  1. My order of expectations for these 12 listed, top 6: Jenkins, Pena, Dam., Winokur, J Rod, Lopez, Bass Hope the best for all on list, still very young, hard to project at this point.
  2. When you are a LH batter and get pinchhit for with at RH batter against a RH pitcher, does not show much confidence in your ability from manager. I think Gallo has played hard and seems to be a good teammate, but time to move on.
  3. I don't have stats handy, but if I remember correctly Sisk struggled to get RH batters out, but Funderburk actually has reverse splits-better against RH batters. This would be one of the biggest differences.

  5. I liked Arraez/Lopez trade, winner for both teams. Better question is did Twins trade for the right Reds pitcher?
  6. Underperformance of top position players has to be considered. FO may take some blame for that, in that could have been at least partially foreseen with Buxton's injury history. I think most people thought Twins needed at least one more arm for BP, but FO decided against it. FO assembled arguably the best starting pitching Twins has had in a long time. Yes, FO seems too willing to look at previously good aging players and giving them another chance. Would have Twins been better off just going with Larnach and Wallner instead of signing Gallo?
  7. Agree, don't see Twins making big trade. I would settle for some clearing of the bottom of 40 man roster and releasing/trading some players at St. Paul to give others an opportunity. Get rid of Gallo, going to have to eat rest of salary but time admit mistake and move on.
  8. I like Castro, he is definitely above Gordon for me. Better defensively, and can play more positions at higher level. Castro is best SB threat on the Twins. He is an average hitter but that is what you would expect from a defense, speed type utility player- if he could hit better would be fulltime player. I don't know if Castro is in Twins longterm plans 4-5 years, but seems a lock for rest of year and should get first opportunity for utility role next year.
  9. Buxton's been painful to watch, it will be hard for him to make necessary adjustments midseason against MLB pitching. Put Buxton on IL, extended rehab assignment, put him in room and have him watch 2021 Buxton for a week, then work on adjustments on rehab assignment.
  10. Should have moved on from Pagan in offseason, would have been better for Twins and Pagan. My take on the Twins is they don't like to release players they owe money. With Pagan signed for the year, doubt if released until late in year or a late year trip to IL and never return.
  11. I would put Funderburk around #5. LH reliever, should get some time with Twins this year.
  12. Funderburk looks promising, may need to prove himself more at AAA before get opportunity with Twins, Father time may be catching up to Theilbar this year and Moran has been inconsistent, will be need for LH relief.
  13. 1. Lewis 2. Lee 3. Varland 4. Julien 5. SWR 6. Prielipp 7. E Rodriguez 8. Raya 9. Wallner 10. Festa 11. Balazovic 12. Canterino 13. Miller 14. Headrick 15. Severino 16. Cossetti 17. Enlow 18. Matthews 19. Lewis, C 20. Helman
  14. Is it time for Maeda to move to middle relief and Ober to stay up as 5th starter?
  15. With all the stats, spin rates available today in real time, I would think someone could be monitoring spin rates. If a pitcher suddenly has significantly higher spin rates, then give them a closer inspection and if find something would lead to ejection. Someone posted how German's spin rates were significantly lower after being confronted by umpire.
  16. Last year pitchers were behind where they are now with limited spring training, may be a factor in increased K rates at least early in the year.
  17. Great article, enjoyed the detailed information. In regard to automated balls/strikes, many calling for the review instead of automated calling of all pitches. If that is the case, framing would still be an important skill. Defense for a catcher is the most important part of their game, look at Twins game yesterday, tying run scored on passed ball.
  18. Look forward to this update daily, got to watch some of games on MiLB TV. Julien struggled in the field. Hoping Enlow can get things going this year, good first start. CR going to be fun to follow with all the prospects.
  19. Thanks Seth for rosters, great information. I sure there will be plenty of surprises, good and bad. Really hard to make it all the way to MLB.
  20. The complicating factor is Maeda's contract has incentives for games started. He may look at a move to relief as a way to keep his salary down. Maeda should be ready for the season, maybe not 6-7 innings for first few starts. It is an unusual position for the Twins to have the 6th starter, a legitimate MLB starting pitcher. I look for Ober to get plenty of starts for the Twins next year, then to be in top 5 of rotation in 2024.
  21. Julien is on 40 man roster so increases his chances of playing at MLB level this year, especially compared to Martin. But, still has to prove himself at AAA level. Hopefully, Julien makes it hard for Twins to keep him at AAA.
  22. I look for Twins to add Hand after putting players on 60 day IL. Should be a good addition, experienced, LH pitcher. Will be plenty of opportunity for Megill and others that don't make opening day roster, likely to need another 8 bullpen arms through the year. Great to have depth, playing time will work its way out on the field over the year.
  23. I am not in the Urshela camp. He had a good year and by all accounts was a good teammate, but expendable. Miranda will be much more comfortable at 3B than 1B, Urshela's defensive metrics were nothing to get excited about. I agree in future may see Correa, Lewis, Lee in some combination at 3B, SS, 2B. I am a little pessimistic about Kirilloff and maybe Miranda's long term position in 1B but for this year like him at 3B.
  24. Big year for Martin, needs to take a step forward. Looking at him physically, don't see much power potential. He is not very big. Will he develop into a Gordon type player, able to play all over the field?
  25. Signing with Miami seems odd with the pitching depth Marlins have. Best of luck to Devin, will be rooting for him.
