff that seems to be hitting on 3-6 solid MLB’rs in each draft.
  9. Kai Rosario (sp) 2020 is also an early pick that is making his way thru also
  10. @chpettit19agreed! Thats why I believe Julien is undervalued. Also why we shouldn’t be concerned with his average defense. He should develop his hit tool against lefties and being a little more aggressive when a pitcher lays one in the box as much as he works on his defense.
  11. @Nashvilletwin thats where we win WS’s if those guys are all that and more. It explains why the FO isn’t chasing trades or downslope FA’s either. The future is incredibly bright!! I see the foresight in this list and look forward to see how it changes next year. So many young guys in the top 20!
  12. @chpettit19 prolonging ABs and getting multiple base runners on chases guys off the mound. One would think it would be innovative to have 4 guys that are OBP heavy in a lineup sprinkled in with sluggers to do as much damage to a SP as possible. If pitch counts are limited to 85-100 and you get every SP to that point thru 4 innings. That team better have 2 long reliever’s to even get close to beating you in a 3 game series. Sorry about getting off topic!
  13. @Otwins beat me to it. We finally had depth in ‘23 so we didn’t have to go into the farm during the grind of the season and trot out questionable mlb fringe guys. SP needs proven depth. One 60 day il and we will be in trouble. position players is a different situation. 3 rookies stepped into significant roles in ‘23. 3 young players coming back from injury riddled seasons and 3 to 6 guys in AAA that could step up their game to arrive and stay in the show. Being a young and developing team comes with downside risk but we have enough talented option to throw into any given situation and see which player will rise to the occasion. Its going to be a very exciting year!!!
  14. Possibly but no two players are the same. No two situations are the same. Its just a flier on a guy that has abilities and talent, just needs massive work and development, mental over physical. Probably lost a lot of confidence. A good sports psychologist and best friend coach/mentor may help him blossom!!
  15. If he just fouls off some of those borderline pitches, he is either going to increase his walk rate, BA or both. A couple foul balls and the pitchers will get one over the plate or try to wipe him out which gets him the walk when he lays off it.
  16. Anyone know what Juliens splits are with 2 strikes LHP vs. RHP?
  17. To think that Erod is so young and doing what he did in high A is so cool to watch. He looks like an unrefined Julien at the plate. If he crushes in Wichita this spring, do they sent him to St. Paul in July? How far does he have to cut his swing and miss rate to? Could a ‘26 outfield of Wallner,Jenkins,Erod be the best in baseball? So much in the superstars of the future bag right now. Joe Ryan may be top 5 next year. His first half ‘23 wasn’t a fluke. I would pencil him in for an allstar appearance in ‘24. He is just that good and he will regain the trust of baldelli with his game early in ‘24. The dude is a little quirky but amazingly talented. both C4 and Ober should be right where they are and Ober is going to add dependability to his resume.
  18. Julien will do just fine adjusting to how the league adjusts to his weaknesses. He will identify and crush the meat balls and the umps at some point will have to call a ball, a ball 4. Julien will have to crush more 2 strike pitches to get the pitchers to respect that. Julien will continue his development and have another great season IMHO.
  19. Having a consistent lefty set up man that can get the ball to Duran will be huge. Completely messes up opposing batting orders with excessive PH in the 7th/8th. We should just call Fundy a huge tool.
  20. Huge overpay for Luzardo. No way that trade works.
  21. Trading for one for the twins hs been hard. Lopez, Colume, Pagan etc has been hard to watch. Duran holds special value because he is homegrown.
  22. This is a great list! I would move Duran up to 7 but we have so many valuable assets left to list that I understand why he is at 11. No question about Raya being where he is. To me, he is a young Sonny Gray type and we should expect hime to be a mid to front line starter as he gets older. He is a baby striking out guys more advanced and heading to the bigs. Batters will not want to face him. Hopefully in ‘24 his workload tops over 100 innings to really show how good he is. Wallner has a great career ahead of him if he continues to adjust and keeps his obp over .350. I have no issues with K’s when they are balanced off with walks. Varland may be in the Top 10 next year wether he is a shut down reliever or a mid rotation starter. He just has to limit the dingers and throw that heat. Its very exciting to have 2 home grown young studs on this list.
