Twins' Payroll Analysis: Decisions Before Decisions
MGM4706 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wish they would quit saying the Bally Contract is holding everything up. Every team that has renewed their contracts or found new providers have seen at least a 20% increase. So Twins know that whoever gets the the rights it will be more than the last contract. So quit with the Bally excuse! -
Exploring Local Alternatives to Succeed Dick Bremer
MGM4706 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Saying Morneau and Perkins provide "Stellar Content" is absurd!! Morneau feels he has to fill every second of every broadcast. Talks way too much. And when he is with Perkins all they do is talk Spin Rate and arm slot of every single pitch. Guys. We are watching on TV. We can see what kind of pitch it was. I turn on the other teams announcers. What a breath of fresh air. Almost none of them talk spin rate and arm slots!! Put Smalley on more. He talks Baseball!!- 40 replies

Still think Lewis can be biggest asset in the outfield. Speed, good arm. Wallner showed poorly in the playoffs. May be another Larnach. Struggling to hit breaking ball. Lewis, Buxton/Martin, Kepler with Wallner filling in would be strong outfield. Find FA 3rd basement.

Move him at any cost! His weak swings were just awful. Twins had to many holes in the line-up to be able to carry him. Garver looked good for Texas. At least makes contact!

What to Make of Carlos Correa's Defense at Shortstop?
MGM4706 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
With all due respect this is one of the dumbest articles in a long time. Correa is better than anything the Twins have ever had. With only a few exceptions his only errors were on balls that most shortstops don't get too! They would be through for hits. He knocks them down and gets penalized for errors. -
By keeping the Batting Coach the Twins showed they are not really serious about taking the next step. Rocco gets to keep his Country Club together and the strike-out will just be shrugged off again.

Pulling Joe Ryan Was the Correct Decision
MGM4706 replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Could not disagree more! In this situation even if you are going with a bullpen game leave the guy that is in as long as he is doing well. First sign of trouble take him out. So Ryan was fine. Leave him in one or two more. Then Brock was fine. He should have stayed in one or two more. As AJ said on the broadcast if you go with 8 pitchers sooner or later you hit a Dud. Theilbar was the Dud!! He gives up big hits in the clutch. They are usually someone else's runners so his ERA looks good. He is not reliable in clutch situations! -
4 Things That Went Wrong for the Twins in the Playoffs
MGM4706 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Odd. You forgot the biggest mistake of the series. Julien getting picked off 2nd with no outs. Lewis hits HR on next pitch an Julien's run would have eventually tied the score at 3-3! Frustrating part is it is a habit with Julien that has not been corrected. His head is not in the game when running. He got picked off first multiple times. Over slid 2nd twice. And ran on a fly out with one out getting doubled off. You can't give away runs like that in an elimination game and expect to win. He should be sent to Winter Ball to work on his fielding and his running. See if he can learn to take it more seriously!! -
Twins add Buxton, Kiriloff out
MGM4706 replied to Battle ur tail off's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Another Rocco bonehead move! Farmer should have been the Pinch hitter last night. He had homered the game before and was making good contact. Not some injured player that hadn't played for two months. Rocco was just afraid to tell Buxton No! That's part of the job Rocco!! -

Don't Be Silly. Jhoan Duran Is As Good As It Gets.
MGM4706 replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Pretty good article. But you are right. The Walks are the concern. People still think of an elite closer to be like Rivera was from the Yankees. Nobody worried about him walking people when he came in. It was Game Over! Duran is not there yet. But certainly headed that way -
Jax? How can you even mention him and not Varland? Have you been watching games?

The Front Office Was Right to Bet on Their Roster
MGM4706 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Some solid moves but ignoring the Pen could cost them big-time in the playoffs. Like Vikes ignoring the O-Line. If they plan on using Jax under pressure it could be over early. Varland may bail them out.- 34 replies

What Should the Twins Do with Trevor Larnach?
MGM4706 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First off, start with his issue hitting off-speed. As soon as the league figured that out he was doomed. Might be the same now with Wallner .Also, Larnach is very average in the outfield. Doesn't play the wall very well. Next as a throw-in on a trade it shouldn't be for a Starter! It has to be for a Pen guy. Garland may be the answer but he wants to be a starter and may replace Gray. So the Pen is the #1 trade issue. Can't go another year with the AAA guys we have out there now. It is hard to watch when they come in.- 78 replies

Reminds me of Miranda. Young, exciting player for stretches. Thought we had our 3rd baseman for years to come. Then the league figured him out. Could be same situation.

What Does a Lost Year Mean for José Miranda?
MGM4706 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Has to stay in AAA another year to increase his value to either come up to the Twins or to be a throw-in for Bullpen help at the deadline. -
The Twins Were Right to Gamble on Julien
MGM4706 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ah, please stop saying his fielding has improved. Are you watching games? Last night Correa had to save him again on a double play because he got his feet tangled up and got the ball out of his glove late. Correa saved it with a rifle throw. He is not improving. Plus now he has had three 3 strike-out games out of the last 4. Teams may be on to him. Maybe another year in St. Paul next year would help.- 53 replies

There may be a reason Donaldson was not the most popular in Twins Clubhouse. He wanted to win and HATED to lose! Lots of Twins want to win.The difference? Many including Rocco don't seem to mind losing! Rocco is known as a "Players" Manager. Donaldson's last year here the Twins was a mess. Like the first half this year except with poor pitching. Rocco just went along staring at his cyber metric cards in the dugout. Donaldson hated that. This year Rocco waited half a year to have a team meeting. Why?

Multiple Twins Drop in Updated SDI Rankings
MGM4706 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Castro comments are the most surprising. Just because a guy plays a position doesn't mean he is good at it. Castro has no clue on how to play an outfield wall. He is a " Fill-in" at every position but not great at any of them. Range is average everywhere and arm is average. And the comments on double plays. That is fully on Julien and on Gardenhire in St. Paul. The kid has just not been prepared to play MLB 2nd base. Definitely a DH for the Playoffs.- 25 replies

Jorge Polanco’s Twins Tenure is Approaching an End
MGM4706 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Polanco still has life left. Made 3 plays wed night that Julien would have just waved at. Him and Correa are the best DP combo. Julien is horrible on DP feeds and range is so limited. Lee may replace Polanco but not Julien. Julien was just 0-13 so pitchers may be figuring him out like they did with Miranda who we all thought would be at 3rd for next 10 years. And Julien getting picked off first twice in key situations shows his baseball instincts still need work. -
Is It Time to Worry About Jhoan Duran?
MGM4706 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Big concern is his control. Seems to always put a runner on now in one run games that means bringing winning run to the plate. -
Wow! Some poor assumptions made in this take. You DO still need range at first. You need to field ground balls. And poor throws from Infielders. Julien can't do any of those things. But it may not matter. It appears the Pitching Reports may be catching up to him. 0-12? Same happened to Miranda. Bring up Brooks Lee Sept 1 and get him ready for for 2024 with Lewis. Lewis, Correa, Lee and Kiriloff. Julien can't even be a utility guy because he can't play one position and especially not 2 or 3. Might be a throw in on trade for bullpen help with Polanco.
