  1. Agreed. It looks like the FO is going all in on internal development options and bounce back players in ‘24. It may be very prudent in the short term to put the best roster on the field. It’s been a full 6 years of developing their guys and they seem very attached to certain guys. Its just fine if they overvalue their current roster as long as the players respond with the expected production.
  2. That was an exciting 4 games and I was thinking that the other shoe would drop but not as soon as it did. And then the Rays won for weeks and weeks. and then they didn't in October. Baseball is a hard game with a long season.
  3. I think some people don’t like to discuss out of the box ideas on TD. Some people like to throw things out and are tough enough to take the feedback and others are not. the Twins are not a lock to go deep into the playoffs but with just a little growth from some young guys and/or an acquisition of the right top tier role player or two, we can be that team that no one wants to play in October. As a younger team and having our two most expensive stars coming off injury riddled seasons, there are so many ways ‘24 can go which is why we should not trade our depth. We are going to need it but maybe at some point we won’t. sometimes I get ahead of myself but I absolutely believe that every year should be impacted by 2-3 rookies. ‘24 should be no different! Guys are coming to the show fast and mngmnt will figure out where to play them and maximize the roster, production and wins. Its great to discuss and prognosticate on here. They probably don’t listen or care what we think but its a lot of fun to pontificate. A good bet is that sooner or later, someone that we think is not going to get traded, will be…. and we will not like it.
  4. @Riverbrian To your point about Polo and Buck only being available for 100 games, can be viewed positively for the young guys getting more opportunity. Is that best for winning in ‘24? That is a huge question mark for sure! Who steps into their roles if they are out for a month or two with more nagging injuries. Rookies are full of growing pains but at least we have some to try out instead of the Jake Caves of the AAAA types.
  5. Kep is only replaceable at this point by shifting Wallner to right. WAR may be similar but Keps elite defence is absolutely not replaceable. Kep should not be traded for the exact reasons you stated. If Kep is traded, we may possibly be playing the OF short a guy or two for the next 2 years until Erod and Jenkins arrive. That isn’t even close to the best scenario which is why even on an expiring contract, Kep will remain here for ‘24. I seriously think the FO will do very little this whole offseason and am confident that strategy will work.
  6. I believe his point was that if Correa has a bounce back year and plays like the allstar he is, his remaining contract is certainly tradable. I doubt the FO would trade C4 any time before ‘26 but if the right offer came along, they would have to take a serious look. As for ‘24, we have role player questions at 3 positions and about 8 guys that can fill those roles so we aren’t hurting for options other than an ace SP. as per usual, if we get 2-3 rookies to bust into the bigs and even most of the role players to bounce back in ‘24, the only problem we have is to decide who to keep and who to sell. There is zero need to rush anything in this offseason.
  7. The obvious replaceable guys are Vasquez, Polo and Kep. We don’t need to rehash this and that again. A different approach from the FO is a possibility as they have slowly built up depth and young talent as they have. Its quite possible they have shifted into a different phase of championship team building. Cleaning out the lower marginal talent and prospects. I believe the first rendition of that plan was the Mahle trade that blew up on them. It’s probably going to be tried again. Identify the best and keep them. Sell the 2nd tier guys in a group to acquire 1 top tier guy.
  8. So the Twins break the rule of MN can’t have anything nice and not only move up from 13 to 5 but they might have got lucky again by having Jenkins slide down to their pick. That never seems to happen. He sure looks like he will be the guy to replace Buxton not only on the asset list but in CF as well. My enthusiasm for young players has never been higher after watching video on Jenkins. He is so smooth at everything the does. Guys like this don’t get traded, get used to seeing him around for a long time!
  9. Its relevant because the organization signs FA’s to fill holes in the roster. Polo’s salary is basically the same as what they wasted on Gallo last year so it’s comparable value. We next each player to earn their paycheck. Polo is going to have a much better chance of actually earning his pay in ‘24 than what Gallo did in ‘23. Can the team be better paying someone else polo’s salary? I doubt it. Thats how its a relevant comparison.
  10. I don’t always agree with @Mike Sixel but I do when we are both unsure that there is a bad decision to be made. Polo is still serviceable at defense in multiple positions and doesn't have to play the same position every day. He is also a viable option as a part time DH and late inning pinch hitter. There is also the locker room leadership that he exudes. He still has massive value. His contract isn’t even bad. I would error on the side of keeping him because we may just need him deep in October’24 to blow open a game.
  11. It probably won’t happen opening day but Gordon probably won’t be around and Miranda is still a big question mark. Polo will likely be around until those questions are answered as well as when Lee is going to jump to varsity and stay.
  12. Gallo got $11M last year to be productive for 5 weeks.
  13. AAA guys that average 26 yo is inferior to MLB. Thats why they are there. Lee at 22 was destroying 24 yo pitchers in AA and did for a month in AAA. Lee isnt going to MLB pitching right away but developing along side his teammates against the best doesn’t have much of a downside.
  14. It may be better for him to develop along side Lewis, Julien and Correa instead of inferior competition in AAA. Why let him sit in AAA when he can elevate his game to match with the guys he will obviously be playing with over the next 7-10 years.
  15. Yeah, It took him about 50 games to start lighting up AA and just 30 in AAA but maybe he will burn out in MLB at age 23. Lol 🤦‍♂️
  16. If you dive into his stats. He has started out average at a new level and as he makes his adjustments, he starts to crush and then is sent to another level. Its been about as linear at each step as you can get. That type of progression is only done by someone mature enough to understand what he is doing and what is needed to be successful. There is nothing to suggest that type of development wont occur in MLB. I guarantee you that if he is ready for MLB this spring. He will be there because it bring the FO not only the best possible lineup but brings an additional comp pick next year for the fast track. You know our FO wants that in the worst way.
  17. He is entering his prime and controllable so he could be a great asset to the Twins over the next 4+ years. He is obviously talented and coachable. Health and confidence can go a long way to making him a weapon in the ‘24 bullpen.
  18. Great post! It really shows what bad decisions can lead to. Its quite obvious that the first round picks (decision) is getting fine tuned as this FO has gained experience. A few more good choices over the next couple years, and we will continue to supply young studs for the next decade to MLB and stay competitive against the big spenders. I am a bit surprised that the comp picks before round 2 weren’t included as they essentially are a late first round pick…. But thats just nitpicking perhaps. Its also perhaps too early to congratulate the FO on the ‘22 &’23 picks but wowza if they are the next 2 building blocks of a championship team!
  19. Some sort of combo of buxton, martin and castro. We will see who is healthy and productive. Edit… I doubt this scenario will happen but Lewis could shift to CF and Lee could be our 3B out of spring training. To be greedy, that would get the FO another comp pick in the ‘25 amateur draft.
  20. @tony&rodney I agree that the play is for Castillo but I don’t think Seattle will give him up. Our FO likely wont be giving away any of our current talent either on that two way street.
  21. Lee has only had 1 full year of the high minors. At age 22 in the high minors, who has ever put up video game #s for a whole season fresh out of college? ****+apologies for the duplicate ********
  22. Lee has only had 1 full year of the high minors. At age 22 in the high minors, who has ever put up video game #s for a whole season fresh out of college?
  23. I read that montgomery is looking for Rodon type money. Over $26M/yr for 6 years. Rediculous!!!
