I’m not convinced this team is good enough with Montas to justify it this year anyway. If we stand pat or add a reliever or two, probably still win the division. I think they lose first with or without Montas.
I think if the Twins traded for Montas AND Castillo, they still would not be favored to reach the series. I think that would be correct. This team is simply too flawed this year. Might want to think about being sellers. Would probably still win the division.
Out of the four catchers, GArver, Jeffers, Rortvedt and Sanchez, Sanchez is the best this year. Do stolen bases maybe not matter as much as we think? The FO really doesn’t seem too concerned about it.
He’s a one tool A+ player. He can hit. He could have easily been charged with 3 errors last night. He should be the 3rd or fourth option at any defensive position. Should probably sell high.
What does it do for the rotation? It adds one more guy to compete for the 5th starter job. The Twins are starting the season with a #3 as the ace and four #4-5 guys. Unfortunately, I think they are done. I think they took a flyer on Archer after the trade market was ridiculously expensive. If they’re close, get a guy at deadline.
Buxton won an MVP?? When? Or are we talking about a different MVP that he won when he was NOT playing baseball? Did we learn nothing from the Mauer contract? Apparently the FO did.
I love all the people on here. “We can’t trade Buxton, his value has never been lower”! Same people: “If they don’t give Buxton $30m+ AAV, the FO is crazy and should be fired.
Again, Buxton is a career .247 hitter. He’s passed 50 RBI’s ONCE. He’s surpassed 20 stolen bases ONCE. He’s surpassed 80 games played ONCE. He’s a LOT closer to Billy Hamilton than Mookie Betts, yet he wants Betts money. The Twins can’t/won’t/shouldn’t give him that kind of money. Time to trade him for some even better pitching prospects.
